Looks like the addition of the SSQA has opened up a world of possibilities! Everything is shaping up nicely! No matter how old our kids are, being able to help them and take care of them is a blessing from God and your love for your children is obvious in your videos. God Bless!

That rock bucket is neat, have to check them out and see if they have any dealers over here and for other brands of tractors, in Missouri. We have the same problem here, rocks are heavy in the fields, roads and creek areas.

Letsdig18 needs one of this and one similar attachment for the excavator for removing trees and brush. Its good to leave the sand and dirt behind and pick up only stones and trees.

Lucas: nice work on the first attempt. Those rocks do not stand a chance against it. Is there a screen that you can add to get the smaller ones? I have picked up most of the rocks at my place, but they keep popping up in the spring. Take care and "ROCK ON DUDE". 😎

Not that I know of. I’ve had a couple folks comment that they add a grid or chicken wire for that purpose. I’m not sure how all of that would work, but I know that this saved me a lot of back breaking work as it is! 👊

Weld some smaller hole mesh on the under part of the bucket to help get rid of the smaller rocks from falling back

I found this size to be about right for what I wanted. It left just above gravel size rocks. I think sifting the dirt out effectively would get harder if you go much smaller.

That and a landscape rake looks like the perfect combination. Set the landscape rake at an angle to move the rocks even some smaller ones into a row, then scoop them up with the rock bucket 👍
@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead
@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead 2 ай бұрын
It might be the ticket! I haven’t used a landscape rake yet so I was wondering how they compare. Maybe it isn’t a comparison, but like you said, maybe they would work great together…
@angryoverlanding5955
@angryoverlanding5955 2 ай бұрын
The landscape rake is great at moving debris from dry dirt, it works best when angled so the debris can roll off the side. When used straight the debris pulls the dirt with it after a bit. Make a couple of passes until the debris row gets to big to handle, then use the rock bucket. I just had a 4 in 1 I used. Rock would be perfect

Wrong song! It should've been Rocky Top! Ok, just kidding. I'm thinking about rigging up some hardware cloth left over from the chicken run build onto the root rake grapple to try and make a poor man's rock bucket. Hope it works! Keep up the good work.

If you want the little stuff you Could wire down some chicken wire to the inside of the bucket
@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead
@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead 2 ай бұрын
I really felt like this was the perfect setup overall. There are some rocks left, but not anything big enough to cause trouble. I am thinking if I sifted it finer that it would get a lot harder to shake the dirt through. Overall I am very satisfied! That might be useful for some projects though…
@earlyriser8998
@earlyriser8998 2 ай бұрын
Lucas, might discuss the spacing you chose between tines. I went with a 3 inch which I though would be better and was too wide. Ended up putting chicken wire on top to make the holes smaller. But I agree that it does a great job for what it is to remove rocks, or other debris, from your soil.
@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead
@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead 2 ай бұрын
Great point. Artillian really only has the one spacing and it seemed to work perfect for this application. It leaves some small rocks, but nothing big enough to hurt a mower. So how did the chicken wire work out? Is it holding up?

@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead
@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead 2 ай бұрын
I would be interested in knowing as well. I’ve not used a landscape rake. I may try to get access to one for comparison. That was my original plan, but when I found this, I felt like it would have so many other uses! Being 54” it is great for hauling more firewood and I’m learning that it works well for digging too.
