You have to understand that cops are restricted to staying within jurisdiction and within that, they are assigned to a patrol zone. The cops can’t just go out of zone to “the bad area” and patrol there just because they want to. These guys were assigned to a good part of town, were probably bored out of there minds and all decided to go to the one call they got all night in their zone.

I get it seems like bull for 4 cars to pull up for a couple guys skateboarding when there's hard crime and stuff going on 15 minutes away but the thing is units typically have specific zones they have to patrol so yeah depending on how you look at it, they got the short end of the stick and they're looking for something to do in the as you mentioned, pretty crimeless area.

Legally they cannot without a warrant so if they ask kindly say something like, “is there a warrant?… I’m invoking my 4th amendment right.” Unless u give them consent it’s illegal :) Also “zones” or not, officers stay away from that area BC they know they can’t do anything. So to meet their “quota” they target someone who looks “out of place” BC they know they can control them.
