Any of your already posted backing tracks would be really helpful. That would help give some road maps to try out while improvising along . For me anyway that would a huge help. I’m bad getting stuck in a rut of chord tone chasing instead of thinking out of the box. I liked in your lick video of where Jerry bends to the B for the upcoming G chord. Left alone to my own devices I normally wouldn’t think of that. I really do appreciate the effort you put into these lessons. Thank you.

@@trampasnewberry2626 Cool, I'll probably do a bunch of the old ones like Althea and Morning Dew. I feel like showing licks has been the missing piece. I've really avoided it because there's definitely a type of player who only learns licks and I didn't want to feed the addiction! ha. But I personally think it's best to have a balanced approach, learn songs, scales, chord tones, licks, and exact solo or 2, etc...Not to mention other elements of music like rhythm and dynamics. That's another series for another day!

Great lesson, the lights went on for me BECAUSE you explained the underlying structure: that lick one is major pentatonic . Giving Notes (like so many others) is one thing but so much better to see the form behind it! Teaching us to fish! Thanks

69-74 is exactly my favorite time period too! Although, I've been getting into some stuff from 78 more. My favorite bassist that I play with is always saying I gotta check some shows from early 80's and that there's some gems there. Big Boss Man, for sure!

The second lick makes me wonder if Jerry maybe fingerpicked it, he could switch from flatpick to fingers and back in a instant. To me it seems easier to fingerpick (although I am mainly a flatpicker)
