The wish Gabriel made was Nathalie Sancoeur being healed from her terminal illness caused by the Peacock Miraculous when it was damaged and Emilie Agreste being taken with him to the afterlife at the cost of his own life with his death already imminent from the Cataclysm wound he received from Cat Noir in "Destruction".

They made a big deal about destroying and re creating but in practice Gabriel made a very basic wish that only changed 1 person.

@@liacheese5845I think they had no time to change the character designs because the woman sitting next to the pool had Emilie’s character design, they decided at the last minute not to bring her back, but since the part was already animated and ready to be premiered when they said they wanted to make that change, they just used Emilie’s character design and say it’s Amilie because it’s hard to tell the difference with them being identical twins.

Ladybug offered Gabriel a chance at redemption, but he refused, cause he knew he messed things up too much. Guy just accepted his fate and decided to at least bring back Nathalie, who warned him time and time again that he needed to stop and think about Adrien. He didn’t redeem himself, he just decided to correct at least one wrong to make it up to one person who’s life he messed up, Adrien. Nathalie will be a good mom to Adrien, heck, she already is.

Since you're not going to watch the whole season, I want to point out one thing that out of context isn't really visible. During this season, we learnt that Gabriel and his wife couldn't have children, so they searched for the Peacock miraculous to basically create one. They found it, but it was broken. I'm not sure if they were aware of the risks of wearing a broken miraculous or not, but Adrien's mum used it to "conceive" Adrien, but because the miraculous was broken, she eventually fell ill and then passed away (the same happened to Natalie, she used the broken one to help Gabriel). Peacock miraculous has the power to create a Sentimonster/Sentibeing - a sentient being that can be controlled by the one holding the source of their life (an object containing a feather, similar to Monarch's Akumas). In Adrien's case, the source was a ring his father was wearing, that's why he was always obedient and couldn't say no to his father. Gabriel left the ring for Ladybug to give it to Adrien. At the end of the episode, when Marinette puts the ring on his finger he says he "feels so free", and that's because at that moment he was given full control over himself. Also, Felix's mother was in a similar situation (not able to conceive), so Felix's father used the miraculous to create Felix. Of course, he got sick, and blamed Felix for it, calling him a monster. Felix was after the Peacock miraculous to make sure no one can just make him go poof, basically. He even betrayed Ladybug, when she confused him with Adrien (they switched places for a while in that episode) and then gave all of the other miraculous to Monarch in exchange of the Peacock one... Since the miraculous is fixed, he is the current holder of it. Kagami is apparently also a sentibeing, but I either missed it or idk. Oh, and lastly, Marinette knows Felix and Adrien are sentibeings, because Felix figured out she is Ladybug and gave her a... "theater show"(?) explaining the story of their mothers and how Felix and Adrien were born. No, she hasn't told Adrien, at least we're not aware of that. And that's probably all, lol, sorry for the long comment :D

Yup, Kagani is a senti too - her andAdrien were ‘made for each other’. As the peacock miraculous holder, Felix can sense Amok (though not sentibeings themselves, just the feather) and when he meets Kagami he realises her ring contains one. That’s why there’s the talk of her wearing it as a sign of independence, why her mum takes it back when she’s disobedient and why Felix anticipates this and makes sure she gets the real one back (her mum having taken a fake one).

@@Lexie955 no, some villains are just that, villains. they don’t need a ‘redemption arc’ to make their character whole. in fact, i think it takes away from gabriel’s character by portraying him as this “hero”, and is honestly just anti-climatic. i understand this is a kids show, but it seems to me they were bold enough to take a darker turn, and kids should be made wary that not everyone can be ‘redeemed’. the power of “love” does not prevail all, we see that when gabe becomes power hungry and loses sight of what he was fighting for. he had many opportunities to amend the damages of the peacock miraculous, and save his wife. but hey, give someone the world, and they then become greedy.

