I knocked on my Neighbors Door and Transformed their Yard for $0.00

Right everyone, I am back at it with another overgrown yard disaster transformation video. This one is my next door neighbour's yard, and I was actually a bit tired of looking at all the mess and have been thinking about doing a cleanup here for a while - so I knocked on their door and offered to do a makeover. A young family lives here, and they sort of keep it under control when it gets too long, but once again they could do with some help. Before any of you jump to conclusions, the inside of the house, from what I have seen, is well-kept, clean and there is washing on the line every day!
All up, I spent about 6 hours cleaning this property up and went to the landfill twice.

Q: Where are you located?
A: We are from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘🦘🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 4 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: We use mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs!
Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin!
Q: What happened to Brent?
A: Brent quit at the start of August 2022.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I'm not really sure to be honest, maybe something to do with space & maintenance, but either way, it really is poor heat efficiency!
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee!
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well, to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. Currently, I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k on a good ride on mower.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on in there.
4. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering we always take the green waste away.
5. I will get one as soon as all of the above are solved.
Q: What happened to your workers?
A: Becuase the work is so hard and I expect high standards, most have quit over time. The only exception so far is Nick!

Today you were my inspiration to start at the front of the house and work my way around removing anything that my eyes decided it didn't belong or was out of place. at 79 it is a chore and I take breaks but I got the job done--keeping it up on a weekly basis is doable (my therapy) not easy but doable.. Enjoying my flowers and plants is my reward.

That was no small job, George! I think most of the people she hired just mowed the grass. But you trimmed the trees, moved furniture for a nicer outdoor space, made the yard a safe place for the children. You went above and beyond and that’s why I enjoy your channel. I think a lot of renters simply don't have a lot of lawn care equipment, or experience taking care of a yard (thinking about what you said about the interior being clean, etc.). I have no doubt your efforts were greatly appreciated. Great job.

We had a neighbor move and the yard was in a state of needing some TLC. Not just the mow and walk away. My lawn huy was exhausted but we handled 3 lawns that day with a lawn mower and edger. The company who is handling the empty house has been on point to keep it lookin presentable. Thr neighborhood was shocked and like wow. Next weekend many lawnmowers were heard 😂

That was so nice of you to do that for your neighbour. Wow, what an incredible difference it makes! I do things like that at my neighbour's place too. I get sick of looking at all the weeds in the big garden bed between us so I end up weeding it and it takes days! But it's a win-win really: they appreciate it and I don't cringe every time I look at it, hahahaha. I gave them some of the old-fashioned alstromerias too, the ones with a dusky pink flower, quite nice, and they are spreading like crazy and filling in all the bare spots, lol. You know what they say - Nature loves a vacuum, so I'd rather see alstromerias than weeds! I hope you are getting lots of business, George, and that things are going well. Thanks for helping this lady and her kids - I'm sure they're stoked!

Awesome job George, alot of hard detailed work for one person! You don't just do the lawn but actually trim up trees and shrubbery. The best episode was the one where you found you'd been standing on a poor dead kangaroo! I put a fake edge around my flower bed, just dug it in deep with my weed eater so the grass will stand up above it lol. Nice one, George; you're very methodical and practical in your work, and it shows. Neat clean job. It was only around the 25 minute mark when I was able to get the geographical bearings, when I saw your house beyond the neighbor's fence. I saw too your driveway shrubs (at the front of your house?), and was again admiring how well maintained they are; that's been a dedicated pursuit to keep them so gorgeous looking. Know too well about out of control neighbours yards. Our next door neighbour rents (only house in our street), his front yard is hit and miss but back yard is a jungle. There are vermin in the tall grass (he kept rats to feed his snakes) and thanks to our cat George, they don’t last long. We are in our 70s, our health isn’t too good but my hubby does all our gardening. I say thank you for caring enough to help this family also giving you peace of mind, a job well done.
