I have a friend who faked a eating disorder and now has to go to the hospital, she uses tumblr a lot and I’m really worried for her. She loves hello kitty and even has a backpack about it (not saying that wrong) but she worries about the past and not the future. She is like these people in this video, faking things for attention. Her and another one of my friends cut themselfs and call it “drip”. I am in the 9th grade and I can tell you it’s hell. Just stay away from people like that, no point in being friends with then if they are going to disrespect other people who actually have a disorder. Anyways if you see someone doing any of this reported to an adult (if your a minor or a kid) or a therapist you might know.

4:13, it is actually very unsafe for people with DID to say that they have it because there is a chance that the abusers can find the platform and might start abusing that person again (the internet can be a very unsafe space like that). as we are a system, we know that it is for our safety to stay faceless and voiceless. alters are their own person and can take on the forms of human and nonhuman entities, this also includes undead alters which I am unaware of us having any, this however is not physical but instead what they look like in the headspace as we call it. please don't use these disorders for clout, there are people out there who do actually have these disorders and it is so disrespectful to do this shit. people who fake these disorders are causing more stigma around some already stigmatised disorders. if you do feel like you have a disorder, please see a doctor.

So I always check my bfs lungs to see how they’re doing if they’re the same or worse. However I don’t see how “fatherless behavior” has anything to do with faking a disorder? Not having a father in itself can cause some of these disorders. 3:00 I'm not a psychologist or anything, but I know enough abt DID to explain this. They're not claiming to have DID/OSDD (OSDD is basically DID, but without the amnesia, so alters can know eachothers memories). They used to think that they had DID because they experienced major personality shifts, enough to feel like different people, but realised that these were DA's instead of Alters. A delusional attachment, or DA, is a type of delusion experienced by people with psychosis that they're not who they actually are. In these types of spaces, thats typically fictional characters. So someone will genuinely believe that they're (for example) sans. So basically the tiktok user thought they had DID, but realised they shifted between delusional attachments. [It's also important to note that "delusional attachment" isn't a medical term, and can only be experienced by people with psychosis. I don't know if the user is faking this or not so I just explained it like they're genuinely experiencing this.]
@dcrlingtulip5283 жыл бұрын
This is an old comment, but OSDD isn't always another form of DID. The OSDD you're thinking of is OSDD 1-B, which is similar to DID but with significantly less amnesia. OSDD 1-A is like DID but with less distinction between alters.

I have a close friend that has been diagnosed with DID, and from the stuff his doctors have told him and through research I have done, it is entirely possible for someone to have an alter that is a character from a show, a content creator, etc. If the person has an emotional attachment to that person, fictional or not, it can be an alter. So please do not judge or doubt someone who has DID if they say they have an alter that follows the lines of this. (Also I am aware that there are people who fake DID and can say this stuff as well. All I can say is shame to them. It’s disgusting to do that stuff for “clout”. That’s just mocking at that point)

Thing is though, I've heard a lot of people with tourettes say that you can't tell if someone is faking just by looking at them. They may be compressing their tics in front of you and only feel comfortable at home or sharing it on the internet. Disorders like that are complicated, there is no simple answer) Edit: tourettes can actually just happen overnight. Yes, I'm serious. I've heard from a lot of people with tourettes say that can happen and it was even the case for some. Okay, I loved this video, thank you for shining light on this :) I am someone with ADHD. Something that comes with ADHD is "mirroring". The most easiest example I have to describe mirroring is accents! If I'm around someone with an accent, I will badly mimic that accent but it's not me making fun of them by any means, I don't know why I do it, but I just do. Well, last year I have been seeing a lot of tiktokers with real tourretes and the more I watched them the more I started to mimic to the point where I couldn't control them myself. I didn't fully understand at the time why I was doing them, but eventually they went away after I stopped watching the tiktokers. Now the only time that it happens is when I see someone faking them because it just brings back the stress. It's not me trying to fake it for "clout" because I was actually quite embarrassed that I was doing that because "friends" started to pretend they had them for attention even though I only got negative attention while the attention they got was positive. Sorry for the long Comment, but I thought I should share my story.

