It was banned around the world actually, that is why it was rare and why the prices were high up since day one ... Why? It's because the game events overall story are morbid, depressing and really pointless, why they made it so dark is beyond me. Whoever was in direction of this had some major mental issues is all I can say also who on earth published in such a state is also quite questinable ... But yeah the game was banned pretty fast around the world for a valid reason. Nevermind what was said in the video, it's not just UK or that one article bashing it rather it's much more then that. The game is way too dark. Other then that the game graphically is beautiful, the CGI videos are high quality for the time too, great music but that is pretty much it. Wish they toned down the dark themes and made the story more coherent and it would be right up there with Silent Hill 2 and 3 levels of revolutionary. Watched a stream of it last year and the streamer first hyped it all up but she changed her mind up to a point where it became really depressing. I had to stop watching it and she also quit the stream maybe 30 minutes in and never finished the game too. First I didn't wanted to say much but yeah she admitted right after that she fangirled over it completely blindly since she likes horror games and adventure games a lot BUT said that the game is just too much to handle ... Sidenote: From what I remember the European (UK included) came with a OST disc too so I am surprised to see this version in the video not having that at all.

Luckily, since the Catholic Church lost much of its power, it has become quite difficult to impose bans on things over here in Italy.

Just watched dungeonchill's analysis on rule of rose and it's crazy that a shipment of the game was just recently found. Now that's a cult classic to rare if I ever saw one.

Project continuing nicely. Doing sort of similar thing myself these days, I'm preparing my stuff for a very likely move in coming months, so have started packing some stuff already, for example my PS1, packed it in it's original box, cables, memorycard, controller, everything, so it's easy to carry all in one unit. Collected also it's games to a cardboard box. Later will disassemble some furnitures so they take less space during the move, and of course in the new place, will have to put them together again.

Wow Gemma that Rule of Rose is such a cool find with such a unique story! I don't know about getting it graded though...having a game entombed in plastic where you can't even touch it let alone play it just seems wrong.

you are telling this to a person who sits on items never to be touched upon ... case in point she shown a rare TEST PS2 unit with a HDD attached to it and she doesn't even know what is on it nor seem to care ... typical hoarding basically as for the game too, it's hella depressing anyway, I like to collect games I like and play from time to time but in this case I would probably make it more collectible and store it away for a future sale when time comes for it, the game is just way too dark, hence why it was banned around the world and why it's rare since day one ...

have you ever noticed the when you look at a black xenomorph...take the time to get a good photo to check it out, try even Alien Isolation... and go over how Frieza looks untransformed and now then ask E.T. what E.T.'s level 3 transformation might look like!! its really really trippy to some, how all their life's watching Aliens and never ever noticed that it casually looks like an E.T. hi Jess I just have to let you know about your new billy bookcases. they can hold about 400 games if you add 2 more shelves. I cut my own shelves for my ikea units with old white wardrobes. Also with 8 shelves including the bottom, it looks much cleaner as all the games are facing the same way and games aren't on top of each other.

That Alien Trilogy set is "Hands-Down" is really freaking awesome ...but I'm 100% certain that playing the VHS Cassette Tapes or just in storage as you have them ...they still "Deteriorate" over time. Said Trilogy Set is still extremely collectable though!🙂

505 Games has a factory in Italy, The shipment they released was the original intended shipment that was going to uk before it got banned, they stored it in their warehouse before finally releasing it as clearence stock. The OG count was about 10k copies. That is still not a lot but i recon it will keep the price stable for 250-300 for a sealed copy for a good long while.

Syberia 1 and 2 were on PS2 and for ages the only way to play them properly is on PS2. The PC ports are on Steam and GOG but have no support for PC and it's unplayable for 20 years or so. The last time I managed to play these games on a PC were on back in Pentium4 days. Ever since then I only played them on PS2. No hassle and waste of time just plug and play that is why I still love the consoles.

