Just pulled the trigger on one of these bad boys from B&h It's being delivered tomorrow morning. I'm getting ready to send my Z9 off to Nikon to have it serviced and the rubber grip repaired where the glue is failing. My Nikon F3 is also having a shutter capping issue so it has to go into the shop and I've been doing photography professionally for a little bit without a backup camera so I've already kind of been playing with fire in that regard so I decided it would be good to get a second body really looking forward to using this camera

Hello Vahagraphy, You spot on, I do not have the Zf but a friend does, it is not a light plastic camera as you say in dose have some weight in it. So in dose find vary more like the good old Nikon FM's but with all the new bits added, including weight I do think it is heavier then my old film cameras. But has so many great things in a small body. I can see why it's a hit. I do not have it one my list to bye I have enough cameras. Go stay well and have fun.

The ZF and Z8 are probably the best cameras ever made. I enjoy shooting my Z8 everyday with my Viltrox 75mm 1.2 and sigma 18/35mm 1.8 or 14mm 1.8 ! I don’t mind switching to DX : 21MP is more than enough for 99% of my photography. The ZF looks like a perfect upgrade from the DF too !

Vahagn wow! That ZF does look great. Nice review. Judging by the size of the camera and compared to your hands it looks like a good candidate for a quality handstrap. My fear is dropping it. However, with it being smaller and lighter perhaps that isn't an issue. Looks like a nice addition to the stable. Reminds me of my first Nikon 2000. Rock and Roll all the way to YAAMAVA’ baby!

hehe thanks Jim. I would not use this for weddings. long events. Thats what the Z9 is for. however, this being a smaller camera, this has its joy. I want a different feeling camera when Im doing personal photography as a civilian instead of a pro. Perfect when I put my hobby hat on. lol. hey btw. you been to yaamava. lol. Great place to see shows. eat. and gamble. lol its like vegas without the 280 mile distance.

I shot my Zf inside of an old woolen mill last week. I had three out of focus image out of 135 and all were my fault for not flipping the cursed flippy screen around so I could confirm my focus point location. I shot high ISO all day, as high as 32,000, and 32,000 looked like 3200 on my other Nikons. The RAW images do come out with a more neutral profile than my D750 images, but I will edit them, anyway. Using this lens with adapted old manual focus lenses like my old Jupiter 8 Russian lens (M39 screw mount) is a blast. The Z6III is going to be a low light monster.

The lowlight is a beast on the Zf. They added some special sauce to this new camera. Its better in Low light than the Z6 cameras. I think its probably the best low light mirrorless Nikon out to date. those old lenses are a amazing on this.

hehe yah. I was unhappy. Jumped the gun on that one. Maybe because I wanted to see a Z6III first. But hey. We are only human after all. Bro what did you think of this Helios? Df and F3. yes . its that type of moment with this camera. It brings back those memories but adds allot of features of new gen Nikons. Honestly after buying this and also having the Z9 as my main powerhouse along with older Z6 cameras around. Buying a Z6III is worth revisiting again.

Good on the USB C charging option. I believe for the Z cameras, this first appeared with the Z5. I prefer you do this hands-on instead of the speculative rant you had on the Zf earlier. Cheers! 💯

That USB C feature is handy. Have a shoot with multiple locations, Bam Charge while driving. Amazing for long road trips too. Thanks bud. I love doing these fun reviews. I have several planned for the Zf and Z9 soon. Stay tuned :)

Thanks Dave. Yah the good think is I have allot of those batteries from Z6 and D800 cameras and they all work. I guess the size of the battery we can't expect that much. I think it also has to do with the Zf being such a power house.

What can help with your battery life is to set your camera on airplane mode if you are not using the Bluetooth or wifi.

The only reason I won't be buying this camera is the grip.. I shoot events and weddings and this camera is so easy to drop even with the stupid optional grip

I feel the same why for weddings. I don't think I will be taking this on major jobs anyway. I have the Z9 Z6 D5 for those. But what I will be doing with the Zf is personal projects. Video on the channel. Street and vacations. A and B roll video. and as far as paid gigs go, if I want to travel light and if I have a shoot where I dont want to get noticed. Strict permitted places where couples want pictures but want to look like tourists and also general bad areas where safety is a concert. This camera looks like an old film camera so it acts as a deterent
