You did the right thing and treated yourself nicely! I know from a direct source that a lot of units recently ordered already have been assembled, so the logistics are in full swing :-) Hope you'll be having as much fun as I am having recently!

@@PippPriss I got it today!! I bought a St. Rock Amperium Live during my wait so I could check it out and compare the two. But I was unable to get anything out of that thing that I liked. So it went back in the box days before the NAM player got here. So, took me a little to get good at navigating around, tried the stock presets and although I couldn't get what I was after I heard the potential. So I loaded in a couple NAM files I downloaded. Only took a couple of minutes and hot damn!!! I LOVE this thing!! I put around an hour into the Amperium with no luck and that thing is LOADED with presets and endless tweaking possibilities (didn't load any NAM files as I really didn't like the functionality of the unit either). Only took a few minutes with the NAM player. I couldn't be happier. Thanks so much for your vides. I don't know if I would have pulled the trigger if I hadn't watched all your in depth videos! Now I got to dive in and dial my signature tone in 😁 Take care and thanks again for everything you do!

"Noise gate per preset" is a really good thing. NB : PreEQ is nice too (but maybe it was already there before the update... I don't know :) )
@PippPriss
@PippPriss 5 ай бұрын
It was not there yet, as the EQ was "after amp" 🙂So yet another really cool feature, and I agree, Noise Gate per preset is awesome.

Great explanation and also a nice pedal. I see 2 problems though: 1) as anybody knows who deals with software, the user interface makes 95% of the tool and I am afraid a small company will be eaten alive when a large user base starts exploring all the glitches and requesting all kinds of changes and additions. 2) in the end NAM is just a nice wrapper around the WaveNet algorithm (among others, but this is the most prominent). Anybody can do this and even improve it. Imagine Line 6 decided to add a NAM block or something similar (everything is publicly available!), this pedal would be obsolete, and imagine Line 6 added capturing and modeling capabilities to their editor, Tone-X would be obsolete too.

Valid points. But given that DIMEHEAD is the first to do a pedal running NAM, time is on their side to grow the business to a size where they at least are seen within the industry. I think actually it is very possible that Line6 will implement a NAM block on their next product, because that would crush ToneX completely out of the game and also unlock potential. But we as consumers can still choose the company we support. DIMEHEAD was able to rid out any kind of bugs I reported in matter of hours, at max one day. This is unparalleled and only possible because of the small headcount of the company. And I personally like the UI a lot. It's on the verge of being too cluttered, but it currently hit a sweet spot in regard of features vs. Intuitiveness of the GUI, at least in my opinion. I find your take reasonable and your points valid, but the overarching view quite pessimistic and would not agree to the conclusion. Also, on WaveNet. Sure, anybody can improve on it. Actually, we did so in the NAM group, and for fuzzes etc. It's also reasonable to enhance the channel size etc. However, this comes wiith the toll of heavier CPU use, which most users shy'd away from. It's all give and take :-)

@@PippPriss I don't question the Dime head guys, from the brief contact I had with them they seem good people. But user software and the related complexity kills you at a certain point. Also I didn't mean to make Wavenet even bigger, quite the contrary, it should be reduced in size and complexity. Training time and CPU demand are just too much.

@@Schlumpf.Meister No worries, I didn't took your comment as any offense toward DIMEHEAD :-) I personally think the GUI is in a great sweet spot regarding complexity, it offers most things a small form factor pedal-board-amp could be being asked for. But only time of course can tell if the NAM player will become obsolete, as soon as big players enter the ring and potentially undermine the value proposition this device offers. On WaveNet: I am not sure, if the neural network can be restructured to actually save CPU consumption. I think you can only combat that with more processing power. It will surely be interesting to see the next generation of digital pedal solutions for guitar players - I think and hope that NAM will play a crucial role to it, since it's easy to use and open-source. :-) and I for one would love to have a Helix V2 rack unit which is capable of three signal chains and NAM blocks, or other crazy stuff! ;-)

Well, when can we expect chorus, phaser, flanger, etc? My normal setup is pre compressor, chorus, and post delay and reverb. Like many other people. It would prove the price point. And another thing. What I really like on vst NAM is it's simplicity. Browsing through hundred menus is really not simple, despite the fact that I am a an audio engineer. Tonex did that much more ellegant and user friendly with a software. It is very obvious that your developers are smart engineers but not musicians.

