One thing Sri Lanka beats us out is in cleanliness. I was there in August in midst of the political, economic and social chaos and yet the streets were so clean. Even around places where there are eateries, there was much more order, cleanliness and tidiness in around compared to an Indian food market/joint. And as you said, the people were also hospitable. It left a good impression on me that inspite of the chaos, Sri Lankans were handling it well, or at least it was not showing on their face and they were extremely kind to me 👍🏽 . The local train experience is a must as it runs along the coast and you get specular sea views.

Hi Jenniji.. Welcome to our country, Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 .. I'm from North Western Province of Sri Lanka and came across your KZbin channel by chance.. As we see, some foreigners who arrive in the country make travel videos and you seem to be one of them.. Actually, the country is safe now in spite of the fact that there is an economic crisis, but the government is handling it well. Though earlier there were issues such as fuel and power cuts, now everything has become normal.. We are very happy to see the positive comments made by those who visited the country on the people and the current situation in the country.. They say Sri Lankans are kind, friendly and hospitable.. Of course they are.. You can enjoy your holiday here in Sri Lanka freely without any difficulty.. There are lots of ancient, historic places as well as other tourist hotspots to visit..

Welcome to Sri Lanka. Just an advice of caution. When you buy anything, if there's no price tag always bargain. Ask for half price of what they're offering. Same for the tuktuks without meters too. Majority of Sri Lankans are very very good and honest, but as in every where, there are scammers and dishonest people you may come across. Have a great time in Sri Lanka!

Media doesn’t portray the real picture most of the time - Sri Lanka is a beautiful place and comparatively less crowded and way cleaner than India. It’s also much easier to travel around and less confusing. Having said that India is one of my favorites. You need to see through the mass humanity,poverty and the rest to unveil the true beauty the colors and the spirituality of India. Anyways welcome to my home Sri Lanka.

Take a first class ticket to go to Badulla from Colombo by train to see the most beautiful scenery . Visit Kandy and Ella on the way. Visit ancient cities and temples in Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya. Visit the beaches and hot springs in the north.

If I heard it right, you said the taxi cost you Rs 1800 (around). Lol that's only $5, not $20. That's super cheap. There are tons of beautiful places in Colombo. Hope you will explore some beautiful places in Colombo. For the first time, one KZbinr showed Botanics, a rooftop bar/chill area. That was amazing and never seen it. Hope you can discover new wonders of Colombo not so often seen.

7500 to 8000 INR for 150 Km ...if it exceeds US 0.4 Cents per km ... thats way too expensive.. thats what I was telling about. I paid through the nose .. But I found SL is a beautiful country and people are also very good.But , I could see that they are absolutely unhappy and angry with the politicians and the virtual Chinese occupation... It's a pain in the neck for them ..

I am from Chennai. I visited Srilanka in 2020. Srilankans are keeping the road, street & buildings clean. Moreover, they have planted trees along the road. City corporations in India are earning more taxes. But, they spend less on house keeping. Indian city road's edge is exposed to soil. Dust enters the road when Vehicle moves from soil to road. That soil should be covered with bricks . Cleaning should be in 3 shifts. This does not need huge money. Attitude is the only problem with Indian administration. Hyderabad is taking initiative. let us wait

Welcome to the island. As a student living in the Capitol city I'd reccomend coming here for a visit. But don't stay in the city for too long. Go to Kandy and Anuradhapura, that's where you'll see the historical sights of Sri Lanka. Have wonderful trip, stay safe and take care of yourself. Dear Jenni, welcome to this tropical island. As you said this country is undergoing a difficult period created not by those citizens, but major flaws of the politicians, but hopefully things can improve. This country shouldn't have fallen to this had those leaders been attentive. This seems to be your first time here. For transport try to use the luxury buses with AC/ trains 1 or 2 class. Taxis yiu can call for Uber/ Pickme/ And if your taking short rides tuk-tuks are good, but if you feel the price is high always bargain. Or look for metered tuk-tuk. Food is good. Food can be spicy, and different flavors, depending on your choice. Its good in any food outlet. But try getting freshly made food. Fruuts are plenty. You can have Tamil food too, and are super vegetarian. Try to speak to people and get information. Specially where you will be staying. People would be very hospitable and friendly and there is no need to panic. But always keep in mind that you can come across various fraudulent guys. So better take extra care. Be attentive always so no one can play you out. You can have infornation on the internet and gather knowledge. Travel to the North/ South/ East/ West/ or the central hills are a must depending on your time and finances. Wishing you a great stay and surely you'll have tons of memories to carry with you, and surely we hope you will return and promote tourism of this country. Enjoy and have a great stay. Good luck!!