Rule of Rose wasn't actually banned in the UK - or anywhere else for that matter... 505 Games just decided not to distribute it here after all the false reports and media backlash... I believe there was genuine concern over a character taking their own life though but other than that the game must be quite tame as PEGI only certified the game with a 16 rating!!

I can imagine that very few retailers were interested in stocking the game, obviously they would have to commit to hundreds, or even thousands of units. The game had reviewed poorly and the backlash was quite intense. PS3 was on the horizon and the popularity of horror games were in decline... I can only assume that 505 couldn't come to an agreement with any retail partners that made sense to them and so abandoned the planned release all together...

Wow, you're the second person I've seen that has a copy of Rule of Rose game for the PS2. The first person I saw that got it delivered to him(sealed) is G.o.G.(Gentleman of Games) here on KZbin, he recently did a video about it. He wasn't sure if the copy he got was the real deal or a counterfeit, but yeah he kept it sealed. I think he has an unsealed copy, those white shelves do indeed make the room a bit brighter. I know where the boxes came from as i was the first round of people that purchased from the first batch that came out so i pestered the seller if they were fakes and they told me where they got the box from and so i did some research and found out exactly where it came from :) i ended up buying two copies cos i wasnt sure if they were fake so one i opened to check it with my italian copy and cross ref with scans of the british copy!

usually random storage liquidations where they make lots and set bidings for them, this is how people find random stuff from back in a day so as new things for dirt cheap, this is basically all over the world I seen things that I didnt even knew was sold in my country but my guess is that it was smuggled or taken by authorities for whatever reason and then forgot about only to resurface decades later on these liquidations ...

I love the alien trilogy case that's amazing I loved alien trilogy back in the PlayStation 1 days many spooky evenings playing those levels and facing the queen! Remothered is another gem that came out on PS4 and XB1 it's very similar to the clock tower series. Going get back to the silent hill 2 remake on PlayStation 5 stay safe! ♥️🌟🫂

I got one of my grail items through the door today. Not masisvely expensive, but i was waiting literally all summer for a copy to get onto cex shelves. Pixel ripped 1985 on psvr. I wwnted a hard copy ever since I saw john riggs and Metal jesus heap praise on it. Admittedly, i couldn't wait for a hard copy and already purchased it digitally. But it's not the same as owning' so now i have a physical copy that I'll probably never even put in the console, lol. Damn just noticed you have a super mario all stars snes boxset lol. Another grail item i need. And one i will eventually get. Bills need paying first though. Ill save by not eating lol

A quick question lady loft owner.... If Rule of Rose was a lost shipment of games that were banned and rejected by the UK how come he had other rare titles too including legend of Sayuki for ps2 & Wii ? They were not banned games. I just think they over printed them in Italy and put them away, when they saw how much value they were creating they sat on them and now the market is at the peak they are selling them and the legend of Sayuki on Wii was being sold for between 400-800 now it's being sold for 120 and less than 100 for the ps2 version even though it's the Italian version not the UK version I find it fascinating how caes keep just turning up of "authentic rare titles" because this guy has sold everything in the top ten except Kuon which will probably be next 😊

I can Explain 505 games is a sub company under sony that produces and distrubes a lot of the european copies of games, including the Rule of Rose uk vers as they manufacture the games to be distrubuted to several dif european nations. The stock they had was the one they intended to ship out to uk but had to pull back last minute when the ban took place, so they just left them in storage for all these years but now are clearing them out. Sayuki Reload was another game they produced and distributed and they also distributed the european vers of Michigan Report From Hell so i will not be surprised they might also have stock of that game.

Collectors should exercise caution when acquiring copies of the game, particularly from regions where counterfeiting has been documented, as it may be difficult to distinguish between legitimate and counterfeit copies.

True but in this case this is some old stock that was left to rot in some warehouse since the game was banned worldwide. Some say it wasnt banned BUT IT ACTUALLY WAS due to it's dark tones. Game themes are suicide, animal cruelty, bulling list goes on and it doesn't send a positive message about it but rather seems way too morbid. These are the same reasons why it was ordered to be banned and pulled off the shelves where it was shipped.
