But from buyers standpoint, without the influencers. Temu is actually pretty good. Ppl always have this unusual accusation that low prices = skecty ...but if you look deeper into it, there are alot of individual sellers on temu. And let's be honest. Amazon is the same as temu. There are so many sellers on there that get their things from cheaper places and sell it a higher prices which is worse Edit: plus as a college student, my stuff from there has held up pretty well

I used Temu a lot already and never ever had a bad experience from it. In this video some products that Naomi used are actually just fine when you think about the price and with the makeup she just wanted to enhance that it’s cheap. But not that bad. That’s why I wouldn’t say this is a honest review either but so are not all paid promos either. However I stopped purchasing after realizing the other issues when it comes to worker payment and sustainability. Can’t support that.

Hey Naomi and everyone else! I just wanted to say that those jeans at 9:40 are originally from a online shop called "Racer worldwide", just in case someone was interested ✌️
@no-cz7js
@no-cz7js Жыл бұрын
$119 for a pair of jeans is probably why people buy fast fashion in the first place. Majority of people all over the world make minimum wage or less - unless they were born with a silver spoon, got lucky getting a good job, or work for themselves. Fast fashion isn’t ethical of course not but charging over $100 for a pair of jeans with a rather simple design is absurd. After bills, rent or mortgage, groceries and gas- how much money would the average person have left for leisurely things? Therefore, forcing people to find cheaper alternatives that best suits their budget. I don’t shame nor blame anyone who buys from fast fashion apps. Brands would get alot more profit if their products would be widely accessible to everyone regardless of their salary. This isn’t directed at you btw.
@faeriefire8
@faeriefire8 Жыл бұрын
@@no-cz7js I agree to point, I definitely can’t afford to buy $119 dollar jeans, but when things are made sustainably this price isn’t really unrealistic. I think the overconsumption of our society has kind of brainwashed us to this idea that we need to have a ton of different clothes, when in reality we don’t. And if we only bought what we needed instead of a bunch of pieces every time a new trend came then I think sustainability could be affordable. I will say though in terms of fast fashion i don’t judge, except for people who shop at shein. Shein makes way more clothing than other fast fashion sites and the awful stuff that has come out about them I don’t think is excusable just because people want cute clothing.
@peachpotchi
@peachpotchi Жыл бұрын
@@no-cz7js Sorry but I think $119 is pretty resonable, especially since they're independent and small designers, they also have to make their money. I see a lot of bigger brands who charge the same money or more for normal jeans without any designs and awful quality, those are the ones who deserve the blame.
@MPress444
@MPress444 Жыл бұрын
@stella4320, thank you so much for sharing!!! @no-cz7js, $100 is worth a pair of jeans that will last years. Fast Fashion kills the desire of the masses to own a pair of jeans that will last 3-7 years because "it isn't a trendy style anymore" in less than a year. Companies are jumping on trends (to be competitive and opportunistic), and since people want to be trendy, they only "need" a pair that will last a few months. Quality and cost are reduced as a result, creating more product and a greater push to sell fast, therein, more waste. Our desires to be up-to-date on the "coolest stuff of right now" is wasteful and leads to companies working employees harder in order to push product faster. Then people get mad when something rips or seams come out on a new thing they bought, and blame the workers for doing "a bad job" when those workers went from needing to sew, say, 2 items in a day, to now being told to sew 40 items in a day for the same paycheck while the ever-increasing threat of being replaced by someone who is willing to cut corners on some sewing techniques to make 50 items. Those corners being cut is overlooked by companies pushing product because they know the items don't have to last and the consumers are expected to think "oh well it didn't really matter that it came ripped cause it was only $5", and throw it out rather than go through the hoops and loops of getting that $5 back. And then here you are complaining that when the companies that do not support Fast Fashion end up showing that they support their employees and treat them fairly, not create excess and add to waste, by asking for a price that keeps the company's income sustained. As a collective, we can address this and help change the Fast Fashion mindset by reducing the shifts in trendsetting. Enjoying our clothing for longer, respecting the designs that sustain the products for longer, not cutting corners on manufacturing techniques or overhead cost, and not being wasteful. Remember, WE are the masses. WE as a collective are capable of setting trends by valuing things for longer periods of time.

