In this episode, I wake up in a small village in the Central African Republic, where I asked to spend the night, because night fell in the jungle and I had nowhere to go. The villagers and their chief immediately took me in, and insisted I park my motorcycle inside the house as well. The people in this part of the Central African Republic are some of the best people I've ever met - and I will never forget their hospitality!

It's funny how people with so little can be so generous and (seemingly) happy, yet rich folks here in the west can be so suspicious of strangers (i.e. what does that stranger really want from me??) and unhappy because they always (seemingly) want more. Yes, quite the lesson!

"You are safe with us." --That's what the man in the village told Noraly. That's a clear sign of an advanced civilization. Such empathy does not come from religion, education, or wealth. It comes only from lived experience, from humanity. That man sensed Noraly's apprehension and quickly assured her without any prompting. Humanity cannot be taught, only lived.

@@vp4744 I didn’t say there was anything bad in the video. You watched the video and extrapolated an idea to the general human experience that such empathy is not religion but from humanity and lived experience. I countered and said that if you think that humanity is the source for empathy then you have to apply the same to the evil in the world. You removed religion as the foundation of their empathy and kindness and replaced it with humanity so ok in that case humanity is the cause of both good and evil then. If you doubt that there is evil in general then you must either be willfully ignorant or sheltered and naive. If you’re the later then I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the world is filled with much evil.

What Noraly is showing through her Africa episodes is that the western media 's portrayal of Africa and its people are all wrong. The general population is kind and treat foreigners with respect. Sure there are street gangs and rebels running around but they are not the majority. It also show where people have very little material worth but they have good spirits. I salute the people of Africa.

I wouldn't say what the western mass media wants people to believe. I'm an African American and the western media here rarely covers Africa. The media so rarely covers Africa that some of my long held beliefs about Africa are being destroyed during Noraly's travels. Like most people world wide I thought that Africa was just a hot place year round. Most of us automatically believed that wild animals are roaming everywhere. I can't blame the media for that ignorance because I could have found other sources before now to be enlightened. That's why I stay on KZbin looking at videos of Africa to rid myself of that ignorance.

What struck me is how we enjoy watching the adventures and how we will not forget them, but everyone who meets Noraly, feels like this. The children of the village which took Noraly in for her safety (the chief said: "you will be safe here") and fed her and kept her safe, will eventually have children of their own and tell them stories about the time a white woman, who was riding her motorbike all by herself, came to stay overnight. How she smiled and laughed. How pale her hair was and how blue her eyes were, and with a wave and a smile, she rode away. The men with their canoes, will remember the lone white woman with the lovely smile, crossed the river in their boat one day. It had never happened before and has never happened since. So as much as we will remember Noraly's adventures, all those she meets will remember Noraly.

Thankfully, after watching your videos, I've learned that these negative things are untrue. What surprised me the most, though, was how friendly and helpful the people are to you, even though it's just you traveling through all these jungles. the kindness of the people, who don't have much to offer but try their best to look after their visitors. I appreciate you teaching so many people, including myself, about how lovely Africa is and how, in contrast to how the media portrays us Africans, Africans are warm and hospitable. Keep yourself protected and attend to your needs. Hopefully, a large number of elephants and other creatures will be visible to you. You have gained a new admirer and subscriber today. Ha!! Yeah, I was sitting here freaking out when I see another one of those overgrown canoes going by in the background with a motorcycle and at least 4 people in it. I literally laughed out loud as I thought this is a common thing for those folks. They probably do that dozens of times a day! Then I thought back to her, crossing the Darain Gap in a similar type of boat, except she was in the ocean!

Noraly is passing through. You cannot compare the complexity of arrivals who come in large numbers to settle in foreign lands. Noraly is independent, respectful and financial. She contributes to those along the way who step up to help her. She pays her way. I'm uncomfortable saying this as we know most people from the African continent are good people as are Europeans. Countries affected by resettlers are bending over backwards to find solutions. Not all will be happy with the results.
