Never tried the preamp, but the actual kraken and super kraken amp. The vibe which I got is that the Kraken and especially super kraken were much tighter and focused. More like that 5150 type cocked wah sound, while the purple nightmare is fatter, more like a rectifier/diesel VH4 type of thing.

as for high frequencies that are annoying / fatiguing, there's something coming and going in your video audio at very high frequency, like a crt tv or if you've ever heard those electricity based candle lighters. not very loud but loud enough to make it uncomfortable. i wouldnt know where exactly thats coming from but might be worth to re-check that recording to find the cause!
@PippPriss2 күн бұрын
Thanks for mentioning that! Do you have a spot where it's especially prominent, time stamp wise? Then I could check that specifically, since I never heard something like that.
@void_snw2 күн бұрын
@PippPriss I can hear it at the very beginning already. Maybe something with the mic? If you're using a compressor it would explain why it comes and goes a bit 😅
@PippPriss2 күн бұрын
In this video I can hear the room reverb quite a lot pumping via the compressor, maybe it's that. But I think I have fallen victim to the KZbin compression as well. I got to make sure on the next video that I address that. Thanks for chiming in!

Thank you for tuning in! Yeah, it's a minor issue, the good things outweigh by far!
@CTBlaze4 күн бұрын
at roughly which frequency does the aliasing start? 7,5-8kHz?
@PippPriss3 күн бұрын
I have no idea, I think Francois showed a bit in his video, but yeah just from listening I'd guess around that frequency.
@void_snw3 күн бұрын
aliasing happens when frequencies go over the nyquist limit, they essentially start going back down the frequency range from there, like a ball bouncing off a wall. nyquist is half the sample rate used. if using 48khz that would be 24khz. distortion from amps and thus amp models can definitely go that high, but guitar speakers / speaker sims heavily attenuate from like 6khz onwards, but the aliasing would happen at the amp model stage right before it. dan worrall has a great video on stuff like that.

@Fanafranky4 күн бұрын
Good question, it probably works just as well but I don't know if anyone tested it yet? Also I guess aliasing is already less present in full rigs because of the cab frequency response, but I could be wrong 🤔 but any incremental change could be beneficial if accuracy isn't negatively impacted!

I have not tested with full captures. My recommendation was just because the high frequency noises are super loud and high signal. I'd hate running that through my real setup and be in the same room :-D

Hey there, there was a massive update some time ago adding Delay, which can be altered to work like a chorus or flanger if you want to. Check out Dimeheads channel on the modulation tutorial, I am showing there how it works :-) It's effect-wise not yet where ToneX is, but damn I love my NAM Player tenfold before the ToneX - gapless switching, nice I/O routing layout etc. Blows ToneX out of the water. :-)

And this is the only NAM game in town.

Thanks for the video. Can I ask about the GL.iNet. How do you connect this to the internet when using it. Do you use a sim or do you connect to a local Wifi?
@PippPriss3 күн бұрын
Hi there! When we are on a gig, we simply don't have any internet connection once connected to the router for our Mixer system. In the rehearsal room, our WAN port (WAN -> like a LAN port, but just in the direction of "public network" instead of private network like a LAN port goes to) is connected to the LAN port of another LTE router. So in the rehearsal room, we have internet, on gigs, as long as we connect to the router of our mixer, no internet. But that said, a lot of the small venues have crappy internet connection anyways, and when on stage, I got better to do then surfing :-) Thanks for checking out the video!
@ThomasFrith-e5t3 күн бұрын
Thanks so much for the reply and the info! Trying to sort our rig out for a small live setting, so as long the router is connected to the mixer it all works and can connect to the apps locally with the inbuilt wifi without the need for a separate network? Thanks for the info again 😊

As far as I am aware, out of the box it does send out program changes on each button, and pressing two buttons will up and down the bank. But I am not sure about this. Yes, I think so, but you'll have to be sure that all are okay with using mono. Our guitar player NEEDED stereo, because otherwise it did not work for him. Can you have a "Lead/boost" for A, B and C? Or does the Ext switch always go to the alt settings of A? Let's say I have A as clean, B as crunch and C as full distortion. Can I get a boost for each of the 3 patches?
@PippPriss12 күн бұрын
I have to admit I am not 100% sure about this since I have moved over to using MIDI, but I think yes, that was exactly possible. The changes you applied would be applied no matter the preset. However, you could not individualize the /B setup on each preset, so each and every preset would be altered in the same way. If you always just activate a lead patch by bumping volume, mids and activating the delay, then it might work. It's basically a MIDI CC command-set without implementing MIDI. If you want to work smarter instead of harder on that front, the MVave Chocolate MIDI controller is a viable option, and luckily, I got a video on that topic quite recently. :-)

@@PippPriss So the footswitch is making the same changes to whatever the current patch is. Ok that should work for me. I have a generic latching footswitch so I'll try that. If it works like that then it's exactly what I need. Although I don't know if it's NO or NC. If not I'll have to look into MIDI. Thanks!

i wonder if the ultranet connection + behringer software are reliable enough to replace a traditional splitter? if something goes terribly south, with a splitter the worst case - everyone's without inear, FOH still has the mix. Without a splitter, the worst case - no one receives any signal
@PippPriss12 күн бұрын
Well, technology always can fail. But we have set up our pedalboard stuff so that we can also power traditional cabs with power amp pedals on our boards, so that is our safety net. In the worst case scenario, instead of doing a split via ULTRANET to the MIDAS, we could do a mixdown out of the Behringer XR18s Main Outs. And if that fails, well then we just move over to powering the cabinets and using the "old school setup" without in ear. But, to be honest, those are a lot of "if"s, and if I am that worried about something failing, then no pedalboard, because that can fail too, also a.repocament tube amp, because in case, oh an make sure to have a backup instrument for every guy in the band... It becomes a pointless obsession. We never had a single issue with our IEM rack, it works rock solid in all situations in roundabout 10-15 gigs we.played with this setup. And every single rehearsal once a week.

The Josh Middleton plugin by STL Tones can very easily do deathcore. If you can't do deathcore with a boosted 5150, XXX, or Recto, something is wrong, considering the amount of deathcore albums those amps have been used on.
