Nintendo never prevented Mario from being in Wreck it Ralph, the director has said he was allowed to use him, but didn't find a simple reference would do Mario's status proud, and wasn't able to make a good scene to put Mario in, and that he was planning on putting mario into an eventual sequel. I know we all like to circlejerk blame Nintendo, but try to do so over actual (bad) decisions they make...

Isaac Argesmith Yeah, as a psa. Sonic was treated in that game like a former movie turned tv star in a public ad. Sonic was in the equivalent of a nostalgic Geico ad. They wanted Mario to have a bigger role but felt it'd be better to wait for the sequel instead of shoehorning him in. Or maybe the director is a sega fan and thinks Nintendon't. Either way, this movie isn't going to affect another ongoing franchise. Especially one that did so well.

H enryuuki there's also the fact that Fix-it is pretty much an expy of Mario, (much like Wreck-it Ralph was an expy of Donkey Kong), so it probably would've been awkward to have characters who were very similar to members of your cast appear in the movie.

Actually Nintendo did give permission for Wreck it Ralph to use Mario. The director just dint use him because he couldn't find a way to incorporate him in respectfully................yet they incorporated Sonic in just fine. I don't know maybe Sega begged them to throw him in.

Actually Andre Nintendo was cool with Mario being in Wreck-It Ralph, it was the team behind the movie that couldn't find a place for him! Here check this out: "The hard thing was, we were trying to work out the right way to use a character like Mario", producer Clark Spencer told Total Film. "It had to be organic to the film, we didn't want to just paste him in there. For Bowser, it made perfect sense for him to be a member of the Bad Anon group. For Mario himself we couldn't think of the right way to incorporate him into the film, and so we didn't do it." So don't go blaming Nintendo for that one!

Was I literally the only one who truly enjoyed this movie? It wasn't the best, but I honestly thought that this movie was very visually pleasing and the story had a good concept, even if it wasn't the most well put together. I watched this movie with my mom, who was an 80's kid, and I could just see her eyes sparkle with nostalgia throughout the entire thing. And as a guy who enjoys classic video games, despite being born in the late 90's, I found it so cool and I just wished I could be in their shoes, playing video games in real life. Of course, unlike 99% of the world, my family actually likes Adam Sandler, so maybe that's it.

I think that people were determined not to like this film because Adam Sandler was the star of it. Fair enough. But the support cast made this movie awesome. Pete Dinklage with his prison demands...(pure charismatic genius). The effects and homage to arcade gaming was brilliant. Both Adam Sandler and Kevin James worked well in this movie... The nerdy kids who grew up and had a moment to shine. 4 out of 5.

I knew this movie was going to have problems, but this is going way beyond what I expected. I'm glad I didn't go see it in theatres just to make a review video about it, that truly would have been a waste of money. Hearing how badly they messed Q-Bert up and this Lady Lisa woman existing when she has no purpose other than a love interest and, excuse my language, but why the frak would Q-Bert even transform into this woman? That makes no logical sense, even for this movie! I was talking with a friend on Twitter and she was saying that this movie should have been the sequel to Wreck It Ralph and with your idea about having the 80s kids being at the forefront, I think that would have been perfect. You expressed my feelings for this movie perfectly. I was so freaking angry (spoiler if someone reading the comments before watching) with the whole lady not being pixelated while everyone else was, and then have Quebert turn into her. I was so angry and the year later thing made it a little bit better, but not entirely. And the fact that the creator of PacMan couldn't turn PacMan good, but the fact that the other dude could turn that woman good in less time irritated me to no end!!! I did however, like seeing the duckhunt dog and some of the smaller things of the movie, but still. Wish this movie had ended differently and changed a few things that would've made more sense.

I was taken by my cousin to see this on my birthday. There was only one other group in the theater and they left halfway through. I had to take a "bathroom break" at one point just so I could yell in anguish.

Here's what they should have done. They should have gotten Patrick Jean (The original creator of the short this movie was based on, hell they even got him to produce this thing) to directed, and Chris Columbus to write along with Tim Herlihy and ditch Timothy Dowling (Who I think was the thing that dragged this movie down, just look at his IMDb Page), and this movie would have been a hell of a lot better....

It was random fun lol. A lot of stuff was dumb & I even called it out in the theater, out loud while I was watching. I watched it for my 17th bday on the 26th, the joy was from watching it with friends not the movie itself. Please review Vacation, I'm seeing Mission this weekend but I wanna know if I should check out Vacation

Yeah I saw Pixels with little brothers because they begged so hard. It was weird having aliens use video game characters as weapons. I did enjoy the jokes though. It made me laugh pretty hard. After hearing your review on it makes me agree with you. Maybe the plot could have been something like the kids vs video game characters. Or maybe the kids vs old school video game villians. I feel so bad not knowing much about Q*bert. So which video game movie was more enjoyable Wreck it Ralph or Pixels?

I believe there is a part in Wreck-it-Ralph where Felix comments about Mario being fashionably late. There's also a picture of him in the hallway of Tapper bar I think.

Here's what you do with this movie: Someone makes a supercut with all the good parts. Meanwhile, we all watch the actually enjoyable original short this was based on, wondering why it even needed a feature-length version.

The beginning of Pixels is what the whole movie should have been about. The story of a bunch of friends entering a video game contest with high stakes, well high stakes for kids, and us watching to see if their young friendships could endure. Instead we get a very, very, VERY bored looking Adam Sandler dicking around with video game characters most audiences only recognize from vintage T-shirts from Target.

I loved the movie!! I don't care if people kept reminding me that it's an Adam Sandler movie...I watched it in the cinemas and loved it...I bought an ex-rental dvd for $10, watched it again and loved it!!! BUT!! I loved the ending credits the most since it's the whole movie running through in 8-bit style...sooooooooo! If they had made the whole movie like this then I would have been blown away! xD

Disney did have to rights to use Mario in Wreck-it Ralph, but they just didn't use him. Bowser and the Super Mushroom made it in.

I would definitely see the your movie pitch idea in theaters. You know what, at this point, if Hollywood wants to do a reboot of any old school cartoon or T.V show, they should consult YOU first. At least you would have the respect for the source material (not saying other reboots don't but still).
