This pen is on my wishlist as well, probably the 405 for budget reasons.

The 405 version was on my wishlist as well. I only went with the 605 because I got such a good deal on it.

please keep making vid’s: like this one - you mentioned you thought you might soon buy a Pilot Custom 74: can I suggest you swap for the Platinum 3776, watch out: these write 1 size broader than your typical Pilot or Sailor but for me, the best value is the Platinum: go for the Chartres blue w rhodium trim in F or EF with Platinum mixable aurora blue ink:)

Thank you! I actually just bought a Custom 74 yesterday!

@@Reflekks it’s a good pen, just a bit dated on the styling front, also it comes with a no.5 nib rather than the no.6 you get with a 3776 - the other benefit you get with the Platinum is an unbeatable choice of nibs: everything from an UEF to a 3 tined music nib but it’s just personal preference; btw might be a good idea to go for the con70 over the con40 as it has very limited capacity (the Platinum comes with a better converter too:)

That’s fair. Platinum’s have more feedback though, right?

@@Reflekks to be honest, I’m not the best person to ask - I write light as a feather and don’t get feedback from any pen except my Platinum 3776 UEF but my Platinum 3776 EF which is inked with J Herbin éclat de saphir writes smooth as glass and certainly equally as smooth as my Pilot Custom 74 F which is inked with Iroshizuku ajisai - think the thing I’d be more concerned about is the thickness of the metal on the nib: the Platinum looks thicker and writes stiffer - if you want the softer bounce you get with the Pilot you’d probably be best opting for their Soft Fine nib; btw if I’ve sold you on a 3776, buy sooner rather than later - they’re replacing the nib with a smaller nib because of sky rocketing gold prices

Ah that makes sense. I do prefer a stiffer, smoother nib. I don’t think think I’ll be buying a Platinum anytime soon though. Not after the two large purchases I made this week. Plus, I’ll be honest, I mostly went with the Custom 74 because I really like the way it looks and I just wanted to try out a gold Pilot nib.

a long time ago i buy a 805 Stresemann and a 101N (450€) Pelikan ,the quality is it not worth ,the feather was @ both a disaster ,the cap was not correct on the pen and the pump was scrathing at one. A twsbi costs me 40€ and writes without tunning ootb wonderful . Pelikan was in the past good ,but today it is not worth for me. greetings from Austria

There’s lots of amazing cheaper fountain pens too. Are you able to get Japanese pens easily?
