Yes, I didnt play much, but at least I tried some. For somebody like me, that only use it now and then, it sucks to pay such crap. Probably I will not use it in months. PS3 was perfect, but of course some kind of free service is too much to ask for. Sony doesnt own enough money already...

It's all of your fault for buying into PAY2ONLINE When the PC exists. PC's are only as expensive as you want them. You are paying for just nicer hardware for some games, but a mid-rig PC now days is a high rig PC from years ago. Also I miss the ps2-ps3 era. OH MY PC CAN EMULATE PS2 GAMES! and some PS3 titles did have PC ports.

@MaoRatto I have not paid for PlayStation Plus and will most likely never pay for it. You can emulate PS1 - PS3 games on PC, and there is even a PS4 emulator being developed. Also I wasn't talking about missing the games, even though I do love the games from that generation, I was just saying that I miss when you didn't have to pay to play games online on PS3.

The distribution is bad because certain territories don't have access to streaming and get an even worse substitute. Games are added extremely slowly to the service. One of the benefits is playing a demo for a limited time which used to be free.

I once paid $35 for a new game because I wanted to play the multiplayer. But then when I clicked on the multiplayer button in the menu, it brought me to the PS store. At first I thought the game crashed because when that happens it brings you to a loading screen then the thingy, but it brought me to to the ps plus screen. PS Plus is like a weird stalker, it showed up lurking in the shadows of the PS3 era to general mockery and then struck with force in the PS4 era after everyone laughed at it as if to say “I’m not asking anymore, you WILL get PS Plus and you WILL like it.”

a lot of this video is pretty correct and I agree, however Sony made the decision to have a disc and digital version of the console so people who had less money could buy a digital ps5 instead of a disc one for $100 less, and even if there wasn't a digital version of the console, the disc edition would still cost the same as it does now.

That is not true they did that because they knew they could get a lot more money plus back when the ps5 came out people weren't comfortable being all digital. They released the new version of the ps5 again with that being the main ps5 and it is digital. The whole pay to play online was the reason I bought a pc back in 2018 and it was the best decision I had made free online and I know sony would want to increase their player count at somepoint by slowly selling on pc and at somepoint making a Playstation Launcher the difference would be they won't be able to make people pay for online because they know on PC people have way more options if they do that.

@@HariGill I know you didn't talk about pc, I also have a PS4 I was just saying sony didn't make the disc version for the people it was just because of the times it was being released. But I think I went on a rant when I added pc in because the last console I had was Ps4 and I just felt betrayed as mostly a sony console player yes I had an Xbox 360 but I mostly played sony consoles back then. I just stopped being on any side as I grew up and just chose to play on the device that gave me the best options as a gamer.

My fear is that Xbox Gamepass is enticing users with low fees, will consolidate as many games studios as possible, and then one day cut off access to outright buy games. Instead of $60 or $70 it will just check if you have GamePass with no other purchase option. Then slowly they will raise price of the subscription service with no alternatives to play Call of Duty, Halo, or other Activision/Blizz/Bethesda/Microsoft games as they're all owned by one mega corp now.

not defending gamepass/microsoft here... but at worst i see the price going up. if they dealt solely with consoles sure. but all these games get released on steam too. and as big as steam is, i doubt they could just cut them out to begin with. much less see a massive profit by doing so and making games a "rental agreement" like you described. microsoft saw HUGE backlash when they attempted to make the xbox one online only and they changed that. imagine if they tried to make it so you cant buy/own games? sure, some might go along with it but 98% of the population of gamers would just stop paying them.

I switch to PC in 2014 and haven't looked back since. Cheaper games, free games that are actually free, free online. The ability to customize both my games and my system to _MY_ liking. Also with Playstation releasing their precious exclusives to PC, there's really no reason _NOT to_ switch to PC. 🤷‍♂

I have been a PC gamer for as long as I can remember, and I recently got a PS5 a few weeks ago - my first-ever console. However, I did not do my research about the PS Plus subscriptions before getting the PS5, because I only bought it for the exclusives, and most importantly, Bloodborne. Owning a game and not having the ability to play online came as a shock to me. It doesn't make sense that I have to pay extra to Sony to be able to play games online. I don't really intend to play any multiplayer titles on the PlayStation, but it would have been nice to have the ability to do so if I ever wanted to in the future. Especially in games like Bloodborne and Elden Ring, where invading worlds and leaving messages for other players are essential parts of the game.

the concept of consoles is simple: pay for the console, then you have to pay for the games that can cost a lot, then you have to pay to play games online the fact that you have to pay at least 80 DOLLARS to just play online up to 160 to play older games feels illegal (and the addition of free monthly games and cloud saving feels like an excuse to make the price higher) I got a 6-month quest+ subscription trial because I got the higher storage quest 3 (which I recommend) and it's quite nice, and it'll be 60/year for 2 free games a month plus a page of free games like fruit ninja and the climb afterwards (and I'll get $25 in store credit for choosing yearly) without having to pay to play online (also there's xbox cloud gaming as a 2d app)

I saved so much money through used games, 3 for 2 promotions, 3 for €49 promotions, remaining stock and other promotions, so I quickly got the extra €100 back for a drive. They want to bind people to digital products and they've done it in such a disgusting way, so I said to myself, I'm going to rip off Sony as best as I can, like they want to do to me. I don't pay for online, I pay a maximum of €30 for a triple AAA game, I got FF 16 for €24, Ghost of Tsushima for €30, Demon Souls for €10. With physical games you simply save more in the end and if a title really can't be found or is far too expensive, then you can always switch to the digital version in an emergency, which I can't do with the digital console.

