I Got Scammed By a Graphics Card Seller

Sometimes you don't get quite what you order... although I think this may have been more than a genuine mistake. After ordering a used RX 460 online for a suspiciously low price, I was quite shocked that anything turned up, even if it wasn't quite what I expected.

Yeah, DVI is essentially 2 feeds using a HDMI compatable signal (at a much lower bandwidth) in one connection. HDMI was derived from DVI. You also can't go over 1200p@60Hz per link, or up to 1600P@60Hz using both links for a single display. Also, dual link and dual head modes are not the same thing, as it needs separate control pins for a second display, not all video cards support both modes, and often it's one or the other.

The student distributed computers at my high school are 11 inch Macbook Airs early 2015 with Broadwell dual core HT Core i5s, 4gb DDR3, and Intel HD 6000 graphics. All in all, not too bad. In our computer lab, we have older HP DC7800 desktops, some with Core based Pentium Dual Cores, and others with Core 2 Duos. I upgraded one of the Pentium ones to a Core 2 Quad Q6600. Oh yeah, someone in the past also donated an Alienware Aurora R3 to the computer lab so we have that, with a Core i7 2600K, 8gb DDR3, and a GeForce GT 545. It was lacking a hard drive so I took one from a broken computer and am working on getting it to run Windows 10. With a GPU ugprade this PC could easily run any modern game (you could probably go up to a GTX 1080 with this one without a bottleneck, and to make things better, the motherboard supports SLI!)

I think this has happened to all of us. Many years ago I purchased my second eBay computer from a seller for around $200 USD. Was more of a bare-bones system and was going to give one to my mom. Anyway we had great communications, even talked about upgrading the included RAM... THEN NOTHING! No computer shipped, stopped communications, DONE! Turned him into eBay and got my money back luckily. His feedback only had one negative and then after my complaint, he closed (or was banned) his eBay site. Lesson learned! Never repeated, luckily. Anyway, nice job at making lemonade out of lemons! I'll remember that in my future videos! Cheers!

Worst scam I ever ran into (years ago) was a parts seller advertising great prices - just so they could get and resell my credit card number (which they did, never pretending to supply the parts I'd ordered). To add insult to injury, I'd originally found that bogus seller on a supposedly reliable price comparison portal - that I hadn't noticed (until it was too late) was flooded with obviously fake, "good" reviews. As on-line shopping has evolved now, I usually just buy everything from Amazon - where everyone involved in each sale always wants to make sure I'm a very happy customer! Safer and better all around!

It's not at all like a new generation. It's very much like a new generation of game being gimped just to barely be able to run at an "acceptable" level on a severely under-powered and over priced machine. I put quotes around acceptable because GTA V on the PS3 is not enjoyable, it's rendered at 720p in the frame-buffer and then upscaled to 1080p, there's no ant-aliasing at a resolution where it really needs it, and it runs at a very unstable 24 FPS which will drop like a rock anytime there's a single explosion or anything that happens which isn't normal driving. Hell, they couldn't even render the fucking grass! We needed the PS4 just to get grass! With GTA IV they were at the PS3's limits, and at least we got a clear and somewhat sharp picture that ran OK. When GTA V came the demand went up but the hardwae stayed the same, and you get an ugly, muddy, choppy experience.

I'm running the K5000 with an i7 3930k and 32g ram, The k5000 has 4096MB GDDR5 ram on card and supports dx12. With the Quadros it's important to manually check the drivers for being up to date; I've found the java script automatic checker to be unreliable in reporting driver updates.

Compact Bead I also play on a Xbox One now I suppose I'm now a Microsoft Fanboy or a console Pleab. I built my PC as a workstation primarily for Autodesk and Adobe products not gaming; it just happens to do a decent job playing games as well. I've played Skyrim and Fallout 4 on both the console and my PC and I can honestly say that my PC looks and plays better and my MODS aren't restricted to what Microsoft thinks are acceptable. However Fallout New Vegas plays better on the console, doesn't look better but it doesn't suffer from the random CTD that my Modded New Vegas on the PC does.

It's an "okay" card. The NVS 315 is a "low--end" workstation graphics card. You can view 2D and relatively simple 3D CAD files on it, but don't expect to design the next Burj Khalifa in SolidWorks on dual 4k displays with it. It was probably one of the standard add-on video card options for HP Compaq 6300 Pro and lower-tier Dell Precision Workstations at the time. I have a 512mb NVS 290 PCIe 1x card in this old ENVY H8 machine as a secondary card to run an additional two displays (two old 17-inch Dell UltraSharp LCD's at 1280x1024 resolution), and even with the limited PCIe bandwidth of a single lane, it does the job just fine. It was $15 shipped for one card (New Old Stock, in HP OEM Packaging), including a DMS59 dual-VGA adapter (but I'm using it with a DMS59 dual-DVI adapter for the pair of 17-inch displays instead). It's definitely fair to say that you were scammed, though. Not an AMD card, not an RX 460, and definitely not worth 49 pounds. Maybe a third of that for a used one, perhaps half for NOS with the DMS-59 adapter.

I bought a GTX 960 on eBay with a highly rated Chinese seller. I bought it on Dec 27th of 2019 for $65 and the deadline of it shipping to my address was Jan 25th of 2020 and the date of shipping changed one more time after that. The deadline now is unknown and I feel that I’ve got scammed.
