My 2016 PLEASE READ - this is no shit: our family friend died, my brand new $43000 car was stolen and burnt on my favourite child hood beach, my son slammed his finger in the backyard door and broke it, completely fucked the finger multiple hospital dramas, my daughter got a cancerous tumour in her mouth, two trips to Canberra and a general anaesthetic operation, my house flooded 3 weekends in a row, we had to evacuate the kids - sandbags, blocked toilets the whole drama, I had an accident in our other car, I fell out with 3 separate friends, my band broke up, we had 2 family pets die and my son escaped out of an unlocked gate at our local child hood day care and walked up a few roads, across a HIGHWAY and a extremely busy train track and they didn't even notice him gone, got picked up by a random mother and dropped back to them. They didn't even call me about it either, another local concerned mother did and rental house was broken into, our old tenants left our house absolutely trashed, grass trashed, garden trashed, pool fucked, mess everywhere.

I can relate. My dog was diagnosed with terminal cancer in August. We watched him rapidly deteriorate for two months before we decided it was time to let him go. He had just had his tenth birthday. Literally two days after his death, my cat was also diagnosed with a terminal illness. He's sitting next to me on my bed right now, finally home from the hospital. We know he doesn't have long, though, likely no more than a couple of weeks. Watching my dog die was hellish enough, but to have my cat follow so quickly is just indescribable :(

Pets become our emotional rocks, so when we lose one, it's like the floor has been ripped out from under you and you can't quite catch your balance. Losing two so quickly...
