You may not want to hear it, but your second opponent really was a rookie caliber duelist. They simply built their deck to be high-rolley enough to make up for their poor lines. That immediate recognition that snake-eye oak isn't a bad card. Love to see the reading, keep it up. That ninja may become your ace monster.

the tearlament player wasn't rookie level, they should be around plat maybe but not rookie. A rookie player should be new to the game and not be able to combo with tearlaments

I'm really into Yu GI Oh and have been playing a lot, there are a lot of different cards that allows the player to activate in reaction to one thing or another. And cards that can activate in either turn. It is very complicated with more then 10000 cards, and in general if you don't read a lot it will just go over your head.

The last time i played Yugioh was on 2013 or 2014 when the Masked Hero Structure was out. I did played Duel Links but its nothing like TCG or OCG. I started playing Master Duel last year and I remember how hard it was. I felt like i was doing PHD on Yugioh 😂😂😂

As someone who plays master duel I wish you Good Luck. Also have a good deck ready by silver rank. You'll encounter more sword soul, tearlaments and other meta decks that can play comb on your turn(silver rank and beyond). If you still want to play by setting some cards and a monster then pass turn. I would recommend a burn or stun deck. I'm sure there other options but in my opinion these two decks can get you started until you decide to try something else. That all have to say Good Luck once again.😉

This video is an excellent example of why playing Yu-Gi-Oh is basically impossible now unless half your deck is hand traps. The game has degenerated into an overpowered combo fest where you just splooge your hand on to the field and win automatically if your opponent has no interruptions.

Not sure how far you're in the series, but play story mode for a lot of great cards. And craft certain cards in the set you want at a Sr or ur level to open their particular secret pack. I used to main rituals, but I've been loving g red dragon archfiend for a few years now.

The low ranks are a mix of smurfs/alts, genuine new players to Yugioh, and people who arent new to Yugioh and already know exactly what they want to play. Can definitely be a huge pain for new and returning players.

Try Monarchs. No extra deck=no problem. The only deck I've Been using since I came back a couple years ago. Very yugiboomer friendly and easy to make different variations of the deck.

@@GodOfCasuals It shows you what cards can be searched, with what, what cards relate to each other, what actions you can take. It holds you hands so much compared to if you were to just play it pure. It shows you what effects are activated, which have already been activated etc. Something you'd have to track manually in your head otherwise. It has Solo Mode to help you learn different Archetypes and get familiar with the game and you can try decently good decks with the tactical tryout deck.

There are a lot of decks that can xyz summon, fusion, synchro summon and link summon during the opponents turn XD without the use of generic spell or traps. That’s unfortunate that you were playing against so many smurfs tho 😭😭 I felt so bad watching that

This is actually good. Back at 2016 I also last watch a gx game, so I have to learn synchro and xyz, now 2024 I kinda dropped the link since there was rule you need to link first before you can synchro etc (although that rule later changed) I still am confused about link monster haha

Lesson 1.: Never buy master packs. They suck. Lesson 2.: Always open packs 10 at a time. If you want the guaranteed UR to never miss you. Technically, the best bang for your buck would be to buy 3 copies of one of the structure decks, for 1500 gems, so you can build a decent deck from an archetype of your choice among a pretty decent selection. Or to get the swordsoul structure deck, it's flippin' free.

I don't know anything about Yugioh but I have 2 questions: How are they in the lowest possible rank in the game and why do they get to do things when their turn ended?

The first one I can easily answer. When a season is over (1 month's time), a new season begins and everyone is demoted to the rank below. So since it's August now I think I'll be in Rookie 1 again. The 2nd one... no clue. It's something I'll have to find out but it's usually that certain ability can only be activated when a condition has been met. And I guess it was... multiple times.

I've tried getting into the series but I tend to find certain things a little over my head like having to learn all the rules and what such and such does or how to draw certain cards through certain actions etc. As long as you're having fun with the game, that's the main thing :) Game looks fun, I don't think I can wrap my head around the rules or things like synchro summoning or using xyz cards etc.

