Doug took Dwan's comment way too personally. Dwan was correct in that its not a good precedent to allow players to make "binding" (not really binding) declarations at the table, because for every 98 players who do it in an honest manner there is going to be 2 or 3 that use it to angle, and a newcomer to the stream like Hank probably wont be able to tell the difference, so it always correct to never turn your hand over if you are in Hank's position regardless of how trustworthy the other player may seem.

@@bullyboy131 True, but it's hard to not do that. I don't know what % of himself he had in this game (did we ever even hear what %??), but if he had more than 50% I'd be surprised. That said, even $500k is still a lot of money. For me, I'd be more scared to lose other people's money than my own. I don't like letting down people that trust me. It's just not a good look. But it's also hard to not get exploited a little sometimes when your whole career is on YT as well as all the times you've done analysis on a hand and then you give a lot of insight into how you play/think in given situations. I don't know if LSG Hank has ever watched any of that, but certainly Doug has a rep and I'm sure most high stakes people know generally what the rep is!

I have to say it is quite interesting to me after watching the full stream as to how you critiqued Durr, in the sense that you, on an poker intellectual level as far as level of experience and mastery of game play, and even more so on aspects of poker social etiquette, challenged his intelligence, and vice versa how he challenged you. I find the interactions between you two to be an interesting dynamic in that you both are so well versed in the game and are at the top echelons of the poker world, you two were almost having this intellectual feud in the most amicable way. I would love to see a HU match or continue to play at this level and battle. It sucks the bluff you ran against him was unfortunate timing, although you both would be and have been incredibly interesting to watch interact and play massive pots against. Love to see two Titans and Crushers at poker battle it out, Roman Gladiator level stuff. Lets hope this continues...

I loved this breakdown. I'm glad u went so I depth and took ur time. I don't think I can make that fold. No chance I'm gonna be in a situation where I'm calling a mil bet but even in terms of a majority of my bankroll on the line I still have to call. Especially considering it's early in the stream and u have backup bullets and the game is super live so there's plenty of chances to win the money back. Btw. I think Tom was right about the angle shooting aspect. Imagine Hank showed his cards and then you decide to look at your Aces, shuffle them and pick one. Not saying that you would remember which card is the Ace of hearts but I can certainly imagine quite a number of players doing exactly that. Just never show your cards to anyone till the hand is over. Esp. not in a 7-figure pot. lol

It would also leave a weird taste to the hand if he magically selected the ace of hearts twice (25% chance) after seeing the cards of his opponents. Hustler already had issues with weird all-in calls in the past so I wouldn't put that kind of pressure on them, again.

I think the angling idea is a bit more complex than that. For example, if Hank does show his hand someone could manipulate the card flip to see Ah Ah twice. I'm not suggesting you'd ever do that doug, but it's the same as showing someone your hand pre. You'll always be wondering what impact it may have had on the outcome of the hand. GG

Doug was not angling, but i always felt angling should be a part of the game. in this case as doug reveals cards to randomise his call frequency he can try to get a live read from hanks face. hank knowing hes now stone cold bluffing has to sit there and poker face his way through it to win, its where the psychology meets the maths the game is most fun.

I think you played that hand great. But as a fish I would have more liked a 33% or even 50% chance of calling here as you don't have the Ad unblocking all those monster draws that would definitely wanna see the river. And given that the only hands that can really shove here are QQ and JTd for value I would have gone with 50/50 calling it down or not. Wouldn't have mattered anyways as you immediately picked the wrong ace, but that's just what I was thinking seeing the hole cards as a chat pro. Kudos to you for taking that bluff like a champ and not tilting a bit after that. Great stream all in all!

these are not long winded at all. these are great!! always loved your breakdowns and it's great to see you break down some starring you. also i snap call that river jam every day. Ride or die with aces. which is why i only play $1/2 games cause i iz scrub. In a million dollar game i reckon i'd still call it and poop myself as he flips. I remember you mentioning this before a long time ago, but the stakes should not affect how you play. i know that is easier said than done.

I was really looking forward to this analysis because in real time I couldn’t imagine you would find a fold. Solver nerd analytics aside, you make a good point. It’s a million dollar shove over a $200k bet. Not a lot of players have the heart to make that move. Good luck on the comeback.