I liked it when online was free on PS3 and PS Plus was just 'free' games. Didn't sign up in the first two years, not that great deal in the EU region. But then PS Network was hacked and down for a few weeks. I think we got PS Plus for one free month after that, can't really remember and can't seem to find any info on that. But at some point I tried PS Plus, and it has some great months. Sleeping Dogs, Hitman Absolution, Assassin's Creed 3, Battlefield 3. Month after month, all good releases. So I was pretty glad. Only bought year subscriptions during sales, which made it alright, as at one point it was needed for certain games and then needed all together. During the 25th year anniversary, the yearly subscriptions were only 25 euros. So I got a couple of them, back then they still were 'stackable'. My PS Plus has become the basic one now and lasts up until somewhere 2025. And you can't stack anymore, so no more buying multiple years. So whenever my subscription will, I will think about it whether I want to extend it again. And yea, I also have the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, after trying it out on PC and then buying a second hand Series S, and I have been enjoying myself a whole lot more with that, than my PS5.

Regular gamepass doesn’t come with online play u have to pay for ultimate which is more expensive than ps plus premium do to no year option, gamepass core. Is basically lowest ps plus where it doesn’t come with regular gamepass just 20 games at launch and they add twice a year same as lowest tier ps plus just more expensive do to no year option,, so they pull the same stunt, the only difference is all 3 tiers of ps plus comes with online play while only 2 of the 3 subscription options comes with online play for Xbox, gamepass ultimate is the better service so to the day 1 third party games but I rather own my games physically so that doesn’t effect me.

Ditching my ps5 for a pc is the best decision i have ever made in my life More fps , more choices in how you play (keyboard & mouse + controller) , dirt cheap games (not mentioning our friends who love to sail the sea "wink wink", free online multi-player , much more customization capabilities, the ability to play old games also for dirt cheap , and above all of this , there are like 3 or 4 ps exclusive games currently and they are getting released on pc very soon , and the rest have already been released on pc , same thing goes for XBOX , its insane the amount of value console gamers are missing out on , i mean yes a good pc bulid is more expensive than a ps5 , but if you know what you are doing you can get a very powerful pc that runs 99% of games on 1440p ultra 60+fps for like 700-800$ , i bought my pc new except the cpu ( R5 5600x) and the gpu (amd rx 6700xt ) for around 740$ , it has been 4 months since I bulit it and no regrets whatsoever yet

Growing up with the PS3 (had an xbox 360 too, but never played on xbox live) online experience made me so disappointed that PS4 online was a subscription service. Primary reason I became a PC guy after that :D

I hate Microsoft mainly for creating the stupid online multiplayer paywall trend on consoles that caused Sony and Nintendo to follow suit. I stopped supporting PS Plus because i got tired of the online multiplayer paywall crap and i haven't had PS Plus since August 2016 which will not ever again subscribe to PS Plus as long as the online multiplayer paywall exist on Playstation's ecosystem. It sucks that there aren't enough gamers especially not enough big content creators with their blue check marks speaking up against the online multiplayer paywall and it sucks that a lot of them accept it without even putting up fight against it. I made a vow that if Sony doesn't entirely remove the stupid online multiplayer paywall crap by the time the PS6 comes out' i will skip the PS6 entirely. I'm usually a man of my word. Also, it sucks that some gamers defend the online multiplayer paywall crap.

People , dont give up until the end. Keep buying your games on physical media even if it's not as convenient. The day will come that Sony and MS will completely control and own all of your digital library purchases and force you to get a digital console. Unless something drastic happens you won't be able to pass down, sell or back up your game collection, as its not yours just the permission to play them (they call it a license). My kids will be getting my ps1, 2, 3, 5, xbox, 360, xbone, series, n64, gamecube and wii collection and game library to do with as they please. It matters if you love this hobby /endrant

The issue with ps vr is 1: its overpriced 2: it only has 2 games 3: the quest 3 is just better, you get more games, infact better games and you dont need a cable or a ps5

I have my Xbox 360. Then my Xbox One S and then as soon as i got paid went to PC. No more subcriptions!!! :D except PC game pass that is cool! But I only get it sometimes on sale.

straight facts. Im by no means an xbox fanboy as the only reason i had one was for forza... but at least their gamepass feels worth it. all the exclusives come to gamepass day one AND they dont seem to be taking stuff off as quickly. sony ticke me off a few months ago with this add and delete crap. got snowrunner on plus and they had all the dlc for $40ish so i got it.... only for them to take the game off a few months later. now i gotta spend up to another $40 to buy the game or eat that first $40 as a loss. super unhappy that i missed canceling my $150 subscription when i got my pc. now i got 10 months of disappointing game additions left.

Ay I do agree with this statement, as a "Sony pony", it seems so dumb how our subscription is way pricey and give us much too little compared to xbox game pass. overall, in my opinion I think each console has their down sides.

i blame xbox for some bad trends, paid online, exclusive DLC, buying companies to make games inhouse and absolutely fumbling like Rare...and they still continue to do this today! They bought Activision but i don't see the change being good until i see the change being good.

Whenever I complain about it i'm a 'fanboy' of the other consoles and it's just 'normal' now Why tf does Sony and Microsoft need money so other publishers can host their own servers? Online at this point is very useless I appreciate the 3 month ps plus extra when it’s on sale tbh, but at this point just sticking to offline is best to go
