Wouldn't taping flex pipe to the trunk line be better than zip ties?

That's how we used to do it, but it is quicker and still seals up just fine. We blower door test systems with zip ties and they pass the test.

I’m a new subscriber and a future barndominium builder / owner. So far have watched 3 of your videos, very enjoyable to watch. I have a few questions. Since you own your own HVAC business, would you mind sharing the cost of installing this commercial unit vs a residential unit, I may go this route as well. My other question, when installing the vents, is duct tape the norm for sealing the joints? In my trade, I always see that duct tape dry rots really bad, so I’m just curious of your thoughts.

I would image the price to install either system is going to be comparable. I use duct ties (large zip ties) for the ductwork. I use UL listed duct tape for small things like the bathroom vent and to tidy up loose insulation that is visible. UL listed tape holds up much better than old school cheap duct tape and is code here.
