I think the problem that I had when first listening to death metal was that’s there’s not many genres that capture the same heaviness . I would recommend revisiting death after listening to more prog/thrash metal. Once it clicks, you’ll never look back!

@@Evojo42 or not ...I LOVE early Death but after "Human" they lost me, and Symbolic never clicked with me, been into metal since the mid-90s so I guess it'll never happen for me.

Maybe he'll like their Self Titled album since that's their sludiest album, also funny him saying Dirt is the same song over & over again because that's exactly what I hear when I listen to Electric Wizard(still good though), like how is Godsmack & Down in a Hole or Would even close to the same song? Crazy take.

Go back to Symbolic after listening to more metal. With subgenres like death metal it's very hard to appreciate it if you aren't really familiar with other types of metal, people typically work their way up in heaviness when getting into metal.
@g-man47445 минут бұрын
Symbolic is not even a death metal album IMO....it's extreme metal/prog. From that era there is death metal that's technically good, I'd recommend stuff like Suffocation.

I’m honestly surprised Electric Wizard is what he said was his favorite lol, during RATM he was like “it’s not that heavy which makes me able to get into it easier” but also his favorite one is the heaviest album out of the ones that he listened to lmaoo Edit: also btw I heavily recommend checking out more SOAD all of their stuff is great (their self titled is their best album after Toxicity imo), and also I recommend checking out the band “Nine Inch Nails”, they’re absolutely amazing and the 2 albums I recommend the most is “The Downward Spiral” and “The Fragile” (The Fragile has more melodic takes on it where as The Downward Spiral is almost strictly a metal album with “Hurt” and “Piggy” being the exceptions, so you might be more into The Fragile but either way I’m sure you’ll probably enjoy them because they’re great)

As a metalhead, this video was complete agony to sit through, but I respect you for trying different genres of music. A handful of (relatively) accessible metal albums are: Slayer - Reign in Blood (Not their best, but probably their most influential. The next 2 Slayer albums were better) Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power (Listen to all their 90s shit, really) Slipknot - Vol. 3 The Subliminal Verses (Listen to the 2 albums before this) Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake (No comment, just peak) Sepultura - Chaos AD (The 2 before this one were better imo) You aren't ready for the really extreme stuff (yet), but these records definitely served as gateway drugs for death metal for me. Also, don't use RYM for metal, a lot of metal fans don't like that site very much.

I've been slowly getting into metal over the last two or so years, but this year I decided to go all in and check out the classics, so I found a list of the top 100 metal bands and I'm making my way through each band's discography. In addition to the ones I already checked out, I've listened to three bands for the first time: Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Maudlin Of The Well. The first two came from the list and the third one came from another list of more experimental recs but it was metal so I decided to check it out. Holy shit tho, Black Sabbath is mind-blowing. They lowk might become one of my favorite bands soon, they're the metal equivalent of The Beatles, King Crimson or Radiohead. I prob won't shut up about them for the rest of the year ! 🤣
