Welcome back!! Your garden did great this time you left. I left mine for 6 weeks in the early fall, it did great! My mom watched her 1st cucuzzi grow in that fall garden, I told her not to harvest anything she didn't want to eat lol. It was about 4ft and 8lbs when I did pull it. Thanks for all the tips. 😊

It’s so rewarding to see the garden thriving after a little neglect! Now it’s time for clean up

Welcome home! Enjoyed your pictures from your trip. Try roasting the radishes like other root vegetables in olive oil, salt, pepper and garlic powder
@HomegrownFloridaZ9aКүн бұрын
I’ll have to try that. Thanks for the tip

I also have taken the lettuces that have started to bolt and sautéed them in olive oil with onions, garlic, tomatoes, hot peppers, Swiss chard, spinach, chopped radish tops or any other green ready and salt & pepper to taste. They come out pretty good.

That’s a great way to use those bolting greens!

Good morning and welcome back. What was the variety of multiplier onions you harvested?
@HomegrownFloridaZ9a16 сағат бұрын
They are called the Florida Finley onion and they are amazing

Big difference from what you returned to last year! Some of it may have to do with the early winter we're having this time. I'm too nervous to leave mine for more than a couple of days and you were gone a couple of months! Congrats.

I’m pretty surprised at how well it did too. The early winter definitely helped, I think.

I plant my potatoes on october 1st. I harvest them today and they were huge. I was so surprised because It was a bag of red organic potatoes from wholefoods. I'm planting them again the yellow potatoes are still small though.

You’ve inspired me to try growing the reds. The white potatoes always seem to take forever

Welcome Home & Happy New Year! 🎉 I'm amazed that no critters got to your garden while you & your furry defenders were gone! lol Eager to hear how your canned foods served you guys on your trip!

I was pretty surprised by that too. Little Chloe has found 2 rats since we got back so they are here but she is doing a good job.

We don't get the frequent rains like Florida has so I could never leave my garden for 3 months.

We are actually in our drought season during winter so I have sprinklers on a timer that water my garden while I’m away.

We’ve been looking forward to this video. Garden looks great. Our broccoli plants are in the exact stage yours are; the cauliflowers are too. Jealous of the Brussels. Nice peas, need to get into more vertical gardening plants next year been planning to do that with squash and a tallllll string method with tomatoes. Chaos bed looked cool.

Vertical gardening is a great way to maximize space. I’m in love with all mine.

I'm glad you had a decent harvest to come home to. So, did you plant most of these in your beds in October or November? I got most of my beds planted out in November after Hurricane Milton. my tomatillos are doing great. I'm gonna get a bumper harvest for the first time growing them. I hand water my garden daily. Maybe your tomatillos just needed more water? I'm covering some of my sensitive plants for the next couple of nights. The temperatures are gonna dip into the low 40s here in Sarasota. I have several plants flowering and producing right now, so I just want to protect them since I already have the row covers. So far so good. Welcome back to Florida and the garden life. 😊 Donna

Thanks Donna. I planted most things in October right before I left. You are probably right about the tomatillos. I haven’t installed drip irrigation in that bed yet.

Woohoo! When do you plant your spring potatoes?
@HomegrownFloridaZ9aСағат бұрын
I’ll probably put them in late February. As long as I don’t see any crazy weather in the forecast

Thank you for sharing your experience.. I completed my 1st full year of gardening and watch all your videos ❤ what kind of potatoes did you plant and when is the best planting time?
@HomegrownFloridaZ9a11 сағат бұрын
I planted Cal white and Golden nugget. I plant mine twice a year in September and February

Those blumats are so cool, how did I miss the video where you put them in. Those are great for containers and grow bags. Do you think you could add liquid fertilizer to the water so they would also be getting the nutrition while being watered?
@HomegrownFloridaZ9a6 сағат бұрын
I think I just did a short video for those because I was rushing before we left. Lol. I’m not sure how well the fertilizer would work because I think the clay spike might filter it out.

Is January the normal time to harvest potato’s? When do you plant
@HomegrownFloridaZ9aКүн бұрын
I started them in September as a fall crop. I will grow another round starting in February for a spring crop

Did you irrigate the plants while you were gone? Other than the Greenstalk thing you showed.
@HomegrownFloridaZ9aКүн бұрын
Yes, I have drip irrigation that is tied into my sprinkler system which is on a schedule
@RuthSosa-v4dКүн бұрын
Your fig needs a bigger pot to produce more.

I’ve been planning on up potting it while it’s dormant. What size pot do you usually use?
