Each round was a delightful experience, filled with joy and camaraderie." This isn't the end of Langer's storied career, though. He remains active on the PGA Tour Champions circuit, where he's secured 12 major titles, most recently clinching the 2023 U.S. Senior Open. Last month, he made an admirable attempt to defend his U.S. Senior Open title, making the cut and finishing tied for 42nd.
Langer's illustrious career boasts 123 titles, including victories at the 1985 and 1993 Masters. He had planned to make his final Masters appearance last April, but an Achilles tendon injury two months prior required surgery, sidelining him from the event. In addition to his individual successes, Langer compiled a remarkable 21-15-6 Ryder Cup record and led Europe to victory as captain in 2004 at Oakland Hills, Michigan. Thomas Bjorn, a former Ryder Cup teammate, noted that Langer's presence will be sorely missed on the DP World Tour.
"You won't find a more genuine gentleman in golf than Bernhard Langer," Bjorn remarked on the tour's website. "It's an honor and a pleasure to be in his company. I shared many tournaments and practice rounds with him, and he always made me feel welcome in his world."
