1st - Congrats on your weight loss. I have lost 120+ lbs in the last 16 months and my face has changed a ton, and yes, my beard absolutely changed as well. I found as i started losing significant weight that I no longer liked how I looked with my bigger beard. The same beard styling that i had done for long time no longer seemed to look right on me. I decided I needed to change and started going shorter with my beard to allow the new shape of my face to show more. I realized for me, I had somewhat been using my long, thicker beard as a mask to hide what I didn't like, which was the heavier face shape from being bigger. 5-6 Days a week at the gym, complete dietary changes have reshaped my body and mind (My journey did start with mounjjaro shots and they did help me get my A1C down and helped facilitate curbing the appetite which made it so I could turn the new changes into new habits and lifestyle). I turn 50 this year and am in best shape I have been in as an adult. I am also probably happier with my beard and look right now than I have been at any point.

Mr. C.,I started on my weight loss journey 12 years ago in 2012. That was also my last year of being a School Teacher. I weighed in at 535 pounds and in terrible health. Now, in 2024, I weigh in at 211 pounds, my health has improved immensely! I started growing a beard this year for the first time in my life and I'm loving it! Thanks so much for all you do for the Bearded Community! My wife & I enjoy your videos so much!

I started hitting the gym regularly since February. One of my goals was to lose some of the pandemic weight I gained. I can definitely tell that I am no longer carrying around nearly as much face fat anymore. Did a trim recently, and it really sticks out to me. I think I can rock certain styles better now. Congrats on your fitness journey! Let’s keep up the grind!

Dan congerats on the weight loss. I also lost alot of weight. Got real sick. Was septic and on my way to dying. Found out that I was diabetic, 400 lbs. My health and beard was ridiculously out of control. I was able to get off insulin and all but Maintenance drug only. In the journey that has taking 4 years I have lost 150 lbs and had my knees real place and now Im healthy. After the weight lose my face was a lot thiner and beard was so much nice looking. I made the decision to make the changes I need too. Being healthy has made my beard look so much better. Being healthy is a way of life at sometime get out control for many reasons. We just need to go the path that works for you. Healthy works. Awsome video.

I also have recently lost around 20-30 lbs, doing about the same as you, just adjusting what I eat and cutting back on drinking. I have notice my beard looking more tapered and having to do more with my “beard blowout” routine. I never even thought about how my face was thinning out! Lol! Great video once again Dan! 👊🤘

1st congratulations on the weight loss @dancbearded. This is 100% accurate for me. Starting 3 years ago when I decided to grow my beard, I was about 40 and weighing over 375lb. When I shaved it off for the last time, I had weighed myself and damn near cried and started making changes. Now at 43, and 195 lb, along with all your guidance, and healthy routines, my beard looks fuller, healthier, and more complete because my face wasn't as round and lumpy because of my fat cheeks or double chins. I know I am being too rough on myself, but that's why my beard is so important. It's my walking trophy. I feel amazing with these habits. Exercise increases testosterone, water helps the skin and body, and oil and butter the hair. My heart and blood pressure keeps everything circulating, I am rocking the shit out of this from a typical dad bod, to "hey daddy" from Mrs. Dan, you know what I'm talking about... lol

My weight loss journey started at about the same time as my beard journey, so as I lost weight my beard was changing alot just due to getting longer, so I didn't have the same experience. My beard simply evolved with my body, I lost about 75 lbs in about a year, and have maintained for about the past 6 months. By the way, we are on the same weight loss "program" which is to say it is no program at all, just working out and making better food choices...

Dan I’ve been waiting for this one!! I always wondered this and believe I even asked you a question on it maybe 2 years or more ago! Well here I am 50lbs in one year and I can say 100% my beard looks the best it ever has. Not just from surface area but I believe my testosterone production has most likely gone up with the weight loss and muscle gained. So it’s two fold. Honestly I don’t think I ever would have cared about my health in general or in the same way I do now if not for you videos on beard health and how much internal health effects your beard. Yes I got into a physical hobby (reel mowing) and I have a crazy 2.5 toddler for my “resistance training” because he resists and I have to chase him! Once my wife pointed out I lost weight it motivated me to actually try to and I just tried to make good choices (beef jerky instead of a cookie) or a sparking water instead of beer with dinner. Thank you Dan for helping light the spark!!

Great to hear about your weight loss. Well done. I was 124kgs back in early March this year and my doctor told me i had to lose the weight. I did. This morning i weighed myself and i’m 107.45kgs. I have 7 more kilos to go. I walk 10kms a day, drink heaps of water and i’m eating protein, salads, vegetables and small amounts of fruit. No junk food. No soft drink. No baked good. No added sugar. No deep fried anything, No alcohol. No desserts. No chocolate. No carbs either so no bread, no pasta and no rice. Nothing my body doesn’t need. I feel soooooo much better. So much more energy and i’m sleeping a lot better as well My beard has changed and i’ve adapted to it.

Excellent mental outlook! Great job on your weight. I lost around 15 pounds recently by cutting way down on Carbs. I did notice the sides of my beard were puffier and some of my headgear was looser 😊. Not sure if the sides were because of lost weight or simply time between trims. All I can say about my beard routine is that the basic wash, dry, oil, groom is the same. The following changes aren’t from weight loss; rather from changed thought-processes I noticed since changing my diet-I changed from one-until-done to a 3-oil rotation (I’m not sure my beard cares, but feel-in-beard is a dramatic change) some days my Chicago #9 is enough while others seem to want my Boar Bristle Brush.

As very skinny person always wondered but wasnt sure. I think this is why blow out method is so important to me, although since it can be too much heat/time with heat if done almost everyday i found high speed no heat for blowout before any heat can do the trick to keep from drying hair too much.

I have lost 120 lbs in the last year and a half. Had to shave for work a year ago and could see a real difference in my facial structure. I grew it back and has been over a year, weight is still off and beard is better looking than last year. Biggest thing was I drink more water and cut out all bad foods. Sugars are gone and body feels better. All of this equates to a healthier beard.

Not trying to lose weight, as I’m already where I should be, 135lbs, 5’3”. Any less and I’d look sickly. 😂 It’s more about staying active due to my job where I sit all day.
