I'm telling you, you sound EXACTLY like Donnie, although you're not as fluent.

He seriously does. The Donnie Yen inspiration for his accent is obvious.

Do I? Haha, I can’t really tell

I guess I copy his cadence? I’m not really sure, but of course I listen to him speak it the most

As a Hong Kong Cantonese native, I gotta say your Cantonese is very impressive!!

I'm on a similar boat. I'm also Vietnamese (family entirely Vietnamese), and currently learning Cantonese by myself. I love the language a lot because as a Viet kieu, not only is it fun to say and easy to pick up but it also helps me improve my own Viet; both vocab and pronunciation. And then being able to understand HK movies (without much reliance on English subs) like Ip Man, A Better Tomorrow, and Stephen Chow movies also feels great!

Nice! Yeah if you speak Vietnamese, Cantonese isn't really that hard

@@TheWillTran Yeah, and my parents are always excited to learn the similarities of Viet and Canto from me 😁

Canto is a really cool sounding language imo, def start learning it! Especially if you have a family member who fluently speaks I haven't seen the original Condor Hero, but if it's got Canto, I'll check it out

Ayeee thank you! Glad my canto isn’t absolutely terrible haha

I don't speak Cantonese (only basic phrases), but it sounds like you have Donnie Yen's exact cadence. How did you learn Cantonese? In-person classes, language learning app?

I don't really have any formal education for Canto. I just watched movies, learned lines that I liked, and swapped out words from lines that I learned. My girlfriend helped me improve my accent though. Talking with native speakers is a must, so they can tell you what you're saying wrong.