First off, let me say that I am not affiliated with Dimehead, I just do KZbin Videos and I am a product enthusiast. Maybe you could consider me a brand communicator, but I am not even that in any official capacity. On Chorus and Flanger: changing the Delay, you can already achieve Chorus and Flanger sounds. Phaser is a different animal though, and to that, I have no answer. I think "proving the price point" is already done perfectly with the fact you can load two NAM slots and have the routing flexibility. Even if you buy two ToneX Ones - if you want the additional IR load output, then you need an IR loader. Want XLR, you need a DI Box. That alone will set you back the same price as the NAM Player cost. And to be honest, I think using the NAM Player is way, WAY easier than browsing through the ToneX Editor and Pedal (speaking of hundreds of menus). But, that is just pure preference. And last, but not least: Dirk, the main guy behind Dimehead, is in fact a musician first.

@pipp priss : how do you use it for live / rehearsals : direct and/or through a cab ? I'd love to see how you use the Dimehead in a live / rehearsal context (a Kyle Bull-style rehearsal/live vlog for it would be even more awesome :) ).
@PippPriss
@PippPriss 5 ай бұрын
I use both. The Line-Out goes to a Harley Benton GPA-100 Power amp into a 4x12 or 2x12, depending on Venue size (either Marshall 1960AV or Harley Benton 2x12 Vertical with Celestion V30s), and the XLR out goes to the IEM-Mixing Rack/FoH. NAMplayer allows for you to select after which DSP block you want your Line-Out signal to be exited, so you can have Line-Out without Cabinet IR, and XLR is then by default non-adjustable after the IR section. FULL FLEXIBILITY! I will see if I can come up with a vlog thing, I think that might be interesting as well! :-) Thanks for the suggestion!

@@PippPriss Thanks for all the details ! What's your band name btw ? Didn't know about the Harley Benton GPA-100 Power amp... Just looking at the product page on Thomann... Seems very inexpensive and has great reviews... How do you like it ? Have you had the chance to compare it against more expensive an comparable units like the Seymour Duncan Powerstage 170 ?
@PippPriss
@PippPriss 5 ай бұрын
@@djabthrash My band's name is Tempest - scroll down at the very end of the video description for more details (it's also the music which runs in the background of my videos) I did not have the chance to A/B it against the Powerstage 170, but to be honest, I have no real desire to do so because I am very happy so far. I like it a lot, the three band EQ gives me all the flexibility I need to abuse it as a presence/resonance control. It is also loud enough, granted you will be micing the venue OR you have a 4 Ohm 4x12 cab at your disposal. With 4x12 4 Ohm, it definitely can hang with a kongster-monster loud metal-drummer. The only thing you MUST do is make sure you have a free space at the bottom, so air can ventilate. I have a video on my pedalboard before I switched over to the Dimehead NAMplayer being at the heart of it - you might want to check that out, as I think I go into more detail also on the power-amp itself (but no guarantees, can't remember anymore).

@@PippPrissgreat content🤘 you've sold me on the unit😂. Could you please clarify the signal chain as I will be using this through my katana artist 100 mk2 1x12 { plugged into power amp in or effects return} Am I correct is saying that you are using the line out tap in the HP/LP mode which allows you use the high/low pass filters of the IR block but the actual cab IR is removed from the chain (since you are playing through a real cab).

Hello, wonderful video. I just wanted to ask you about the latency. Leo Gibson did the NAMplayer latency test and it was among the best being 0.8 ms when everything was engaged. I wanted to ask you if stacking 2 NAM blocks increases latency? Thank you for all the great videos.
@PippPriss
@PippPriss 4 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for the compliment! I would have to check on the latency thing. For me personally, even 1,6 ms would be no big deal. But let me grab my device later and so some testing around that. I hope to remember to come back to you on the matter :-)

what about using a nam for a preamp and a nam for a poweramp? I have a bunch of presets like this and I would have to have it in a pedal.
@michaellankton2771
@michaellankton2771 5 ай бұрын
Dimehead got back to me and said load the preamp as your effect and your power amp in the amp nam slot. Cool, but it does keep you from using an overdrive in that situation. Not a common scenario so not a dealbreaker, but they should allow stackable nams in the amp slot and it'd be perfect.
@PippPriss
@PippPriss 4 ай бұрын
The problem is at one point you will run out DSP. I think having two NAM slots is awesome, in case you want badly your OD and the amp together with a preamp or any other combo,.you can easily make a custom NAM capture of two NAM profiles glued together.

One thing I've wondered about: Is it possible to move blocks in the signal chain? For example, I might like reverb and delay after the IR, and use the out/fxloop before the amp block? Possible?
@PippPriss
@PippPriss 2 ай бұрын
You can move very flexible where you want the Line-Out to grab the signal from, so you can choose behind any block of the signal chain, but the signal chain however cannot be changed. The order of the blocks is fixed, I think the graphic is in the video. That order is fixed, just a matter of where you grab the signal for line-out.
