Using the electric griddle as the plastic heater was a neat trick!, also the sizes of holders to reduce waste was nice.
@yru25012 ай бұрын
For the best FDM grids just use one of the infills and turn off bottom/top layers. Use modifiers if neceseray

Very cool! I wonder if you were to coat the entire casio watch in nail polish for a conformal coating if it would increase it's "waterproofness" or maybe a few coats of that clear rubberized flexcoat stuff...(well not the battery part of course)

Please pair a G5 macuum cleaner with it. If you don't make one, I'll be the one who has to fulfill this noble task.

the thing about the plastic being lighter after sanding, you could solve it without paint. You just need to blast it with a heat gun for short while at the temperature roughly below the temperature you set your 3D printer bed at
@Borgedesigns11 ай бұрын
Will have to give that a try next time. I even used a heat gun to dry if off here so could have saved me some time

I instinctively committed that tidbit about vacuum formers and bed size to memory. It's been a while since an idea in a video jumped out at me like that.

Great project. If you add some negative - Z offset to your printers build plate adhesion setting (e.g. -0.16mm or less) you should get better 1st layer finish, it will squish it to the surface slightly filling the small urface voids.
@autonoob11 ай бұрын
How about making an attachment that sits directly on the vacuum cleaner? That small version seems like it would fit perfectly.

super nice idea of plastic forming, the only downside of the watch design i see is the view angles of the display are a little low, maybe? but it looks kinda retro CRT like :D

Upvoted just for the puns alone, although the concept (especially different bed sizes) is interesting. Looks like you're just heating the plastic up in a frying pan - can you give any info on the process here?
@Borgedesigns11 ай бұрын
Its a "heated serving tray" which you can cook in. It was just what I could find (also in a bin) on the day. They dont really get hot enough, a portable electric hot plate is ideal. I didnt show it here but I had a few failed forms due to the plastic not being hot enough, so I had to use a heat gun which got it too hot and it blew out.
