I Love Yoo Episode 178 Analysis - Understanding and Realization

Not me totally binging all your I Love Yoo videos because I re-read and caught up on the series three weeks ago and am STILL reeling from the events while watching insta edits on a daily basis. It's so fun watching your vids because they're so easy to relate to. You really cover so much details that it's admirable. Putting into words what others often find hard to. PS. The music you choose to accompany each video does a splendid job of covering the feel of the actual episodes and I love that you have them there! As the series goes on, you realise how much thought and detail Quimchee has put into every piece of this story right from the very beginning. It's easy to underestimate this story for some "casual love triangle" before you get into it. When in reality, once you do read it, the further you go, the more you realise not only does it not count as that "love-triangle" in the slightest, but it's so SO SO much more. It's fleshed out and filled with incredibly well-written characters, with nuances and subtleties that don't feel forced and end up making everything feel real. EVERY character feels so full of humanity and are multilayered and are unique to their own selves. Not a single one of them lacks layers. Not a single one of them can be defined in one single sentence. Both in terms of characters as individuals but also the relationships they have with others. The psychology of it all is crazy (pun unintended). And it's so present that what would have initially felt like a randomised part of the story instead comes back to slap you 100+ episodes later where you realise how intentional it truly was. It's very fitting for this drama story which is poetic in it's overall style. And the romance between Shin-Ae and Yeong-Gi is probably one of the best I've ever come across. It's NEVER over the top. There's nothing "fluttery" about it in the general sense. It's simply REAL. Natural in every form love can be. And thus, more warm than almost every romance I've seen (if not all). The series is honestly so beautiful. So much respect for the author for both managing to write this incredible tale but also because of HOW she carefully tells it (dialogue, symbolism, art-choices, etc). Up till now, the only times I've ever dwelled on the sorrows of a series after I caught up or finished it was if a character I liked died, literally ^^' This is the first time where it's been simply for the SADNESS characters feel ........ Three weeks. Hmm. Maybe I should hold a grudge. But that's also what makes the joys of this story that much more precious.

Quimchee has definitely done a great job of weaving important details into the story. It feels very seamless, and her character writing is amazing. I think what I really love about the characters is that they feel very unique in their motivations. They have so much complexity, and all the nuances within that complexity have made them who they are today. They may not always be justified in their actions and behaviors, but you can absolutely understand WHY they act the way they do. Nol and Shin-Ae, for me, are soulmates. Their relationship feels very honest and pure. They care so deeply for each other, and this is one of my favorite elements of their dynamic. I agree! Quim is a very careful story teller and really takes the time to flesh things out. I'm really excited to see where the story goes from here as there are still so many interesting plot threads in the series to explore :) Thank you so much! I'm glad you like the videos :3

"I really liked her!!!" *_____ * Gosh,my heart can't take it! That Talk was soooooo much needed. Those two are just so adorable and likeable. (Hope my english isn't so awful geeee) My favourit panel is when Shin-Ae, Dieter and Minh-Yuk hugging. :3 so wholesome.

Same here! I think it's important for him to understand what a healthy relationship with a father figure is like, and although he is in no way obligated to forgive Rand for the awful way he has treated Nol, I like to think that somewhere down the line maybe Nol and Rand can have a better relationship. Rand has a lot of work to do before that happens, but maybe someday.

lol Sim Han really hides his feelings well if he's liked Mina for that long lmaooo. And its sooo nice seeing Shin Ae get more appreciation from her friends. Girl really has no idea about the effect she has on people. She's always considering herself a burden :'). Also shout out to the mvp of today's chapter: LIL BUDDY!

Sim-Han is so endearing lol :') what an awkward potato. I love him for it. I love seeing Shin-Ae get some of the love she deserves. I think she still has a lot of trauma to work through, but her outlook on life has become so much healthier. I'm happy for her. Lil Buddy is the best :D

Shin ae's family issue doesnt get much attention anymore, we still don't know anything on what happend to her mother or what Shin hye is doing right now. There are flashbacks, but it's still a complete mystery. I dont think Shin hye isn't biologically related to Sim han considering the uncanny resemblance with her and Shin ae. But it is a good theory on why their mother left. Shin ae should start asking Sim on what happend, I found it a bit weird that she would immediately change the topic when Sim was talking about her family, even though she is well aware how little she knows on what happend. Also, since Nol was close to Shin ae when Lil buddy attacked, it could also mean that he might have heard Shin ae and Sim hand's conversion. Great video, as always 🤗🤗