as someone with DID (dissociative identity disorder), i personally believe there's no true way to tell who is faking and who is not, especially on the internet. and while introjects might seem "cringe" to some, it's to be kept in mind that the more "cringe" ones are more often than not from content consumed by children, which as you may guess, is when the disorder is formed. personally, we have my little pony fictives and tinkerbell fictives; all content consumed by children. dream smp is no exception to this, people who find immense comfort in watching minecraft streamers and are still extremely stressed or abused in their day-to-day life will often split an introject of the creator or their character. it's important to understand that DID is formed from trauma experienced as a child, and when that child's only way of survival is dissociating from what is happening, often times they'll form DID as a coping mechanism. but, to other systems, that is no excuse to tell those that don't have the disorder "your trauma was not good enough." because trauma, to many, is subjective. while one thing may be experienced by two individuals, both will cope differently, one may have a support system, the other may not be as lucky. it's also EXTREMELY important to understand that every system has trauma, every system will have up days and down days. but, you might never see those down days because it's the bloody internet nobody's going to be sharing the worst parts ever. it's also important to know that since the disorder is based in childhood, minors are going to have it, minors are going to possibly figure out by accident, such as myself, who was more or less forced to realize during a stressful event. and, unless the system in question is a "twosoulsonebod" situation, or claiming to be "endogenic" or whatever the hell it's called, there's a large chance they're not faking at all. DID is a disorder that never goes away, and at the same time, it's a disorder that unfortunately is heavily stigmatized by horror media. people with the disorder may try to look on the brighter side, and try to destigmatize it by using tiktok, they may try to have a sense of normalcy in their communities. they are not monsters nor are they dangerous, they're people like you and i, and they just coped differently with what was handed to them as a child. this may get buried, but hey, i felt like it was needed. questions are more than welcome by the way, no need to worry about seeming rude too. i personally enjoy explaining things.

Hey Engween! I want to say something about the second one. So sometimes Systems (term for a body with multiple persons inside the head. DID technically means other people living in your head with you. They can take over the body, and you won't remember anything. These are usually called "Alters") have these things called "fictives". Fictives are alters but resemble a person from like an anime or a book or a TV show. (Not all alters are people, too). Like let's say someone with DID loves the anime My Hero Academia. A character that finds them comfort is Bakugou. They end up developing a Fictive that resembles Bakugou - appearances, voice, memories, relationships, etc.. Delusional Attachments are where someone thinks they are a character from something. Like back in 6th grade (11yrs-12yrs) I was OBSESSED with this KZbinr named "Aphmau". She brought me a lot of comfort, and most of my thoughts were Aphmau related (I have Maladaptive Daydreaming, which is very very intense daydreaming, and most of my daydreams were of Aphmau-related stuff. I had this on my mind like 24/7). It got to the point where I formed a Delusional Attachment to the character Aphmau. I genuinely believed I was Aphmau. This wasn't a cutesy "Oh this 3-year-old think's he's Spiderman", no, this was very debilitating. Imagine thinking that this life doesn't matter because your "real friends" are going to come and save you at any moment. Imagine the anxiety of worrying about these upcoming battles between you and your friends vs. your enemies. Nobody in this life really mattered to me because I was some goddess from another universe and I didn't need them. They were just setbacks for me. Delusional Attachments and Fictives can be mixed up sometimes. I still don't know if my DA was actually a fictive that has gone dormant or something, but either way it's scary. Just wanted to let you know that that is probably what this person is talking about!! Also, a singlet means a person without multiple personalities. So like, no alters. Just one person For the third one, they weren't flaunting their disorder. Pointing out you have disorders doesn't equal flaunting them. I have multiple mental illnesses and disorders and I would do the exact same thing they did if I found that sound. For others, it doesn't seem like their cup of tea. But that's how I cope with my Mental Illnesses/disorders, and it may be how other people cope as well. Please don't fakeclaim because people are saying their disorders Also, the drista one was a DID one! This drista was a fictive in a system

