I lost FPS with HYPR-RX On

If you're looking for max FPS, I'd recommend using RIS (radeon image sharpening) as there is no performance hit. There are no right/wrong settings, but I personally leave HYPR-RX off for now. Updates and new features being added could change that. Hope y'all enjoy :)

I switched to hyper-x and my frames crashed and the screen started tearing. I actually prefer RIS over FSR. Max 18w auto tdp locked at 40 fps I get 40fps at around 17w on cyberpunk (720p). It's a great setting. Titanfall 2(1080p) I get 60 fps at 10w with high settings.

Facts Ris gives an extra boost fps. But RSR is fine enough 720p upscaled 1080p.

I use the 900p + RIS combo like for 90% of the games I play on Ally. 720p + RSR is also great for some cartoonish/low-detailed games, cause it gives you even more fps than 900p.

I've been waiting for this video. I turned off Anti Lag and it removes stuttering during map scrolling in Genshin impact. Also, I've tested RSR from 1080p to 1440p vs RIS 80%. I've noticed that RSR picture is a tiny bit better than RIS, but a price is unstable 55-60 fps. For me, unstable fps is much more noticeable, so I decided to stay at 1080p with sharpness effect for 2K external monitor.

Thanks for the video...i prefer using 900p without any AMD tweaks... although in immortals of aveum i use Fsr quality and frame generation to get FPS up, i find the game is very playable like this, not ideal i know but still enjoyable.... didn't think I'd enjoy my windows handheld as much as i do👌

The settings I use are 900p and RIS (Radeon Image Sharpening) set to On. I don't like Anti-Lag as it can cause stuttering in some games. And I don't use any of the other settings as they provide no noticeable benefit. The reason I just use RIS is it helps the 900p image look more like 1080p. Also if a game can run 1080p, then I still leave RIS on and it makes it look that much sharper. You might need to adjust the sharpness if it's too sharp though, as it defaults to 80%. So you could try 50% or something a bit lower. But it's my favorite setting and I've used it for years on all my AMD devices.

If you have too zoom in 400% to notice .... on the small screen the ally has ... you aint gomna notice it during gameplay .

Exactly, that's why I think running HYPR-RX off at 900p is the way to go. Or use RIS (Radeon Image Sharpening) as it has 0 performance hit. HYPR-RX doesn't provide much benefit in it's current state, but it "sounds" like it does.

All technologies like amd anti lag or nvidia reflex will lower your fps in order to give you lower latency because you can either increase throughput or lower latency you can't have both

Thanks! :) I go back and forth but basically always have G-Helper running. The main reason is I don't use Turbo in AC because of how many watts it uses and how hot it gets. I just upgraded the NVME to 2TB and re-installed windows. I'm thinking about only running G-Helper with reWASD as it's a great combo.

Yes, should be pretty close to the same results :) With the Go if you use RSR then anything under 1600p will upscale, so 800p or 1200p.

You are doing it wrong youre changing the desktop resolution you have to do it in game keep the desktop resolution the same..... NEVER DO IT THIS WAY. RSR on 1080P NOT 900P.

eh up mate, im having trouble getting me RSR to work at the moment, if i set ingame resolution to 720 it defaults the screen resolution to 720p. one other thing, iv been having issues with the AMD monitoring software on my main rig, 7900xtx, temp and FPS being reported incorrectly, just got my ally back from repair and it was showing the APU at 95 degrees C, where as in reality it was down in the low 70s, so dont know if something is going on there, even with CPU boost on at 40watt profile im not seeing temps above 90 when measured with HWinfo64 and MSI afterburner..... but i could be misinterpreting the information...... over

That is strange. On the Ally is it the Asus monitor that's showing that temperature or the AMD Overlay? Also, what's the name of the temperature that you're monitoring in HWinfo for the CPU?

While technically accurate your testing methodology is a bit off, RSR automatically upscales from whatever resolution you have set to native resolution, so your 900P RSR tests is actually 900P upscaled to 1080P This would be the like calling DLSS 1080P quality setting 720P as it is rendering native at 720P then upscaling to 1080. it's not meant to be a turn this on and you just get more fps, your supposed to drop the in game rendering resolution then let it upscale to native. to say that it lowers FPS is saying you don't really understand what the setting does.

It’s a pretty decent hit because of RSR. But you do get the extra visual quality. One game that suffers a lot thought is Starfield. The FPS tank in that game with it on. And VRR really makes it feel smooth in the lower frame rates.

Hey I used this on a freesync external monitor using a hub that supports it and got weird stuttering non-stop compared to to not using it. So you could try it, but I found there are performance issues from my testing when using and external monitor.

The thing with HYPR-RX is it does increase performance on the latest desktop cards since it's enabling frame generation. For us handheld owners though it's decreasing performance. I mainly put the video out because someone seeing HYPR-RX or the marketing behind it, would think it'll give them more performance when it actually decreases FPS. The only thing in HYPR-RX that decreases system latency is "Anti-Lag", the other 2 don't reduce input and will actually slightly increase it with RSR since the frame rate drops.

Hey, I'm on 333, but I recommend staying on 331 if you're on that. If you're on 323 or 330, then it could be worth upgrading. I saw a LOT of stuttering on 323 when using the latest AMD Driver so 333 is an improvement, but some games are stuttering at 1080p in the lower watt range. Most games seem to run well though as I've been playing them on 333.

Yes, RSR at 900p will give you close to 1080p in clarity. I just found it interesting that the option is called "HYPR-RX" and you loose performance. On the latest desktop cards you'd gain performance because they have frame generation. I personally use RIS as I still think it looks good, it works at all resolutions and there is no performance hit.
