A big part of it was the NFL's creation of Prokick in 2007, a system created to poach Australian Rules players as NFL punters. All the new kicking techniques that have come into the game have been in the AFL for decades. Just go have a quick look at how many Australians have been punters in the NFL for the last 30 years now, even more in the college game.

No, they signed him back in July after KC waived him, because Robbins sucked last season. I used to punt 60 yarders for fun in highschool and college. If you lower your drop slightly and extend the ball out a little more than comfortable, you can missile that ball far as shit. The hang time will be slightly lower but you could rocket that ball. It wasn’t uncommon for me to hit a 55+ 4.0+ punt, I just wasn’t even close to being consistent. There’s nothing like the feeling of perfect contact on a punt and looking up to see that ball spiraling fast as shit. Seems like punters nowadays are absolutely perfecting the science of it. Being able to repeatedly do it over and over again. As a former kicker and punter this is great to see!! So awesome to see videos like this actually appreciating the art of special teams and kickers and punters