@@no-cz7js i'd rather pay more for something that isnt going to fall apart in 3 months + doesnt contain lead + wasn't made with child labour. $119 for a pair of original design jeans is actually pretty reasonable. It's more economically efficient to buy something that will last than something that will fall apart and need replacing pretty soon. Also I personally haven't seen many low income people in my life ordering off shein and temu, the people I know usually thrift or buy clothes from affordable local stores (like $5 for a shirt). When it comes to the giant fast-fashion hauls however, it's usually the people you're referring to who were born w a silver spoon doing those.

A safer alternative to permanent hair straightening is Japanese hair straightening (thermal reconditioning) this process is naturally formaldehyde-free meaning no cancer in exchange for straight hair. I think one of my biggest issues with it is seeing older people buy stuff from there. These are people who aren't entirely aware of these types of websites and compare it to Amazon. And while Amazon does sell these cheap drop shipping items, they also sell from reputable brands. It's kind of just a scam for people who aren't entirely technology or internet literate. Just don't buy electronics from them, that's my biggest warning I think lol they are NOT real products.

Honestly I find it so interesting how people are out here defending Temu with their heart and soul and using the defense of “temu is like Amazon”. Like we all know Temu is using unethical business practices and we know Amazon is too! Amazon, temu, wish, shein, Ali express, are all awful places that we shouldn’t buy from. However, no one is attacking you for buying shit from those places, we know how these shops purposely target people of lower economic status with their low prices. Just bc you buy from their doesn’t make you a bad person but that doesn’t mean we can’t criticize Temu.

All this whataboutism is why nothing will change. Things could if we all agreed whatever products sold here should be safe for consumers and change the legal amounts for heavy metals, etc to 0 . There's not much we can do about ethics, but we can have more transparency. I wish more documentaries were made about the fashion industry like the one Canada marketplace and another I saw about factories collapsing in India. As well as suspicious things happening in the US. I see a lot of hidden sewing factories and I'm worried about the people working in them. Also, also that workers could be exposed to dangerous things like lead. I think that's a worldwide crisis. I get that a lot is made in china which could cause political issues, but what if imports get randomly tested or companies get tested like in the canada marketplace documentary? Anyway. I'm disappointed in everyone for turning on each other (mainly those defending these companies) rather than standing together. And for continuing to buy crap that just ends up in the garbage for its quality and also despite funds being stolen from customers. Where are your standards or self-respect? They're putting you at risk, taking your money and you're here smiling with your products like it's all okay.- This has been weighing on me a lot and I felt comforted seeing your comment.

People are definitely attacking other people for where they buy from. And I personally really haven’t seen anyone defending temu… just explaining that a company’s method of operation is not like another website just because they’re both Chinese. People are criticizing a website not because they understand how it works but because they saw someone else give incorrect information, and that’s kind of messed up. Like they couldn’t even tell you who the Uyghur people are I could not care less about where you shop at but don’t spread misinformation just because you don’t like something… we’re all better than that. Do research. Do more research.

@@Mystery880 The direct-to-purchaser Chinese imports aren’t tested because of the way our import system works. Which needs to change… the entire problem with temu *originally* was because there are so many packages coming in that can bypass inspection per recent UFLPA enforcement updates. So officials wanted to investigate to make sure that the products are adhering to the standards. Have to say the dress is lovely, the nightie is nice too and my only issue with the top was the zip up the front of it was a bit cheap and I feel it's gonna break very easily. The fake nails are very cheap looking, haven't tried putting them on yet but will see how they go (they were only 88p after all). I don't know what they charge for shipping because they had an offer of free shipping on at the time I ordered my things. I doubt I will use Temu for everything but the clothing I've bought so far has arrived fast, fits true to size on me and isn't all of that nasty cheap material you get from some of these cheaper websites.
