It looks like a nice rock bucket. I think if you scooped it and then raised it up and dumped it a couple of times you would loosen the soil around the rocks so that you wouldn't have to shake it so long and hard to separate the rocks and debris.
@OldIronAcres Жыл бұрын
Very cool Attachment! Seems like if you were to scoop, lift, dump... then re-scoop... it might be less of the "shaking out the fines". (might break up the dirt some before shaking) - - Just an observation!! YOU do YOU!!

To separate the dirt better I would scoop up the material, lift it, dump it to break up the dirt, and then scoop it up again. The broken up dirt clumps should fall through the bucket easier. And dang it, Brock, I sure could use one of those! Why do you do this to me? 😂

That rock bucket should get some pretty good use around "Rockhill Farm." The bucket would be great for picking up debris culled by a landscape rack after some grading. Interested in the width and weight of the bucket as well.

I love getting a new tractor attachment for my subcompact Massey. So far I have bucket, pallet forks (so useful), box blade, trailer mover, and a tiller. Next I think I want a stump bucket. I wish I would have purchased the backhoe option. It can't be added to mine as the frame is different on the backhoe models.

I need one to "pick" prickly pear cactus! I would love one with an "add a grapple" to hang onto the cactus so it does not fall out.
@chrisyohn7054 Жыл бұрын
They are designed to pick rocks from a plowed field. The dirt will pass through the bucket as you drive over the field from rock to rock and when you flip the individual rocks back into the bucket
@johngersna3263 Жыл бұрын
Good morning Brock. I think that the rock bucket is a great attachment for any tractor. I'm like you though, I think that shaking the dirt through the bucket would put a lot of stress on the loader arms and cylinders. Not to mention the front axle. I think that how I would use it is to go over the ground with a box blade, then a landscape rake, get a pile of rocks and material and then use the rock bucket and that way there would be a lot less dirt mixed in with the debris. Just one old man's opinion. God bless and have a wonderful day. 👍👍🙂

Hi, Brock. I have a rock bucket with grapple for my 90hp CTL. Mine has two independent grapples plus detachable side plates so if I want to carry something longer, like logs, I can a little easier. Like your content. Keep up the good work

Everything seemed fine but looks like you might need to tilt it back a little bit more when you shake the dirt thanks for sharing love the videos blessings
@roycebraman4311 Жыл бұрын
Seems that if you could add a rake to the top of the rock bucket, pull the debris back and then scoop what you raked, would be a cleaner operation.
@alaskanhomesteading Жыл бұрын
I'd probably shake it differently, using the dump/curl function instead of the lift/lower function. That's how I shake snow out of my loader bucket, or settle loads of dirt/gravel in it, for example. That looked like it would be hard not only on the loader mount, but also the front axle. It might take less bouncing to sift, if you took smaller "bites" of material, and I agree with what someone else wrote that breaking up the soil a bunch first, then scooping some material to sift might make it looser and easier. Just my $.02, which ain't worth much since I don't have a rock bucket.
@johnwinsemius4423 Жыл бұрын
scoop the load and then dump it to lossen the dirt and then scoop it up and the dirt will shift out easier

I think Courtney over at Good Works Tractors sells one on his site. He usually teies to hit the sweet spot of quality and price.

A rock bucket is on my wish list too but high clay soil doesn't seem compatible with a rock bucket. I think I'll have the same problem you have with soil not falling through the tines without excessive shaking. A homemade stand alone sifter is probably more efficient although not nearly as cool.

What is the length of the new rock bucket?

I wonder if an electrical vibration device attached the bucket would help the dirt to flow through.

When you use a rock bucket you should work up the dirt so it's more like powder that way the dirt falls through it and don't dig so deep you're trying to use it like a bucket

That poor air filter is going to need changing. They make these things called portable rock screens as well as rock pickers. I think I'd look at one of those before damaging a $40K tractor.
@RavensRidgeNC Жыл бұрын
meh - a bit of wear and tear is expected with these machines, I'd vote for it being worth sifting the rocks out from the dirt. I wonder if the hoard of rocks are leftovers from land clearing for agriculture? Hometown Acres had a massive pile he's used for projects, all neatly piled in the woods, figured that's where his came from.
@badlad9045 Жыл бұрын
Don't discard those rocks and roots that material is very good making the bottom of Roads

I’m with the majority. Shake away. John Deere over engineers these machines (lower lift capacity etc.). If the machine can do it it can do it. I wouldn’t back off unless it causes problems.