Yes, I'm very interested in finding out more about Shin-Ae's past and family. I was also thinking about how similar Shin-Ae and Shin-Hye are in appearance, but I couldn't think of another reason as to why Sim-Han couldn't keep her :o I guess we'll find out eventually. ILY has a lot of plot threads, so I'm not sure when we'll find out, but we'll get there lol I kinda hope Nol overheard the conversation. I like to think that someday he and Rand can at least make peace. Nol has no obligation to forgive Rand for his terrible treatment of him, but it would be nice if they were able to at least have somewhat of a healthy relationship somewhere down the line. I'm pretty sad about the sudden hatius but i was actually really happy at the the last couple panels as I'm sure many others are as well. I'm really just hoping that in the beginning of the next chapter it will start off with nol continuing to confess to lil buddy in an exaggerated way while shin ae discreetly listens

Yeah, the hiatus is definitely a bummer, but hopefully everything will be back to the normal schedule soon :) it's definitely nice seeing Nol's true feelings come out hehe :3

Intergalactic lasagna! (Thank you for the shout-out, hehe!) 😌 Good thinking about the Pieces bit. That does make aot of sense. It's obvious Sim-Han loves Shin-Hye just as much, so it makes me wonder why Shin-Hye is so skittish. What happened, or what does she think happened, or was told happened? What does she remember, or misremember? And Mina must have the patience of a saint, or is truly smitten. I can't wait to see more interactions between her and Sim-Han.

Maybe it has to do with how her mother talked about Sim Han? If their break up was a really shitty one, i cant imagine she had a lot of positive things to say about him.

I stopped reading I love yoo for a long time. And your analysis makes me want to continue from where I left. I stopped reading because the webtoon comments became so toxic, they only care about romance and the author is inconsistent. She had too many hiatus, I thought she will eventually drop the story. Whew, I've missed a lot. From, Nol's court case, Nol's admission to study abroad to Kousuke mystery past (his rebellious college days). But the character I'm much more interested in is Kousuke and Yui. Maybe because Nol, Shin ae and Rand are being created as the good guys in this story, I don't find them more interesting as Yui and Kousuke.

I totally get your reasoning for taking a break. There was definitely a time where I avoided the comments section as well because it was becoming a bit too toxic for my liking. It's true! A lot has happened in the story within these past chapters, but there are still a lot of plot threads for us to explore 0.0 Kousuke is honestly one of my favorites from a character standpoint. I also find him fascinating :3 I have a Kousuke character analysis video that I made a while back if you'd like to check it out. I enjoy analyzing his behavior as well. Nol has always been my number one fav, but Kousuke is probably my second just because the psychology of how his mind works is super interesting to me, and I think he has so much potential for character development.

@@himetsuki Kousuke analysis? GREAT 👍. I will definitely watch that. He's definitely my favorite character in I love yoo (probably the only character I like**he and Nol). And I think I will have to re-read I love yoo. It's been 2-3 years since I stopped reading it haha 😄 😅. I have forgotten most of the characters and plot. I think if I read it again I will have an in-depth understanding of some characters (eg. Shin ae). I just subscribed and I will definitely recommend your channel to others.

Intergalactic spaghetti! Okay now that that's out of the way, firstly this was a wonderful video as always! Great work! :) I wanted to bring up the chessboard theory for a second. I noticed that Rand, the black king, is still at the party by himself, surrounded by white pieces like Yui, Alyssa, Sang-Chul and others. And in addition, if Kousuke is the white king, then he is also by himself surrounded by all black pieces like Nol, Shin-Ae, and Yu-Jing. And Kousuke's sense of identity is already crumbling thanks to Hansuke and that phone call. I wonder what Rand is really planning to do with his speech tonight. I'm so curious and impatient!

Hamburger meteor...😳😕☹️😞. Anyway, interesting concept about Shin-Hye, though the two do have similar facial structure, and their ears seem the same as well. It was a complete joy to see Nol's standoff with Lil' Buddy; not just because it was amusing, but seeing Shin-Ae's reaction to it just adds to the humor. Not surprised, but yet can't help watching how much of an idiot he can be; and it ties in so well to the episode that takes place at WacDonalds (it feels very funny to write that down, even though we all know what the actual restaurant is supposed to be) when Shin-Ae is watching his reaction to his nugget tower collapsing (even more hilarious when she finds out that he ate the nuggets, despite the fact that they fell on the table, using the debunked 5 second rule as an excuse).

Oh my gosh, we've got galaxy meat, ladies and gentleman hahaha I'm really unsure about Shin-Hye. Her not being biologically Sim-Han's child was the only reason I could think of as to why he couldn't keep her, but you're right, she and Shin-Ae do look almost identical, so it would be kinda odd if they aren't full sisters. Also, yes! Nol is so funny lol I really love the way his childish side comes out, and I think it's something that Shin-Ae feels some sense of connection to since neither of them really got to have much of a childhood. Nol's childhood, from what we've seen, was pretty awful, as was Shin-Ae's. They both had to grow up quickly, so it's nice to see that inner child come out from time to time :)

Speaking of childhood, I hope we are going to get the full details into Shin-Ae's injury soon, especially because it seemed like Alyssa (or is it Allison...who cares; we all hate her) had some involvement in it.
