You are both more than welcome to come across to Southport, England’s Golf Coast. I’m a member at Southport Old Links and this club always gets overlooked by the likes of Royal Birkdale & Hillside. There are 6 courses in Southport and the Old Links is a great challenge and will give the other more well known courses a run for their money.

If your ever up the real North, head up to Matfen Hall Golf & Spa - under new management and at lot of money spent (on the right things) on the whole place, from the beautiful hotel to all 3 loops of 9. You'll need to be able to hit it straight, if not bring plenty of balls... Original 18 is a gem to play, great sights of proper lush Northumbrian Country Side. Keep up the great fun content guys.

Come and play at Malton and Norton GC. Peter Alliss described the course as ‘Yorkshire’s Hidden Gem’. It’s a good honest test of golf. We just hosted the English Girls Open Championships so course is in great nick 👌🏼. Superb value and a super friendly club. Ganton is also just up the road if you wanted to make a trip of it.

I think you need to play a challenging golf course and so you should play at my club, Stand Golf Club in Whitefield, its a lot more physical (very hilly)than the flat courses you play in Yorkshire. I wouls say scratch handicap for you James.

Come and play Oakdale in Harrogate, a Dr Alister MacKenzie designed course one of the best courses in Yorkshire, that also have two low handicappers that are related to Samuel Ryder founder of the greatest team event in golf.

As the member of our nomadic fourball who is regularly tasked with sorting a tee-time out I'd like your opinion on your new home course. We've recently enjoyed visits to Tankersley Park, Waterton Park and Howley Hall, all with £30 green fees. I feel it's easier to have a better handicap now. It's pretty much your best 8 rounds out of 20. I think you will be surprised when you get your handicap. My guess is scratch to +1.

Not sure what the slope of your course is, but that plays a factor as well. I imagine your course is 130 or more on slope.

If I had to guess I'd say your handicap would be somewhere between 2 and 4. Completely unrelated golf nerd question. If a player makes a hole in one on a par 4 in stableford, do you score it as an ace or as an albatross?
