As they are the opponents to legalised cannabis as they stand to lose BILLIONS every year due to people not buying BS medications with a tonne of side effects, just to solve things like nausea, headaches, sleeplessness, loss of appetite.... just to name a few things weed could replace "conventional" methods of curing... The thing with any substance, is USE DON'T ABUSE.. but if you abuse cannabis you have a nap and wake up hungrier than ever... try that with any pharmaceutical.... it will likely be your last nap... but ssshhhh, we can't highlight how dangerous big pharma drugs are. . Great report TMAC. Some years ago I found a bag/folder left inadvertently in the back of my ambulance by a patient we took to hospital. When I walked the bag into the ED to give back to the patient staff suggested I open it to check its contents as the patient had moved on to an other ward. I had no idea what those smelly green lumps inside a plastic bag within the folder were, until the staff all chimed in with: "Party time!" The patient's boyfriend was a drug squad copper !! I then handed the bag in at the local police station as "LOST PROPERTY" and the bag minus its contents was given back to me three months later, as is the norm with all unclaimed property handed in.

Fellow Thai here! Great research on this and I knew you would’ve had to mention the plant. Not only where they planted at the circuit but In last years race if you looked around at the food stalls there were stalls that offered THC additives into their food, I still have a picture of it in my camera roll. And yes the tourism sector in Thailand is trying to promote marijuana but in certain cities… there is just an over saturation of the shops being opened. I really do want the sport to continue in the country but this can go into dangerous territory with the contrasting politics 😬

I was shocked when I visited Chiang Mai and saw cannabis stores every five feet. I believe there was genuinely a block that was all selling the same product. My girlfriend and I were trying to figure out how these businesses stay competitive when there's no real variation from shop to shop and you can just walk 10 feet to get the same stuff.

Thanks for sharing! As a US Navy veteran who's participated in drug patrols, I have a few thoughts about this. My main point is that drugs of all kinds should be legalized. Alcohol is a legal drug. Why is it different from pot, heroin, coke, etc.? Why should these substances be legal? One, you're not going to stop the stuff from coming in! There's simply too much demand for it. Two, illegal drugs breed a lot of crime, such as the Mexican cartels. Three, in the US anyway, the drug war is Unconstitutional; our Federal gov't isn't allowed to prohibit or control drugs in any way. Four, because of gov't efforts to fight drugs, our rights have been trampled upon; things like no-knock warrants, excessive force, and so on all started because of drugs. Five, they corrupt gov't and law enforcement. Finally, drug use is a spiritual issue, not a legal or law enforcement issue. I'd like to expand on some of these points. As I stated above, there's a ton of demand for drugs. When our ship did a drug patrol back in the 1980s, we made news in our city, as we'd made a 12.5 ton bust for pot. Weeks later, another ship, the Elrod, made a 100 ton bust; that was like 8 TIMES what we did! We were quickly forgotten about. When you consider that only 5% to 10% of loads are caught, one must ask the question: how much are we not catching? How much is really coming in? There's a huge demand for drugs, so someone will supply them in an effort to meet the demand. Based on my experience of participating in drug patrols, you'll never stop the influx of illegal drugs. Drugs corrupt governments, the military, and law enforcement. Though I can't prove it, I have circumstantial evidence that the US Government is on the take; i.e. high level US officials are being bribed. Why do I say that? One, the altitude and speed parameters we'd use for flagging suspicious aircraft were low. Two, the way we conducted drug operations off the coast of South America was all wrong. I'll discuss these points in detail. As I said, the altitude and speed parameters were low. I don't know if I can divulge them now, even though it's almost 40 years later; what I can say is that they'd only catch the small time operators, while giving a pass to the larger operators. What I can say is that the speed and altitude parameters would only flag a small time smuggler using a small, twin engine aircraft like a Piper Aztec; larger, big time operators flying Douglas DC-7s or Mitsubishi MU-2s would be given a pass, i.e. we wouldn't call them in. Why only go after the small timers, while allowing the big timers a pass? To ask the question is to answer it. Also, the way we did drug patrols off South America was all wrong; we were stupid in how we deployed our ships. We patrolled just a few miles off the coast of Colombia, which was the main exporter of pot back in the 1980s. When a US Navy or US Coast Guard ship shows up off the coast, the smugglers all run and hide; they all crawl under rocks like a bunch of cockroaches. If you're really trying to catch the smugglers, why do you want them to hide? Don't you want them out in the open, plying their trade, so you can catch them in the act? Again, to ask the question is to answer it. What we should have been doing is plugging strategic gaps in the routes between Colombia and the southern US. We could have deployed a destroyer or two between western Cuba and the Yucatan Peninsula; we could have deployed another ship or two between eastern Cuba and western Hispanola, or Haiti; we could've put another ship or two between eastern Hispanola, or the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico; finally, back then, we had patrol missile hydrofoils, or PHMs, in operation, that could've covered any traffic coming around eastern Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. Pot's a bulk cargo, so it has to be transported by sea. to put it another way, any seaborne vessel coming up from Colombia would have to pass through one of these choke points. While I can't divulge the exact ranges of US Navy air search radars (they've no doubt improved in the 40 years since I did drug patrols in the Caribbean), I can say this: the air search radars would've been sufficient from ships patrolling the aforementioned choke points. Just to be sure all suspicious air traffic coming from South America was detected, then another ship patrolling the gap between Jamaica and the Yucatan Peninsula would fill it. As the old punch line goes, I told you all that to tell you this: if I, a radar operator, could figure this out, then why couldn't the Admirals in the Pentagon not figure this out? After all, they've attended the US Naval War College, which means that they've studied strategy and tactics; they've been equipped with the knowledge to figure out these things. The fact that our naval assets were deployed in a far less than optimal manner tells me one thing: that high level officials in the US Government, both civilian and military, were on the take; they were corrupted by the drug money. I can come to no other conclusion. While I could say so much more, I'm going to end this here. In conclusion, drugs should be legalized. One, they cannot be stopped. Two, illegal drugs breed crime, such as the Mexican cartels. Three, here in the US, the Federal Government has no Constitutional authorization to conduct the drug war. Four, our rights have been trampled in an effort to fight drugs. Five, illegal drugs corrupt gov't and law enforcement. Finally, drug use is a spiritual issue; it cannot be solved via law enforcement.

