Hi Matt, what are you doing here?
@GuitarCinemaOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Matt can I request you do a video on the MK4 GS? I've recently got a '13 GS250 F-Sport and it's the greatest car I've ever driven. Also in 2021 Auto Express actually surveyed the MK4 GS as the No.1 used car to own in the UK for owner satisfaction. Not my words Matt... the words of Auto. Express. Magazine.

I have owned my 06 Lexus GS for 12 years now. Incredible car. Reliability and smoothness unequaled. Did replace the outdated radio with a new touch screen unit that fits and looks good. I recently drove a brand new Lexus for a few days. I honestly didn't mind getting my '06 back. My wife and i took a 7500 mile trip in the car over a 48 day period. Comfortable, smooth, reliable and 31 mpg n the highway at high speeds. As with any vehicle maintenance is paramount.... An item that most people overlook on this engine is the PCV valve. Inexpensive and very easy DIY replacement on this vehicle. OEM always...

Which touchscreen brand/unit did you go with? Considering updating mine as well. Also an 06 GS300 I've had for 13 years. Great car.
@curtgomes7 ай бұрын
@@George-ur8ow Sorry for the delay as I was traveling. Radio shop owner told me that the brand he had the most luck with is: Phoenix Radio. It has performed very well for over one year now. Downside: There is virtually no user manual or installation instructions. Like all these radio replacements it operates from your phone. If you're in an area with poor reception some features can be problematic. Having said that, this is a HUGE improvement! Mine is a 12.5" screen replacement for the entire OEM radio, including the DVD and cassette... which I do not miss.... Navigation is excellent. Has Apple Car Play and Android radio. Get the best model you can afford and have access to a professional radio installer if you're not familiar...

I just bought my 2006 gs 300 with 150k miles for 4500$ and it’s in perfect condition
@davidmwood5602 жыл бұрын
I've got a 2006 GS300. Excellent car in every way. I don't know what you regard as good fuel consumption, but I'm getting 32mpg around town and between 40 and 42mpg on the open road. I think that's pretty good for a naturally aspirated 3litre V6 hauling close to 2 tonnes of car. Like you, my only grouch is the wheels....definitely in for a refurb. Might even go black gloss. The car stands up well for itself without any mods; but if I really wanted to go custom, I'd have the top half painted in metalflake black over the stock silver. I guess a pair of cherry bomb tailpipes would zazz up the sound nicely, but I kind of like the silence. I look forward to finding your full review. Even if it's just to see how a youngster like yourself judges a car. As someone who's been immersed in cars for 70 years; gthe comparison should be interesting

Thanks David, the full review is available on my channel! I just bought a 2006 Volvo S60 T5 which makes for interesting comparison
@davidmwood5602 жыл бұрын
Dan, you cannot possibly compare any Volvo with a Lexus. (With the possible exception of an early is200) They're not in the same league! I'd forgotten at the time, but I read your full review a while ago. You clearly like your cars, but I guess we'll never agree upon many aspects of what makes a car excellent.
@ItsDanLatham2 жыл бұрын
@@davidmwood560 well the S60 was a competitor at the time so it makes sense from a journalistic standpoint to compare the two regardless of the winner!

@@ItsDanLatham : from a purely journalistic point of view, it makes good sense to review the widest possible range of vehicles of course. However, as a now thoroughly dedicated Lexus owner, I'm naturally going to be biased. Next on my agenda is going to be another, older GS300 to do a custom job on. Followed by an LS400 for a full custom refit, with a massive bhp improvement to the engine. I'm looking for around 500+bhp! One of the

Love the sound quality of the Mark Levinson sound system
@ItsDanLatham3 жыл бұрын
I’ve not been too impressed with FM performance but it comes alive with CD. The 7.1 surround effect does enhance the experience from the drivers seat and the built in sub makes the range a lot better. I think I’d have to do some EQ tweaking to get it exactly how I like it, but its certainly a huge step up from most standard car sound systems!

That's shockingly cheap for what it is. My brother is on his second gs450h it's the only one I would buy near 30mpg around town and 340bhp combined. His had a mk2 gs300 in the past but it's the ls400 that made me love the Lexus brand
@ItsDanLatham3 жыл бұрын
I’ve always fancied an LS400! As for the hybrids I certainly see the merit of more power/economy but I’m really not a fan of CVT cars and I’d worry about having a 15 year old mild hybrid system maintenance wise. That being said I can imagine they’re much better performers. I definitely got a good deal here.
@Birmingham_racing3 жыл бұрын
@@ItsDanLatham yeah I do hate the cvt nobody likes them I don't understand why Lexus still use them. Batteries need reconditioning only couple of hundred quid. As for better performance I've been in a 2018 Audi s4 that's only another 15bhp over the old gs450h lol

Great video and car. I always loved the S190 but I have heard that the GS300 is probably the worst engine on this model, due to oil consumption and carbon build up.

Absolute bargain! I actually really fancy an IS250. Does this have the weird foot-operated handbrake? Possibly the only thing that puts me off the IS. That and maybe the image but that doesn’t overly bother me tbh.

It does! I completely forgot to mention it in the video but will take note for the review. I thought I’d hate it (always put me off older mercs) but actually its really easy to get used to. It doesn’t hold very well in this so I think the brakes need work 😂