Ok I can answer the second question. Some effects trigger during End Phase, for one. Then there are things like Trap Card, which you can activate after the turn you set them in, and these can be activated during your opponent's turn. Then we also have a Quick Effects, which is pretty similar, but without the whole 'activate after the turn you set it' restriction That's the very simplified explanation. Getting into things like chaining speed might be a bit complicated, but it does get explained in the tutorial

Do yourself a favor a build a Ninja deck (is a structure deck so it will be very cheap, 1500 gems total) you will actually learn how to play this game and also become a better duelist.

A little advice bro the master packs is the worst thing for new players. Craft a Sr of the archetype you want to play it will unlock the selection pack so it’s easier to get your combo pieces you need

@@Masterath mostly just gems and accessoires. You do get some cards like Raigeki but you can just decide to not use them, like the starter deck cards. Also you will get Legacy Packs from playing ranked duels. You should change the rules so just get a master pack from your opponent disconnecting too. Believe me, this change won’t make your deck broken.

The game got a lot harder the more time went on. Back when the game came out I got to gold with the starter deck, but now everyone has had time to build high end decks so really I think there is no difference in difficulty going from bronze to plat. Its just a matter of who has more knowledge when it comes to how all decks work/play (drawing a good starting hand also helps).

What you realy will need are handtraps cards like ash blossom and joyouse spring, infinite impermanence and maxx c are a must have in every deck in master duel. These should be your first crafts if you want to craft and play seriously

Ah you sweet summer child... Seriously for your sanity (and for you to make any progression) I REALLY wouldn't recommend doing a randomizer/masochist run as your first foray back into Yu Gi Oh. You see those last two matches you had? That IS Yu Gi Oh now. And your rank is irrelevant as all levels from Rookie upwards are infested with smurf accounts because MD is a free game. It's a fun idea but I think you'll just burn yourself out after a couple episodes and be done and it would be a shame for that to happen imo. Yu Gi Oh has a serious new/returning player problem (for reasons you've just seen) I'd highly recommend getting a cohesive deck of some kind together. Playing regular Yu Gi Oh is hard enough without placing restrictions on yourself.

You should play the story mode until you get 6000 gems. Then give yourself a rule for buying one of the staple packs (ash blossom, effect veiler etc.). They come with 10 master packs and 1 staple so at least you can start deck building faster and guaranteed at least 1 usable card. Maybe every 10 wins you can buy 1. You can make a Random Wheel and put all the staple packs on it so you don't get to choose which one you get. At least when you get frustrated you can just disassemble all the cards you got and make a better deck 🤣🤣. That said Every new player gets the Sword Soul Deck. if they aren't using that deck they are probably using some variant of a tier 1-3 deck, burn deck or blind second OTK deck. Which will get annoying to play against. Funny enough I started a new game a few hours before reset, made a Yubel, Snake-Eyes and Kashtira deck (don't ask me what this is 🤣🤣) and I made it to Platinum 5 in a few hours. You can get the Sword Soul deck for free and use it for Solo mode to farm gems. Just enter another player's code in the friend section. You can pretty much get 6000 gems in an hour or 2 with that deck. If you started earlier in the month you should have also got a Galaxy Eyes deck for free as well. So you'd have one XYZ and one Synchro based deck to practice with. Just make sure you skip all the solo games that make you play with their deck I don't know how often you plan to upload, but good luck with your videos.

to be fair, i think you'd be better off playing yugioh duel links, at least playing it first, because the card pool there is significantly reduced compared to master duel, there are still some very strong decks, but in general it's considerably less complicated and extended than most meta decks in master duel, and i think you can build good decks easier, but you'd have to check deck recipes to target certain cards/boxes and stuff like that, master duel does have a card crafting system, but at the same time, it feels like no matter how strong of a deck you build there, you just get demolished most of the time by countless negations and card removals, in duel links you actually have a chance at least ,in pvp. But regardless, in both cases, you should (just a recommendation) farm npc/story stuff, to get more gems/crystals to buy more cards, you can also buy structure decks with crystals. But yeah, pvp yugioh is really tough in general, i usually don't play pvp seriously in master duel, i just do dailies there, duel links is where i actually can play pvp and have a decent time, that's why i'm recommending it