It's like they forgot they even wrote him like that in the first place. I agree that not all villains need some sort of redemption arc, but Gabriel's motives felt like they were going to set him up for it (feeling sympathetic because he just wants his wife back, going crazy loosing touch with his son for this motive), then turned the other way, (him having the opportunity to choose his wife but then choosing power instead), THEN going on like that never happened and choosing the sympathetic route again. I would've been fine with a redemption arc if they at least built it up and not went backwards yk?, especially since his motives were so sensitive and not 'just evil for no reason, villain muahaha.' His rebranding himself as a hero would've made sense to me if they just built it up but it just felt so forced and out of nowhere. Instead they made a character with horrible morals, who did one good thing in the end (sacrifice himself for Natalie), then got glory despite not having him acknowledge ANYTHING wrong he did! Like if they were going to go the glory/redemption route this was NOT the way.

@@caliewithonel great take! the best way to describe it was that the finale felt unrewarding. i would even argue that the season as a whole fell short, but i presume that’s not an unpopular opinion. as a long-time viewer, i don’t expect much of this show, but they truly did gabriel no justice. it seems to me they lost the plot somewhere between season 3-4, and in terms of what direction they wanted to take with his character. i’m the sort of person who loves a good villain. part of what makes them so great is that they stay true to that archetype throughout. now, that’s not to say i’m opposed to the idea of gabe being redeemed, but as you mentioned, it was very back and forth between choosing what he cherishes most vs. having the world at his feet.

Okay so there’s a lot of debate on whether that woman next to Natalie is Emile (Adrien’s mother) or Amile (Felix’s mother) I believe it is Emile as her color is pink (her suit is that same pink but the lighting often makes it look white) and in the garden where Adrien and Marinette we’re sitting used to be a statue of Emile, there’s no reason to take it out if she’s still dead. Also I know this show doesn’t have great writing but from a writing perspective if Emile is gone then the whole story was pointless, the only changes would be in adrien’s life and if that’s what they wanted from the original story then they would’ve written just that.

I think it's been a while since they kinda confirmed it's Amelie, not Emilie. Sure, probably it was supposed to be Emelie but they ended up changing. About the statue it's just a symbol that they've moved on. And actually the whole point of the show is about moving on, and accept the losses, if Emilie was alive the point wouldn't make sense.

Ok, as someone who was OBSESSED with this show at some point, I need to get this off my chest. Rant incoming 💀 *inhale* This finale was TERRIBLE! I am not even kidding when I say that this final episode literally killed any love I had for the show. I didn't have access to a good quality/full version of the episode when it first aired, but by the time I did, I didn't even feel like watching it properly anymore because it was just THAT BAD. Their WORST offense, in my opinion, is how they handled Adrien. HE'S LITERALLY THE SECOND MAIN CHARACTER! HIS DAD IS THE MAIN VILLAIN! And what do they do with him in the FINAL episode with the FINAL BATTLE?? THEY LITERALLY STICK HIM IN A SENSORY DEPRIVATION CHAMBER AND WE NEVER SEE HIM UNTIL THE VERY END! WHAT. THE. HECK. Adrien being treated like a side character has always been a thing in the show unfortunately, but this was a new low. HOW COULD YOU NOT HAVE HIM THERE FOR THE FINALE?? The excuse that Thomas Astruc had was "oh it's cause he would've literally destroyed the world, episodes like Chat Blanc prove it blah blah blah" and respectfully, that is a STUPID explanation 🙄 Episodes like Chat Blanc happened under specific circumstances, and to say that there is not a single possibility where Adrien DOESN'T get akumatized is actually....really disrespectful to his character????? Like it's saying that he has no control of himself and that he could never stand up to his ABUSIVE (yes, abusive) father. So he just needs to sit in some room and let perfect Marinette deal with it. ......What's that? She's also suffering from nightmares? PFFFFT who cares?? They're not enough to affect her! She can still take on Monarch by herself! In fact- let her wear BOTH of the most powerful miraculouses because that's how COOL and SPECIAL she is! Why did we even NEED Chat Noir?? It should have just been Marinette THIS WHOLE TIME! 🙄They did Chat Noir sooooo dirty and I hate that! He should have been there! And he DEFINITELY deserved to know the truth! The fact that there were SO MANY people anticipating the day that Adrien and Gabriel would find out each other's identities, how tragic that would be, how would they react, what would Adrien do? But NOPE, let's just take all that away and have Adrien never find out how much of a piece of trash his dad was :D OOOHHHH and don't even get me STARTED on G*BRIEL. Listen, I almost felt bad for him too, but that doesn't change the fact that he's one of the WORST people in this show. He was a terrible, abusive father to Adrien, not just mentally but also physically in some instances. He literally terrorized an entire city for MONTHS EVERY DAY, and as the episodes went on, he just grew more and more crazy. A horrible human being overall, and what does the show do? IT LETS HIM WIN! He gets what he wants in the end, and instead of getting any actual consequences for what he's done, he gets to die peacefully and leave Marinette to pick up the pieces. Marinette isn't much better here. Not only does she make the incredibly STUPID decision of not disarming Gabriel completely before trying to offer him a second chance, which leads to him tricking her and getting her miraculouses, but when he tells her to not tell Adrien the truth, SHE LISTENS TO HIM??? WTH??? YOU. OWE. THIS. MAN. NOTHINNNNNNNNG. Why would you keep the truth from Adrien?? I don't CARE if it would devastate him, HE DESERVES TO KNOW AND YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO KEEP THAT FROM HIM! But instead, you choose to LIE to him. I hope Adrien finds out the truth eventually and gets angry with her, because that would be a reasonable reaction, but knowing how little this show actually cares about him, I'm not counting on that. *exhales* ........This finale was the worst thing ever imo, and even though the movie wasn't oscar-worthy, I honestly like it better because at least the writers there seemed to respect Adrien's character more and had him actually be there for the final battle. Anyways, rant over. Sorry if it was intense, but just thinking about this finale sometimes makes me angry 💀

