Well, I will forever be searching for a Vol. 54 of Harper's Monthly Magazine now! There are some re-prints of it in different binding, but I'm going to look for this edition of it in every bookstore and antique store from now on.

My 200-year-old Myst book (from Myst V) is a Peterson’s Magazine Vol. 39 (January-June 1861). I even made some leather straps, metal bars, and it even has snaps to secure the book, like the game object!

Yes! After the release of Myst, Cyan had the custom studio building made. They requested extra, fake buttons in the elevator to make it look like there’s tons of basement levels 🤣

I agree! Rand poked in while we were filming and pulled a contact lens case off a shelf and said something like "oh, haha , here are Gehn's old contacts that the actor wore when filming Riven. Ew, whelp, back on the shelf!" His stories are incredible, but it was the company's day to celebrate the new Riven launch and we took up enough of their time already :)

I still lament my little child self not having the money to get the replica of Catherine's dress and vest from the pamphlet.....
@hylianjean3 ай бұрын
I lamented that too, for years and years, until I found one fan (sadly he has passed away) who had a purchased dress and vest in his extensive memorabilia collection. For as beautiful a job as Museum Replicas Ltd did with the props, their reproduction of Catherine's costume didn't attend as well to detail. The fabric pattern was turned sideways, so the hand-embroidery was wrong, the fringe was a strange choice, no aging or weathering that I could see.. it just looked like a disappointing imitation. Granted that's all from a couple of photos of it hanging on the back of a door, but finally seeing it did make me feel a lot better about having to make my own, which turned out so much closer to the original than the merchandise version would have been! Hopefully that eases your ache a tiny bit?

Riven was a huge hit but I'm not sure it was a full return on investment considering the rumors of astronomical production costs and seeing how crazy they went with the props and costumes, it's not surprising.
