italian here, i want to clarify 2 things: as far as pedestrian light and drivers light being both green at the same time, it's normal and usually if the crossing and the road are parallel to each other they will turn green and red at the same time. about yealding to pedestrians on crosswalks: It's mandatory to do so but most drivers display negligence and often arrogance when it comes to stopping for pedestrians. hope it was useful!
@DrivingSchoolTV27 күн бұрын

Can add to this, (italian too) was driving when there was a pedestrian crossing, a moped going double the speed limit almost rear ended me and insulted me because I was following the law lmfao. As an Italian KZbinr put it: “To drive in Italy you need a separate license”
@magaara831022 күн бұрын
@matteo_beccaro Wait, if the pedestrian light turns green at the same time as the car one does, but it's for cars that are turning into that road where the pedestrians are crossing, doesn't it mean that they're perpendicular to each other, instead of parallel? Or am I getting confused? I'm feeling kinda stupid right now, ngl 😅😂
@matteo_beccaro22 күн бұрын
@magaara8310 the idea behind the concept is that turning right is one of the options meaning that a car could go straight too. The cars turning right have to yeald to pedestrians. If the only option is to turn right the two lights will probably not turn green at the same time but that's not common
@E_Proxy12 күн бұрын
Pedestrians are mainly a-holes that often throw themselves on crosswalks without even looking because they think cars are some magical instruments automatically stopping or cross without waiting even if there are no cars after the one passing in that moment. I've always been a normal pedestrian and almost nobody driving a car bothered me. If you can wait 5 secs to cross , it is not a big deal
@zw2210Ай бұрын

From what I’ve heard Roma is worse than Milan for driving
@DrivingSchoolTVАй бұрын
🤣
@niki967627 күн бұрын
@@TheFootballbantsTVI'm italian and I can unfortunately confirm that Rome is worse. I own the driver license since 1 year and a half and I've never been stopped by police. I drove at least 3000km in Italy from North to South to give you an idea. Furthermore, I have heard a few times of acquaintances stopped by the police immediately after committing an infraction without being fined. The problem is clear: infractions are not fined. We need many more checkpoints. The mentality in Italy about fines is problematic: they are not seen as a direct consequence of personal actions rather they are considered as an exaggerated act of the officer who contests it. I give you two simple example: some week ago a man parked his moped on the sidewalk and local police were raising the fine. The owner of the moped said at the police officer that his infraction is not very serious and it's mean to fine him. The second example: when I was at school, less than 5 years ago, students were usual to smoke also considering it's forbidden. I've never seen a teacher raising up a fine. So I think the problem is the mentality of people: nobody wants to take it's own responsibility. I want to become a police officer in the future, this is the reason I take very seriously the respect of rules regard a common italian. Anyway I don't want to give you a terrible idea of Italy. As any country there are some unhealthy habits and behaviors. If you would like to visit Italy in the future, in particular for Rome I suggest you to use public transports but with a gem. There is a service called "Enjoy": it's a car sharing service and it's a very good alternative to the taxi (taxi is not cheap) considering that taxi is not available anytime. For this reason I suggest you to register before coming in Italy, also considering that foreign citizens has a different registration procedure. In conclusion: Italy has its pros and cons as every country. I think the pros are more than the cons😉.

In most countries except the UK and a few others, the standard way traffic lights work is pedestrians get green at the same time as traffic on the parallel road, and any turning traffic gives way. Watch any video of driving in cities in the US, all of mainland Europe, Japan, Australia etc. and you’ll see the rule in effect. It doesn’t apply at all traffic lights - sometimes crossings have their own phase like in the UK, but often they don’t. It was very weird the first time I went to Berlin and crossed on a green man, then a car came round the corner, gave way and then drove through the green man behind me. Turns out that’s the normal way lights work globally, the UK is a real outlier here.

At a crossroad, pedestrian crossing will be green when you're turning left or right. The pedestrian crossing that will be across the entire crossroad, running perpendicular to you as you leave the intersection, will be red. This is to ensure that incoming traffic is turning, so at a relative slow speed. Furthermore, pedestrians light becomes green as soon as yours does. This means that usually the first car encountering pedestrians wasn't even moving a few seconds ago, therefore it is moving at a slow speed. PLUS, at the opposite end of this event, pedestrian greenlight ends long before the greenlight for cars does, so pedestrians can't possibly block the traffic forever and when lanes are starting to be really clear there are no more pedestrians around.

It is an education driving in italy I've done and also cycling is . I drove to bormio the first time then cycled the stelvio . One of the best days ever and most rewarding. It did have few hiccups along the way. The garmin froze in the morning. The first 60 km all down hill I had my highest ever speed on the bike at 96kph then did the teglio climb and averaged 325watys for 20 minutes then went to descend and had a puncture then changed and puncture again so no tubes. Stopped at a garage to get spares. Then onto the mortirollo it still gives us nightmare. Had to push the bike ad thay steep. Then it was a race to make the time cut at bormio made it with 30 minutes filled the bottles more snacks in the pockets then slowly up the stelvio where the views where stunning. Got to the top on fumes and empty. Then come to descend and properly just tired end up crashing into a barrier . Then had to scrub my leg to avoid an infection unfortunately I did get an infection. Say that it was months of hard work and at the end it was like Holly f**k I've just did especially when I thought I wouldn't after the puncture. Them experiences teach you to keep going Next year I'm doing the dolomites and will be driving. The last couple of times ice just used public transport .

I heard southern Italy was somewhat more challenging than northern, although I have no personal experience. Someone mentioned Albania in the comments, yes, the driving is more difficult but there was less cars where I went (no big cities such as Tirana...). Regarding the green light, it's common to get a common green (no arrows, just green light) which means right turners have to yield to any pedestrians going parallel (as you had to) and left turners have to yield to pedestrians and opposite direction traffic. Only middle-size and bigger crossings get arrows. I think yielding to pedestrians on zebra crossings is mandatory but in Italy, mandatory things seem to be mostly optional.😂 Also at 9:10 nice double undertake by the scooter there.

4:04 the pedestrian lights are on green at the same time that the motor vehicles also have a green light, that doesn’t make any sense at all..

Its the same all over europe and the US if the light doesn’t have a green arrow. The UK is an outlier on this one

You have to give way to pedestrians when turning left or right at a junction. If youre going straight you dont have to giveway
