I’m guessing it’s a huge discount on insurance for their rental to not have an open fireplace (and probably less drafty in the winter), especially if it’s not operational.

Love that you do a retreat with the office crew; very important thing to do - great for morale. That fireplace was probably to do with insurance (wouldn't want strangers having fires and burning the place down), but why they didn't try to at least match the bricks...? They used something so totally different, it's such an eyesore in an otherwise beautiful place, I don't understand.
