I was born in the Philippines but grew up in the US. I visited the Philippines back in 2015 for a vacation and saw how happy the people were with very little. I had more then they did but was miserable with my life back in the US and realized that I don't need much to be happy. I decided to move to the Philippines in 2018 and never looked back.

@@t.c.8796 I would say my savings are ok, but not that great. I quit my job when I left the US but found an online job a year after I moved. I was born in the Philippines but moved to the USA when I was 4 years old. Now that I'm a parent to a 5 and 4 year old myself, I find the idea of moving my family to the Philippines appealing for several of the reasons you mentioned in your video. You look like you may still be high school age, at the very least it looks like you have siblings that are below 18 years old. How are you and your family handling college in the future? I haven't researched this too deeply, but I want my children to be able to apply to US based colleges in the future.

Most of my friends are Registered Nurses. They send their children to Manila to study Nursing with low college tuition fees and fun experiences. Most of all after 4 years of college in Metro Manila or any province cities with Universities in the Philippines... you can finished college for Cheap. You can come back to America 🇺🇸 with a Bachelors degree in Nursing without Student Loans. College and Universities in the Philippines especially in Nursing or Software Engineering are really good 👍. Just look at Hospitals everywhere... Filipino Nurses are the best and can easily land jobs. NO STUDENT LOANS 😊😊😊😊

@@fedgie7277 I want to keep my children's options open, my biggest concern by moving my family to the Philippines is limiting their opportunity to be accepted into US based colleges should they do most of their K-12 schooling in the Philippines. I've looked at international schools in the Philippines as a possible solution, but I'm not entirely sure that removes all obstacles should they apply to US colleges. There is also the cost of international school to consider, compared to a "free" public school district that my kids go to now that is ranked in the top 10 in my state. My kid's college options is probably the biggest consideration I have to sort out.
@nbatalla032 жыл бұрын
@@runeatexplorer7796 Thanks for the input. I've dug a little bit deeper now that this thought has taken root. Unfortunately, there isn't a clear cut answer. To add to the complexity, in state tuition benefits falls into a gray area should my kids choose to attend college in our current state. I may be romanticizing my memories of my visits to the Philippines when I was younger, but I agree that my kids may never want to head back to the states. Not that their life is boring now... they are beyond spoiled, and have an upbringing completely different than my own. But as I get older, the pull for a change of scenery for my family gets louder each year.
@RD-kq3ml2 жыл бұрын
@@nbatalla03 Ok, let's be real! First of all, I hope and maybe just assume that you've already have figured out everything and have set aside some budget for your kids college education, else, paying for a college loan is a pain in the ass. And it's quite a burden matter of fact later in life. Second of all, given the current climate in the whole western world, a college degree doesn't equal to success later on in life. I mean, you should put or figure out what you've prioritize in life are. Ask yourself what you want for your kids. I'm born and raised in the Philippines, no formal education, and a college drop out, got myself educated thru piratebay, etc(all the BS the mainstream beliefs have concoct that can you can think of). But at the end of the day, after owning businesses in both tech and logistics, I'm the effin boss of those "college graduates" in both the US and EU and currently partnered with Space X. Just sayin....
@nbatalla032 жыл бұрын
@@RD-kq3ml I'm not discussing the merits of a college education, or the costs associated with pursuing higher education. That's not in scope of my concerns. I'm merely concerned with the potential challenges of applying to US based colleges should most of their K-12 schooling be abroad. Whether they want to attend college or not is on them. But since they are still young, keeping their options open is the prudent action to take as their parent.

My wife and I are still debating if we should rent/lease or buy a condo in Cebu and another concern is Medical Insurance since Medicare is not acceptable there. Still have 4 years to retirement but already making plans ahead. We are giving our home to our daughter here in the states so she and her future spouse can finish off the mortgage. We will be relying on SS retirement and leave our retirement money invested in the US while having access to it if needed.

thanks for an honest sounding review of life in the Philippines...yes, city life is expensive but you find so much more that is easy to afford...food, friends, family, fun.....living in a small village with most of what I need within walking distance..pool hall, fishing, swimming beaches, stores that carry most of the odd things a family needs, plenty of farm land for growing foods to eat, well educated people to talk to on a daily basis, and a whole village of people that treat me as one of their own.....but I learned it again, treat others as you would wish them to treat you.GOLDEN RULE...

I'm really looking forward to returning & maybe living there for awhile. Was Active-Duty U.S. Military & had R&R many times in Subic Bay, Luzon, R.P.I. 1980 & 1981. Absolutely LOVED it there 😀. Went to alot of other Countries but of them all Subic-Bay, & Perth, Australia were my 2 Favorites. Australia was also Most Expensive Port of Call tho. But Lived like a ☆•King•☆ in Philippines on a Non-Commisioned Officer's Salary. I Subscribe to 5 other U S. Expat Channels Mostly Veteran's. I've been thinking about a trip to Subic & See the old Base & then maybe Cebu, & possibly Leyte... But then Pandemic wrecked those ideas. Now I'm hoping to make it happen hopefully sometime in 2023. I might even consider living there awhile. And, if maybe if I meet a really special comparable Lady, Who knows after that. I LOVE America & I'm very Loyal & Patriotic. But The America I've always known & Loved 😍 is Not heading in right direction & Don't like where it's going. Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience. V/R, "The Bucket-List Guy"

Especially now with open borders. Student loans being pardon or reduced, Gas prices & common commodities up, Electric vehicles being push to the market with a price range of $50K & up. Rents up everything is going up except the salary! I live in Irving, TX.

If you want to live the vibrant city life in Philippines, I suggest BGC, Makati, Manila, Quezon City or Cebu. If you want nature and beach life, Palawan, Siargao, Boracay, Bohol. If you want a cooler climate, Baguio.

Have you been to Cebu the Savvy Expat? Hopefully, you can come by Cebu city. Lots of places to go from urban areas to nature, mountains and beaches and of course, the biggest, grandest and most fun street party/ festival, mardi gras in the country, the Sinulog festival. Hopefully, next year, no more covid. 2 years have passed without Sinulog bec of the restrictions and safety measures so hopefully, there'll be Sinulog next year, and hope you can join the fun.

I'd rather listen to your input on life in the Philippines than these old run of the mill foreigners expat channels. You're content is super accurate. LIfe here is something you need to experience for years to really fully comprehend. In the Philippines one day it's the greatest thing in the world then next day it's a headache.

Savviest enlightener, living guru, and cultural touchstone - that's what you and your channel are. I have high-achieving Philippino friends here in the U.S. who were born there, some in rural areas even, but they're realistic enough to discern that life in their native country, despite the travails of witnessing how their impoverished neighbors were continually diminished by their difficult and challenging lives every single day, would still stand out as fulfilling and profoundly satisfying. Family and community dynamics there are supportive and psychically robust enough to counter the angsts, superficialities, and materialistic oddities of American sociopolitical system, one that's been wronged and sullied almost beyond recognition by a former president and his demented cult followers who are still making life miserable for many of us here. I wish I could promptly uproot myself and go live there for good.

EC Devera.....U absolutely must be referring to the barry HUSSEIN obama MARXIST administration & his democRAT/COMMUNIST supporters.

Mate, if you think the previous president has anything to do with where we are currently, you're going to be in for an /extremely/ rude awakening. Well, actually it's been a year now so I suppose that's already happened, but we're still on a crash trajectory that the current admin refuses to change.
