Panel bond adhesive or another alternative is windscreen adhesive just a whole lot of it, then use a sound insulation that is foil backed to prevent panel vibration between the supports and to insulate the van.

As a body tech, what you need is 3M 04274 Duramix NVH Dampening Material. It’s specifically designed to go in between door/roof skins and crash bars. Regular 08115 panel bond isn’t a good choice because it doesn’t build up and it’s too hard with no flex. This stuff has some elasticity to it so it doesn’t warp the panel they are attaching it to causing it “tin can”.

Epoxy panel adhesive. The type used in body shops. Place some shims under skin on the braces, squirt it in all the gaps and pull the shims. Let it dry, your done.

for the roof skin you can use something the space it for a moment than use that foam in a can it will fill the void then remove what ever you used to space it out or leave it
@roberta49894 сағат бұрын
Butyl rubber, like used in wind shields. Comes in a tube like caulk. It can take the heat from the roof panel, doesn't expand or shrink much. Not expensive. There you go, something for free...some advice!

use some sand paper to prep the roof rails and roof then use 3m panel bond. you can also add some sound deadner like dynomat or w/e alternitive so it dosnt sound like a tin can going down the road
@brandonhackley70679 сағат бұрын
I would use a construction hesis on the roof brackets. If it's still too noisy add some sound deadening to the rest of it

Closed cell spray foam on the roof. That roof is going to get blistering hot during the summer.
@franklananna96847 сағат бұрын
Maybe heat shield peal and stick would stop the rattling and also insulate the roof a black van with no insulation would be very hot in the summer months

In my previous experiences, if the first part of a project has set back after set back, look out for more and more unfortunately... Definitely need to use panel bond for that roof problem. Sounds like the factory forgot to do it...

First, why is the roof skin not attached to the structure? Is there a reason for this? If the panel is bonded, will any problems follow? So, sound-dampening material is a must, and foam tape is a good choice.

Don’t do any sealing on the roof until you run all your wiring for lights, auxiliary stuff, chargers, pumps, water lines, solar panel lines etc. Deal with the roof WAAAAY later in the build. Trust me you’ll regret it if you do it now and have to deal with running wire later.