The writers wrote themselves into a corner when they decided that Plagg should be there (for the fusion, the wish, etc.) so there was no way that CN was going to be there. HOWEVER They should've at least put Adrian with the rest of the resistance. Surely the kid is a decent fighter, he could've been breaking alliance rings with the rest of them.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who feels this strongly about it. I’m trying to let it go, but this finale was abysmal. I’m tired of constantly being disappointed in this show and I have lost all the little faith I had left. Quite literally everyone and their mama was involved in the grand battle except Adrien. Even with the circumstances of Adrien getting akumatized in Chat Blanc and Ephemeral, there was a canonical change in his development. He grew up. Others have successfully resisted the akumatization, it would have been great to see him finally be able to do that. But okay, he’s not part of the final battle (even though he really should be, he’s an Agreste, it’s his arc too), everyone keeps lying to him and taking away his agency: Gabriel, Nathalie, Felix, Marinette. He has a right to know the truth about his father and the sentimonster thing and actually let him choose for himself. Then of course, there’s the situation with Chloe that I won’t bother unpacking here. And the plot line with Luka was so anticlimactic, he could’ve been another support system to Adrien on the same level Alya is for Marinette. This whole show is the epitome of wasted potential. Now I’m only watching people react or make video essays, but I can’t watch this anymore. Something about putting so much time, energy, and love into the show and being so thoroughly disappointed is just… I guess mourning that time I spent invested and the payoff was not worth it.

Its like they tried to the Todoroki arc from MHA basically the "side" character (even though its worst since Adrein is actual a mc established from the very beginning) have the main character esc backstoey with the daddy issues without being the main character. From what I know they had changed the writing at the very last minute. The early storyboards had shown that they intended to bring Emilie back. And the person sitting next to Natalie had been proven to be Emilie by their character designs, but they decided at the last minute that they were not going to bring Emilie back and to tell us that the blond woman we saw at the pool was Emilie’s twin sister while still using Emilie’s character designs because they had no time to change the designs after that decision was made.

This was the single most shocking season finale to anything I can ever remember watching, honestly. The fact that Gabriel ACTUALLY WON and destroyed the entire universe to create a new one in his image (so yes, your joke about everyone dying in the end is accurate) and Marinette covers it all up so that Adrien doesn't have to grapple with his dad being the literal WORST and also so she doesn't look like a failure is WILD. It took me literally a month and then some to recover. Oh, and to clear up some things about the "reboot:" I've actually never heard it referred to as a reboot before. All the promotional material that I've seen says season 6. The reason why people are referring to it as a fresh start is because a) we have a new main villain, b) they completely revamped their animation software and it's gonna have a new look with higher quality, and c) one of the biggest draws of this show so far has been fans waiting for Marinette and Adrien to get together, and now they are. So it's gonna have a completely new structure and appearance.