You have come to the correct conclusion...The reason your were never briefed on the matter is because the drug trade is CIA territory and would therefore be above your pay grade as they say. Illegal drugs undoubtably corrupt governments and law enforcement, but to believe that they weren't corrupt to begin with would be quite naive. However, you recognize this fact when mentioning that the "Federal Government has no Constitutional authorization to conduct the drug war" and the adage laws for thee but not for me would certainly apply to this situation. Also, If drugs were legalized then there wouldn't be nearly as high of a profit margin simply because the highly addictive nature of drugs. Not to mention, the support of modern pharmakeia further drives up drug dependance to unprecedented levels. A drug users dependance is what drives up the demand at the expense of said user and governments financially take advantage of this addiction through the utilization of drug cartels overlooked by the CIA which allows for complete and utter control of a supposed unregulated drug market. This in turn yeilds a significantly higher profit margin than if the drugs were made legal and supports your reasoning as to why Law enforcement wont ever solve the drug issue, because that was never it's intended purpose...it was simply set up to help control the flow of drugs. As with all addictions, the drug issue is yet another spiritual issue plaguing humanity in our modern day, but often with more detrimental consequences. The only way I can see the drug addiction issue being solved is by ending user consumption which should then eradicate the demand. However, this is easier said than done when one considers the active opposition from governments who are essentially running the drug trade and facilitating the vast dependance of all kinds of drugs in our current society.

However, it wasn't so bad that our rights and liberties were affected like they are now. Thanks to the drug war, our Constitution has been run through the shredder! Thanks to the Drug War, LE is more like a paramilitary organization; they look, act, and dress like military units now. Speaking of CIA involvement, are you familiar with Gary Webb and his story? Mr. Webb was the reporter in San Jose, CA who broke this story back in the 1980s. The CIA and the Mockingbird Press (in honor of the CIA's Operation Mockingbird, where they control the media) went after him with full force to discredit him and his story. He was later found dead-under SUSPICIOUS circumstances, I might add! If you're not familiar with Gary Webb's story, you should study it. It's thought provoking and sad...

Ironically, the real terrorist have always been on home soil but the people can never figure this out no matter how many false flag operations occur because they are too distracted fighting one another over trivial things like race, religion, and politics. All means of dividing and conquering the populace and this continues to prove to be quite an effective strategy spanning all of history up until our present day...
