No, some people in the comments attempted to submit runs with essays about various topics unrelated to the run, and were rejected... despite this rule not existing when they were submitted! This is an absolute scandal! (FWIW I think that's a dumb rule. I considered going for this caregory before this rule, and writing about something random I'm interested in, like maybe some design patterns in software engineering, but now I'm completely uninterested.)

As I understand it, that particular level (with the double lasers - only reason for "double laser" in category name, otherwise the lasers are not involved whatsoever) has a hole in the geometry that Valve missed, through which you can put any physics object out of bounds. The goal is to start the level and put the radio through the hole as quickly as possible. Quite simple - except that they added a lot of arbitrary and ridiculous rules runners need to comply with otherwise the run is invalid (probably as a satire to some validation rules in some communities). For example while it is quite normal to have a standard how the speedrun time starts and stops (normally from when you gain control of the playable character until you loose control before end scene) and how its measured (ingame-time vs. real time clock, are load times removed etc), normally I imagine a slight mistime would either be corrected by a moderator, or the moderator would ask you resubmit with a correct time, as its evident you just made a mistake and did not try to be malicious. But in this case nope - have an extra convoluted way how to measure the time, and if its off by just 1 tick - whole run invalid. Need to do it again.
