For 2 weeks in my gap year, I attended the incredible ILA Language School and lived with a French host family in Montpellier for an immersive intensive language course! Despite a meaningless A* in GCSE French and a great streak on Duolingo, HA I can't speak French to save my life. I learnt almost as much in 2 weeks in France than I did in years of lessons haha! I can't recommend it enough. I had the best time 🌟 enjoy x
BIG thank you to ILA Language School in Montpellier for gifting me the lessons! www.ila-france.com I was on the 'standard' course, lived with a host family (half-board, which was about €220 a week with meals included!) and I genuinely had the best time, especially towards the end once I'd settled! I wish I could have stayed longer :( merci beaucoup à mes incroyables amis aussi - vous me manquez! ❤️ x

Envy won't do you any good. Instead of being jealous maybe try to convert that negative energy into work/helping others? Especially that no one leads a perfect live without problems. (And Jade may feel bad about being privileged or sth along these lines - which is stupid! She's happy and so we should be. No matter of conditions. That's not an excuse) #preaching_mode :D

@@gracieslife1565 Thanks for reply :) I completely agree with the statement that envy (or actually the feeling of envy) is sth normal. And that there are people who, because of their heritage/money/talents are doing things which are out of our reach. What I meant was that maybe instead of dwelling on such ... unjustness (?), so to speak, it would be better to do what we can. Both for us and the others. :)

Do you ever make friends with people when travelling who aren't the most amazing, who you don't suddenly click with, or trust, or have the best times with? I guess it's just hard to talk about that on camera? But sometimes, as much as you try to accept and cherish all the amazing people around you find yourself with someone who is a bit.. dodgy? how do you choose which to befriend, have you ever had to stop hanging with someone?

The random protest you encountered was a "Gilets Jaunes" protest, they happen every saturday in big French cities since last october! People protest mainly because they are unhappy with the president and the political system... Sometimes there are some "casseurs" (breakers) who are a bit violent but most of the time these protests are peaceful :)

@headph8043 5 жыл бұрын
@headph8043
@headph8043 5 жыл бұрын

Looks fab gal! so nice to see a genuine and honest experience like this - as a languages student i have had a few experiences like this before but also am currently on my year abroad so can soooooo relate! lots of ups and downs but its so worth it! refreshing to hear and see your personal opinions and experience as so many people contribute to the idea that going abroad is such an easy transition and all coffee , ice creams and laughter (thanks for that rose-tinted image insta), and this expectation that your will leave and come back fluent - snap- just like that. but it is HARD! emotionally, mentally and sometimes physically just draining and even risky too. its tough but one of the best life experience i personally think you can have - teaches you so much more than you can ever learn in uni or at school, both new life skills, language skills and things about yourself. well done! and good luck on your french journey! i would love to see how you get on/keep it up in the future x bisous xxx

im so immensely inspired by you and what you’ve been doing in your gap year. i recently returned from a 3 week school trip to Japan, Spain and France for language learning and this gave me so much nostalgia because i stayed with a host family too. i would love to keep doing things like that in my life after high school and seeing you actually living out my “dream” is so so cool. i don’t know what the point of this comment is but good on you and keep doing what you do :))

I took French for 7 years and can still barely speak it. Every teacher and professor I had said you can sit in as many language classes as you’d like but you’ll never truly learn how to speak a language until you’re immersed in it. Always been my dream to go to France for a year and learn the language fluently

Hi! I usually never comment on people’s videos but yours just came out in my recommandations and I’m so glad because I’m a french student, I lived in Montpellier for two years and seeing you going to all these places I went to and loving Montpellier as I did was just great! I also wanted to thank you because I’m going to live in Oslo next year thanks to the Erasmus program and I’m a little bit scared to go to another country and to be in the situation you were in, and seeing you having those crisis of doubt but yet being so happy at the end and not wanting to go back comforted me in my decision and now I can’t wait to live something like that! I hope you see this and thank you again 😘😘

I love Jade! She fills my lungs, my mind and my soul... with her refreshingly inspiring videos- she, herself and her content, is a fresh breathe of air and excitement. I am going to be extremely honest here... I saw the thumbnail a while back, and was negatively comparing her life with mine and was like "ugh", before watching the video - which is not normally like me... I guess you can say that I was slightly jealous and agitated, as well as frustrated being tired from the monotonous and lethargic loop of revision... but I am glad I clicked onto the video because it filled me with so much, hope, excitement and thrill for my future. I realised that there is no need to compare, as we are all on our own journey of life, with our own individual circumstances. Thank you for inspiring me Jade! So remember, sometimes, we’re not exhausted because we’ve done too much, we’re tired because we’ve done too little of what we love and are meant for. When you avoid your passion and purpose, you end up using energy pointlessly. Also, be proud of who you are today because you've gone through a lot of adversities, heartbreaks and losses to become them. What didn’t end you, only mended you into a greater version of yourself. :)
