I feel so bad for the children!! Being and coming from an immigrant family myself I know that people just want a chance to work and make a better life for their families. However I do understand how illegal immigration can become a problem both financially and security. I know not everyone crossing is a decent person. El Salvador is doing a great job reducing the crime so people feel safe and not want to leave. Many countries of these illegal immigrants are from poor, corrupt, etc. I do really think if the countries weren't as bad and the U.S could fix their immigration, this will be all reduced majorly. It's a really hard topic to talk about since you want these immigrants to have better lives but you also don't want diseases or criminals coming into the U.S. Plus political sides make this much harder.

I have a Venezuelan friend that had to flee when he was just 14 years old to the us due to the country not even having food on supermarkets or even flour. He lived practically like a slave in the US, working 16 hours a day in a high risk job in a factory, he was able to leave at age 18 when he got the Dutch nationality due to her grandmother being Dutch and had enough saved to book a flight to the Netherlands and finally live a decent life. Edit: Since this got popular I'm gonna explain how this works, they usually pay mafias with whatever they have left in their countries and in exchange the mafias give them fake ids, with a fake name and a fake date of birth, mafias usually have contracts with US factories that allow these immigrants to work in exchange for very under the legal limit wages, so the US company gets basically slaves and the mafias a ton of money from the extra profits these companies make, immigrants often are also brainwashed with the promise of once they serve enough time they'll be able to become us citizens or move to other western countries (Usually Spain, Germany or the UK) Saddest part is that in countries like Venezuela leaving usually means not going back ever, because the moment you set foot back there they aren't gonna let you leave.

A lot of news in the US tries to disassociate what's really going on good or bad and gives random bullet points of information that don't paint the entire picture, it only sparks debate between people who are uninformed.

I am always telling people, it's mainly central and south American's crossing the boarder to the USA. You don't see a lot of Mexicans, yet the news and politics say it's the Mexicans coming through. Mexico is also having a hard time with boarder control on their end. Many of these people will say they are Mexican's when they're not. A lot of the "Mexican" restaurants that you see are not real Mexicans. It's upsetting because the Mexican's are always being attacked in the media and people are racist toward Mexicans because of their ill understanding. This random interview/journalism showed that most people he interviews, were mainly central and south Americans.

I agree with you! My best friend's parents became a citizen LEGALLY but it took 8/9 years and was a very challenging process. That's not okay and it's a huge reason why so many don't try coming the legal way. YES one has to be diligent & maintain paperwork, Yes one has to obey laws, one has to have shots and health checks, have a j-o-b know the USA laws & rules. No different than if I choose to live in another's country (which I have) The USA began just over 200 yrs ago by foreigners who "get in line" and obey the laws of the land.

Many other variables exist, but my best friend's parents were on it and did everything they could as efficiently as possible. Meanwhile, just to work while not being a citizen is a HUGE hardship and so while it may sound like, "only 2 yeard," to you, please know for most, this becomes so much harder just to provide. I beg you to reconsider these things and have more empathy while researching more. It's a truly heartbreaking human rights issue. 💔

I don’t think people in the US understand how serious this migration issue is. I’m a first generation Mexican American and I’ve met many of these people that are coming to the US illegally. Yes some of them are coming in search for opportunities. But the sad truth is that many of them come with a poor mentality looking for handouts. Many of these women come pregnant and we as tax payers will have to pay for their prenatal care and birth expenses. The culture in their countries is very different and they’re bringing their culture here. Like we’re seeing in places like New York for example, the crime rate has gone up immensely. They’re leaving behind trash and destruction. They’re here waiting for the government to assist them with housing, food, medical care, etc. as tax payers we can’t allow people to be coming like this in these insane amount of numbers. Something has to be done to stop them from crossing. It’s just getting out of hand. I feel sorry for the good ones but they need to start demanding better for their government in their OWN countries instead of coming and demanding help from the US.
