@@gqldwing yeah exactly it’s very rare to find an artist that consistently puts out back to back to back projects with such individuality to them while also still resonating so deeply with such a vast amount of people Billie Eilish is truly a generational talent and people try to discredit her so much by saying she can’t sing or she whispers or uses auto tune etc like every single song she’s ever put out hasn’t done outrageous numbers yet no one has come close or will come remotely close to what this girl has accomplished at her age is truly remarkable there will not be another Billie Eilish no matter how hard they try to cook one up and someone else amazing will come along eventually but it won’t be for a long time

@@nathanizzo Most people who say that haven't ever tried whispering themselves. It's much much harder than conventional singing. I don't know why people use words like "auto-tune!" if they don't understand what it is. They pretty much think all vocal processing, overlaying, vocal harmonies, and such are auto-tune. Vocals are the means, not the end. If you can do away with them, do so. Something most people will just never understand.

I actually really liked the format of this video! I guess part of the reason is because its so different from what I see from other creators. I totally understand how Billie wouldnt be a persons favorite artist, because even though she is more mainstream her background and sound is still rooted in alt music. She definitely comes out with "popular" musaic often but it seems to me like all her best stuff are the tracks that are either sad or different. Im glad you did this deep dive and made sure topay attention to the lyrics.

I'm not a big fan of Billie Eilish. I guess i just don't relate to what she sings about. But Finneas (her brother and producer) is an absolute mastermind. As someone who pays more attention to melodies and sounds rather than lyrics, i think they kind of perfected the sound. As for the lyrics, it's not really my cup of tea, but others might disagree, and that's fine!
@shambhav9534Ай бұрын
This is when you want to sound poetic, but don't have the literary skills to pull it off, and it sounds corny. Or you don't have interesting things to write about, and don't want the song to be about nothing, so you make the song forcefully serious. Music is just so separated from literature these days. No one popular does good lyrics.
@Carmen-do9ciАй бұрын
@shambhav9534 i totally agree with you. Most (if not all) mainstream songs are simply cash grabs nowadays and trying too hard to be something they're not.
@shambhav9534Ай бұрын
@@Carmen-do9ci Nope, all of it is. To be fair, popular music almost always has been cash-grabs. But some acts making genuine art did shine through back then. If I recall correctly, Pink Floyd is the highest selling artist of the 70s. Talking of lyrics, they're either just nothing. Or they're good enough to conduct the emotion of the song, but no better. That's fine; not everyone needs to write like a Nobel prize winner. We've had these two types of lyrics since the dawn of music. But we've also had brilliant lyricism that adds to the music as well, but that's just gone from the charts these days. When anyone writes about serious struggles, the lyrics to always have to be an angsty person crying in front of the mirror vibe. I just don't get it.
@braaogs6Ай бұрын
Billie also writes melodies and she's the one who usually comes up with those beautiful harmonies. I hate to say it, but to me the "finneas is the mastermind" has a misogynistic undertone. It could be lack of information cause maybe you haven't been willing to watch her interviews and listen to her creative imput on her own music, but by now I'd expect ppl to take responsability and inform themselves before embracing the "there's a mastermind behind a female artist" narrative
@Carmen-do9ciАй бұрын
@braaogs6 haha i get how it sounds, but i am talking about him being a mastermind in the technical producer aspect of it, (for example the volume of the voice compared to the instrumentals, the good use of autotune etc..) Of course, she's talented she's not famous for nothing. Her melodies are great, too, but i just find it hard to like the lyrics, but it's just a personal opinion. Some people like them and that's fine! (If it means anything i also dislike finneas's songs quite a lot lmao, his lyrics are also bad imo but i do like em together)

@@shambhav9534 I do have my fair share of 90s music bc of an older sibling and my parents always playing different music from the 80s and up (mostly hip hop and r&b but not only that). I just don't listen to 90s music as much as I used to but as far as grunge goes I definitely know pearl jam, nirvana, and soundgarden to name a few. Maybe not as much as a full on fan but I'm not unaware lol. Right now this is just what's currently played. Honestly, like most people, I'll go through different phases where I remember an artist and binge listen to them for a couple of days then chill out to a different genre
@shambhav9534Ай бұрын
@@RellyMoorer You must have also listened to Pixies then because of their very direct influence in Nirvana. Also, you have punk and its varieties covered as well, right? And some older metal should be good. Might sound arbitrary, but in my personal experience (rock only), this is basically all the background you need to have to enjoy the really interesting stuff. Also, you recently listened to Pink Floyd, so you may want to continue the momentum with progressive rock. By the way, as others have warned you already, that whole genre is meant to be listened to with intense concentration (like you're reading a book).
