The reason why this mashup works so well is that the battle music for all Pokémon games follow a very similar structure for the central sections, that is a constant note with some variation near the end of the each bar. And that's definitely not a bad thing, it actually gives the soundtracks an identity which helps it distinguish it from the rest. That's what I like about the style of Pokémon battle music.

Woah, wait, we know Kukui went to Kanto at some point, and despite not a single Golden Trophy in his room it's never stated how Guzma(Or Ilima) earned them. We also know this plays for Red and Lance, which would imply it is something close to Indigo League's *new* Champion Theme(It can be argued the theme that plays for Blue is either specific to him, like Iris & Alder having their own versions, especially given its usage at the PWT and how Steven & Wallace share the same Champion Theme, or the Indigo League's Old Champion theme before Johto was added to the Gym Challenge). So this begs the question: if this was intentional, *is GUZMA a former Indigo Champion?*