2:53 Alters are the different people that people with DID or OSDD share the body with. Singlet is a term people use to describe people who do not have DID or OSDD. with that cleared out of the way, let me explain. The person in the video thought they had DID (or OSDD), but they eventually found out they didn't have either of those and was actually going through "delusional attachment" episodes. Delusional Attachment refers to a person's false belief that they are a different person, such as a character from a piece of fiction or a real life celebrity, rooted in psychosis. 7:23 is DID or OSDD, i dont know it really depends. They have an alter of Drista (dream's sister) from the DSMP and that's about all i can explain for that. hope that clears some things up, edit: forgot to add that im not trying to defend anyone, just giving off meanings for different terms and stuff from what i know. i cannot say if they're faking it or not.

All of these were awful but the Drista one was just insane. Having mcyt alters is fine (to my knowledge anyway), but assuming a real person and MINORS sexuality and shipping them with ANOTHER real minor (Lani, who is Tubbo's sister) is disgusting. These are children.

it's not exactly assuming sexuality or shipping, that is a drista *alter* , and that drista *alter* is bi or lesbian and dating a lani *alter* , they aren't saying that the actual drista is bi or lesbian and they aren't shipping drista and lani /nm

@Viridian Ash we dont know its its actually fake. fictives are a real form of DID.
@yo_its_z23263 жыл бұрын
The last one is actually a valid part of DID. Drista, in the video, is an introject, also known as a fictive. Fictives are from fiction, whether that be a character from a book, movie, or otherwise. However, they don’t necessarily have the same qualities or traits as their sources, and assuming so would be rather offensive (for example, yelling at a fictive because you dislike their source or their source isn’t a good person). If any systems would like to correct me or want to add anything please let me know, as I’m not one myself. :)
@moonbased77963 жыл бұрын
3:22 Yeah from my understanding with the term (someone can correct me if I’m wrong) that the term “singlet” pretty much means someone who doesn’t have DID or OSDD (or anything similar to those but those are the most common that I am aware) and since I don’t have neither of those (or at least I’m aware) I am considered as a singlet.

@@killid1764 There's also dreamgender which is supposedly when your gender is tied some way to dream, but that's literally not the proper definition. According to the LGBTQ+ wiki page, "Dreamgender is a mutogender that is different/altered during dreams than it is during wakefulness. For example, a person could identify as female while awake, but identity’s as a paraboy while sleeping and dreaming." Dreamgender in the sense that it is tied to Dream the youtuber makes no sense to me because it has nothing to do with intensity of genders, lack of genders, percentage of genders, fluidity of genders, or a gender based on a concept or object. It's based off of a youtuber on a made up platform who posts funny minecraft videos.

I’m temporarily diagnosed with depressive psychosis until I can get tested for other psychotic disorders and people LOVE to fake that without knowing the half of it. I hate it so much and people treat it like it’s such a quirky disorder to have. The whole D/A thing revolves around that and I don’t know how these people are even aware they’re experiencing a delusion because the whole point is to not be aware!!

One of my friends is in the process of getting diagnosed with DID and they have multiple alters based off of characters. It’s not a sign that someone is faking DID because it’s entirely possible to have alters based on characters for the media you consume. If you believe that someone is faking DID please leave them alone. It’s not your place to say what they do or don’t have. It can be harmful but leaving them alone and not giving them the time of day is the best thing that you can do. My friend’s system has multiple fictives so it’s entirely possible. Just don’t harass people please. It’s a very complex disorder and I don’t want to cause any problems. One of my friends has been accused of their autism only mildly affecting their life and they’re blowing it way out of proportion. It’s not ok to judge someone when you don’t know them personally and have no idea what’s going on inside their head.
@scorpiiiondude33272 жыл бұрын
some of these people go in with the intent of "disorders = aesthetic" and they collect them like pokemon cards. they're the reason why some people outright don't believe in these disorders. When a shit ton of colored hair 12 year olds are pretending to have autism because they think it's cute and quirky, I woulden't find it okay to support that.

