Funny, where I grew up some families wore locs and started their children in locs. Older women kept telling me I should loc my hair, but because I still want this loose out look (that in all of 30 years I have never been able to achieve, because I have not been able to maintain growth) I have been too afraid to loc my hair. But I believe year 41 will have to be the year, or year 50. Lol

I'm 5 months Loc'ed! Happy to see this!! I will like to add that your locs will definitely tighten and it'll thicken up too. But the tightening will be more severe since you used loose braids. Either that or it'll shrink. But definitely will be a very good way to start locs. I'm really interested in how it'll go, wow!! It might be the best way to start!

Hi Lilian !! am excited for you and your new journey - but I have to ask... keeping your hair in twists for 2 weeks is hard for you, how will you handle it, when your tempted to take them down. This is a Genuine question, cause the only reason why I don’t have locks is cause I don’t think I can handle a permanent hair style - so I am curious to know and see how you will handle this.

To be honest, I do not know how I will handle it but I'll definitely share my journey with you guys. So far, I've been enjoying it because my hair still looks like an afro for the most part so I've be switching from puffs to wearing it down and spicing it up with different hats and caps (see my Instagram @lilian_okibe). I haven't been bored yet but it is still very early to say for sure so let's see how it goes. 🤗🤗🤗

Can I losen the locs myself after a long time

If you intend to wear it as a protective for a few months, the way you'll care for it will be totally different. You should be doing the opposite of things that help with the loc'ing process. This means less washing, coiling the ends frequently, stretching etc. All these will prevent your hair from loc'ing fast. Even with these, taking down the locs will still be a tedious process so you want to bear that in mind when making your decision. ❤️❤️❤️

I do not intend to take the locs down (at least not for the next 2 years). I also do not intend to wear extensions for now; until my locs are fully mature. I do not want the extensions to make the locs thinner. I'll definitely show how I retouch it. 🤗🤗🤗😘😘😘
