Against the modern, try not to let them exchange the c pawn for the d pawn. What i always hate the most as a modern player is when they play Nce2 and play c3 in response to c5. Of course with your h3 g4 plan, it may leave you vulnerable to attacks. You can try to long castle, but your opponent can also do the same thing. Also, if you want to go for long castle, it may also be interesting to consider f3 to support your E pawn. Of course these are just my suggestions, we are about the same strength with me being 2135 in 10 minute rapid. Also, 新年快樂！
