How do you fix the bulging mushroom effect on the sides above the ribbon after getting it heavily rained on?

just saw something last night about a company that has a $25,000 Montecristi hat that takes 3 months to make or something. almost makes $1000 seem cheap! are panamas more breathable than other straw hats like, say shantung? i sweat like crazy in my Open Road and actually put some eyelets in it to try and help with that.

Hi Kevin 👋 I have some Stetson Hemp Fedora hats in my shop. Many clients find the brim too floppy . Can I do the same as you do with this Panama and stiffen the brim with layers of hairspray ?

Yes, super/extra hold hair spray. Don’t get it on the ribbon or the sweatband, let each coat dry , then repeat, 2-3 coats tops should do it. Sometimes just one good coat.

@@quadrogong1111 Thanks ! It worked Very well . I posted the hats om Instagram and boom - 1st hat sold. They have been so floppy but now they look much better 👌. I asked Stetson and they say that they are that way but I prefer more shapes brim and obviosly so do the clients .
