I got mine for £1750, then got £700 back when I found the hybrid was duff :) Had MOT and fully driveable. Also 07 model, with all the add-ons. So nice having the cooled seats in summer!

@StevenLockey2 жыл бұрын
@@duancj6738 it's possible but you can get a 3rd party replacement battery or get the battery refurbished but it's not exactly cheap. Shocks also have a habit of going cos it's a heavy car but tbh at that milage stuff is going to risk breaking in any car.

Lexus LS is a different league of the car, altogether :). My younger brother drives LS460 - an excellent car, absolutely amazing. Out of curiosity, what sort of MPG are you getting out of your LS600h?

Good choice. personally i'd spend another £1.5k getting the hybrid battery reconditioned (worth the cost) and another couple hundred for a full service and TPMS fix you'll have a great car at the end of it for under £4k. Lots of great info on Lexus owners club uk site.
@adamscarstories3 жыл бұрын
1) Thank you Liam for suggestion - what you've described is perhaps a good idea, but I've another car which is my daily runner and few other projects going on at the same time, so I'll see what long term plans will be with my Gs. 2) I've been reading (only) Lexus owners club for a very long time now, but I must admit - it happens to be that I haven't participated in any discussion yet :). 3) I assume considering the age and mileage of the car, that the battery will not be in its prime condition, but is there any reason to perform reconditioning even if there are no faults within the system? Perhaps MPG will improve? I've some receipts that came with the car - some of the broken cells were replaced few years ago. 4) TPMS is extremely annoying and I am preparing myself mentally to get it fixed at some point ;) - at the moment friend of mine is doing a bit of work on the GS and I hope it should be partially ready within next few days - whenever this take place - I will record video and post it on YT ;).

@@adamscarstories 1> Can get a recondition done for £700ish, or a full brand new battery for £2200. Go to this guy www.hybridbatterysolutions.co.uk/ Hes awesome! Got my replacement battery from him. 2> We don't bite! Honest! ;) 3> Nope, car will start bitching if it detects any cells playing up. I'd not do it till the car starts complaining. Some batteries last 200k+ miles. 4> Fortunately cheap to fix!

I have been for years getting BMWs used because I like the design and feeling like im in a nice quiet car. Lately I can no longer afford a big sudden bill so am seriously thinking of a used Lexus next time. I feel less would suddenly go wrong and expensively.

Maybe Mercedes-Benz W211 is better
@adamscarstories3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dragos, I'm not entirely sure about that, but I'll give you my two cents. When I was 18 years old I've been driving W211 for nearly 3 months on and off (4/5 times a week), I'll try to sum it up in a few short points: 1) Comfortable, well built car. Despite it was only 'Elegance' version - I really enjoyed driving it. 2) I've driven it when the car was approximately 3 years old - I had not paid for fuel or any associated expenses related to maintenance, so my opinion is purely based on 'driving' bit of the 'experience' ;). 3) 5g tronic gearbox (I believe this is the exact name and hope I'm not mistaken, because it was definitely 5-speed gearbox) - as far as I remember it was really smooth and comfortable, but by today's standards - slow in comparison to DTC (likes of DSG or S-tronic). By the way, W212's 7g tronic is a bit better, but still fairly slow in comparison to dual-clutch transmissions or if we're comparing Apples with Apples (let's look at auto gearboxes with traditional torque converter then) - even Mercedes's 9g tronic or BMW's ZF's 8-speed. 4) Few questions come to my mind when we're looking at older cars that we need to PAY FOR OURSELVES, FIX THEM AND DRIVE THEM: a) will it be expensive? b) is it reliable / will it be reliable after repair is done? c) how much time will I be spending trying to organise repairs logistically (identify what's really wrong with the car, order parts and fix issues whether these are performed by ourselves or someone does the work for us)? The reason I've written that last point is that I personally believe that Lexus / Toyota products, despite having some issues (like everything in the world to be frank, there are no perfect cars) - they are very forgiving and reliable, especially if we compare them with competition. This may not be the most important factor for some people, but it is really important from my perspective. My younger brother, who now has Lexus LS460 - used to drive BMW 7-series (E38) and despite E38 being a fantastic, iconic car - there were problems with it all the time. For me personally, when the car is breaking all the time - even if it was the best car in the world in all other aspects - I wouldn't be happy with it, because the whole joy would be taken away by constant headache associated with its issues - bear in mind I am referring here to 'typical', usable, daily / semi-daily driving car - I understand that for hobbists / enthusiasts there are sometimes different criterias (I'm one of them by the way). So to 'sum it up' - is MB W211 better? I don't know, it depends perhaps on our expectations. Some people prefer apple juice, other would rather drink orange juice. Is one better than the other? No, they're just different. If you have W211 or if you're thinking about getting W211 or GS - whatever you decide based on YOUR expectations and YOUR perception - I hope you'll be happy, bro. The most important thing is that YOU NEED TO LIKE YOUR CAR - and everybody else can f*** o**, I mean - go away of course ;). Take care!

@@adamscarstories It would be very difficult to say because most of the time it is the customers fault for not taking care of the car. But from my experience JLR cars have the most problems because of faulty design and engineering.
