Domestic violence is just so insidious. Rather than wondering why the victim doesn’t leave the abuser, if you know someone that is in a similar situation, and if you really want to help them, offer them a safe haven, offer to help them escape or help them in anyway you can. Call the agencies in your area for advice on how to help them and how to help them and you stay safe. I’m talking from experience and I just wish that someone had offered me assistance, I eventually got away with my child and my pets and no car or any of our belongings. It was so hard and people judged me as a bad parent for taking my child from our home to living with friends and not always being able to get her to school. One agency said that they could help me by taking my child away from me - that way they don’t have to help house us both. It was just crazy and from that day off I didn’t ask for help with housing. These days I sincerely hope that they approach it differently but I lived with guilt for years and only now that my daughter is an adult with her own family am I really able to explain it all to her. Gah, it’s another one of my KZbin comment overshares. But I have to admit, it helps as I obviously have a lot of unresolved issues. Anonymous commenting is very cathartic.
@mariannastefanova769710 ай бұрын
I don't know you, but I can tell you this - absolutely no fault on your end, not even a grain of it. I know it can be hard, especially when you hear the same thing over and over again, at some point it does get into your head. That being said though, you did what you could and you did get out alive. Many other victims don't have the same courage and that leads to so much more devastating results. It may sound shallow or irresponsible, but when things get to the point of choosing between your and your child's life and school, I'm very sorry, but school absolutely doesn't matter, and to hell whoever ever told you otherwise. If you ever happen to find yourself in the guilt trip situation again, just remind yourself that both you and your child got out alive because of what you did. Your child is now alive and has had the chance to become an adult because of you taking the decision to leave. You fought for your baby and that is all a mother is meant to do, so please be kind to yourself and remember that your courage meant a future for you and your girl ❤🩹I'm proud of you for being so so brave!

In regards to Cindy, here’s a woman who is beaten and terrorised over a number of years yet when she finally divorces him and he moves a few hundred miles away she contacts him. Unbelievably, allows him access to the children after he traumatised them and even goes on a family outing. This isn’t rational behaviour.
@SaraAhmed-mm7iu3 жыл бұрын
I was kinda thinking the same. So many ....not even "red flags" but straight up attempts to harm his own family like...why allow him to have access to you and your kids. He clearly was a predator. Idgaf about that "but he was their father", it's one thing to be abusive and get therapy and a whoooleee next level to shoot at your wifes head, beat her while pregnant and frighten the life out of your kids by pretending to leave them stranded and abandoned. Sometimes being a "tiger mum" is justified in order to preserve the lives of your own children.
@rachelmartin36313 жыл бұрын
It's called domestic violence syndrome. We always think oh I'm doing it for the kids. They need to have a relationship with him to grow up "normal". And the abuse seems normal to us, we haven't known anything else. He says oh I'm so sorry I'll never do it again, and we believe him. It takes a LOT of guts to get out, to say enough and disappear. I've had 2 abusive marriages, and I grew up in an abusive home as a child. At first it seemed normal, but eventually I said ENOUGH and left. It's taken years and years of therapy to realize abuse isn't normal. To stay away, and move on.
@tessforbes86873 жыл бұрын
@@rachelmartin3631 I appreciate what you are saying and I’m glad that your life is better today. I think Cindy’s circumstances were different even though she was controlled by him for that four year period. Abusive partners often threaten death if their partner leaves and the act of leaving is considered the most dangerous time for the victims. He accepted the divorce and never assaulted Cindy again. I think this fact, and believing brain damage caused his violent behaviour, she trusted him. I guess I’m surprised that she was no longer fearful of his propensity for violence. It seems that the divorce freed him to begin his rampage of rape and then murder. You may be right Rachel having experienced domestic abuse. Sounds like the head injury caused a lot of this. If the doctor warned her of this, why did the doctors not help her then?? My father broke his neck when I was little and he was never the same again either. He actually acted very similar. Called my mom nasty names, beat her and us kids, attacked everyone close to him mentally and made us feel like we were worthless. Looking back now I think he did that because he felt worthless now since he was having to learn to walk and do daily activities again. He became more and more violent as time went on and he got his strength back and healed better. I always knew my dad killed someone or multiple people because of things he would say when drunk and he almost killed my mom and I and got a kick out of it. No one would listen to us about my dad because to everyone else he was such a great man. Behind closed doors he was a monster. I even wrote a story/short book about life with him and I won a writer award. When I was reaching out for help by writing about him no one tried to help, no they gave me an award, thinking I made this is and I was very "imaginative" , no one ever listens until it is too late. He recently died and I could not bring myself to go to his funeral because I couldn't bare hearing people talk about what a great man he was when I knew the truth. Other people around him were in such denial. When I had to take care of him after my mom finally divorced him and got away, barely, I had then become his punching bag, blaming the divorce on me, and when I finally stood up to him, my family found out and then called me the bad guy and shunned me away from the family. I now realize my entire family is crazy and in denial and in order to have any sense of a normal life I have to stay away from my entire family as they will never listen or realize. Which tells me now that they are just as bad, because why would a little kid lie about this? And why was my mother pretending now like that stuff never happened. My family actually made me feel like I was crazy for a period of time. They tried to get me to believe it was all in my head, but after I put t myself in counseling I came to the reality that "my father the monster" was my reality. I had marks, bruising, past broken bones, and vivid explicit memories that just couldn't be made up. I'm still getting help, but I know I will never be able to have any relationship with my family.

so happy she got away from him. just a little confused as to why she would let him see the children after so many years of abuse, after he pretends to leave his children pit in the desert and traumatIzes them. maybe she was still afraid what he might do if he was denied his children.? she is a very brave woman relieved she was not killed by him.

Another traumatic brain injury! These people need a lot more support than they’re getting after these brain injuries. 😢

He fired at her and she stayed!!! WTF was she thinking. Why was she suprised at the end? He treated her badly. Dont blame the accident. He was born disturbed.

Hard to believe people can just kill and rape without remorse and then return home to their own daughters & wife

My beef with all these serial killer shows is they give money to the killers families to appear multiple times to appear on these shows instead of putting the victims families on & giving them the money. Its just bullshit & they need the money the most.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong but the families are victims too. They are affected. It's just crappy all around
@Unboxing_mysteries_fun3 жыл бұрын
I think it’s probably harder to get the victims families to come on these shows. Bringing that trauma to surface over and over would be rough.

With that young girl's kidnapping and rape the cops were not very interested until they thought it had something to do with the serial killer. Wonder If they would have made an arrest otherwise.
