Imagine the journey from receiving a devastating diagnosis to witnessing your child perform piano masterpieces at 21, despite challenges in communication and independence. Milosz's music has been his voice and a source of inclusion, highlighting his incredible achievements. My message is simple: never give up, seek help boldly, and be the chance someone needs. Bozena Gasior is an adjunct professor of German and English as a Second Language (ESL) at the University of Tampa and Saint Petersburg College in Florida. She is deeply committed to advocating for the special needs community. Bozena served as a parent co-chair of the Pinellas County Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Advisory Committee for many years and is a champion for supporting the disabled in fulfilling their potential to participate actively in their communities. Bozena’s book, "I Heard the Light: A Mother's Story of Her Son's Journey Through Autism to Self-Expression," shares her young son's own journey to self-expression through music - eventually becoming a prodigious classical and jazz pianist. While dedicated to her son’s inspiring story of adapting to his autism, her book offers hope and encouragement to caregivers of all those with special needs. When my son was diagnosed at the age of 3, I was only offered Special Ed & therapies for him. He was non-verbal with global learning delays, and cognitive issues. I was told that when he is 18 I would have to find him an institution! My son is 9yo now, verbal, in General Education with minimal supports. He has great visual memory, he is social, he has no behavioral issues. Never ever give up!

Only Lord GOD can sustain you and give you that kind of persistence and strength! *** “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved” Psalm 55:22 *** Bozena’s book: "I Heard the Light: A Mother's Story of Her Son's Journey Through Autism to Self-Expression" is amazing! I was reading it non-stop until I saw the last page. You will learn lots about challenges that Milosz and his Family had to go through. You will also learn lots about famous composers and their amazing pieces of music. You will look at this heart moving musical piece on You Tube. Most of all, you will learn lots about Milosz’s gift of love for music, his musical God given talent, his hard work, and persistence in mastering every note. Music is his love language! This is the only language he has the ability to explore for now. Bozena Gasior heard the light, she kept fighting for her son to be included, and she still does.