DID is considered unproven, an invalid diagnosis, and with little to no scientific basis by many prominent voices in the psychological community. Calling people out for lying about something is not the same as harassing. I can also understand how acting this way can be a defense mechanism, but it would still, by the most of the professional psychological community, be considered exactly that - acting. And before you decide to call me "intolerant" or say I "don't understand", I grew up with incredibly suicidal tendencies, self-harm habits, and nervous tics. I've almost been kidnapped, almost murdered, and been abused in multiple different ways which wouldn't be appropriate to explicitly speak of here. My heart goes out to those who have suffered or been hurt/broken. But faking a syndrome widely regarded by the professional community as unproven and fake stops them from addressing the real issue, and actually getting the help they need. When people fake depression, or stuttering, or nervous tics, I can ABSOLUTELY call them out for it, because I'm diagnosed and struggle with it myself. The issue with so many of our generation is this concept of "DON'T JUDGE THEM OHMYGOD...!" or "YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE THEM"... Like, no. Stop lying. Stop faking issues. Stop attacking those who want to call out liars, and want to call out people who aren't dealing with an issue like they should, in order to help them. People who "just let it be" or "aren't judgmental" actually do more harm than good. Rather than lovingly calling out a friend, you are allowing them to continue self destructive habits. As a person with actual issues who for so long didn't know how to deal with them because people were encouraging the wrong ideas or habits that I thought might fix it, instead of kindly telling me that what I was doing was wrong, this type of logic not only makes me angry, it makes me scared. That is dangerous. That concerns me. I have lived through shootouts, knife fights, and beatings. If someone had actually called me out instead of allowing me to drag myself deeper into a fake solution which actually hurt me worse, maybe I wouldn't be suffering in the same way I am today. Hello! No hate coming from us + no attention wanted. As someone with a personality disorder, I hate to see shit like this. "Omg i have so many cool friends!!" no, no you dont. A lot of systems actually dont get along, maybe eventually, but they never like it. Its VERY rare for headmates to ALL get along... Also the drista one, having introjects is OK and reasonable! we have a few ourselves. I like how you didnt say much on them, but introjects are real and valid!! Alters are forms of 'protectors' in a vast majority, all revolving around a trauma that started at a young age (from only sexual or physical abuse from under the age of 10). If you find a character comforting, they may form into an introject! Just thought id put this out there, I can explain more if asked!

Unlike the brain dead tik tokers in this video, i actually HAVE tourettes, and them faking it makes me wanna put my fist through a wall and wonder why they would fake it. To give you an example of what its like, the girl who pretended actually looked pretty convincing on her having tourettes other than the fact she hesitated to put her hand in the dye. But for me, i cant do an anything without my tourettes wanting to mess it up, i have to micromanage myself. When im Baking, my tourettes want to throw all the ingredients in the bowl and dump it on the floor. Playing videogames, i squeeze the controller and press all the buttons at once. Even typing this my tourettes wanted to smear my fingers across the keyboard and type a mess. And some nights, if im not tired enouth to pass out tight there, my tourettes keep me up for hours. It might be because i have a more mild version of tourettes, but you can control then, its just extremely uncomfortable. And it pisses me off that people are faking it

im not sure if it is enough to qualify as tourettes but i have been diagnosed with nervous tics and they have been present all my life. from sounds to sudden movements and jerking motions. over time they dissipated but i always go trough relapses specially during stressfull periods of my life where i become a jerking mess of a person who cannot sit still ever. it also angers me that some people thing they can fake this shit and get away with it.
